1 Rois 13
1 Voici qu’un homme de Dieu arriva, dans la parole de Yahweh, de Juda à Béthel, pendant que Jéroboam se tenait à l’autel pour mettre le feu aux victimes.
And beholde, there came a man of God out of Iudah (by the commandement of the Lord) vnto Beth-el, and Ieroboam stoode by the altar to offer incense.
2 Il cria contre l’autel, dans la parole de Yahweh, et il dit: « Autel! Autel! Ainsi parle Yahweh: Il naîtra un fils à la maison de David; son nom sera Josias; il immolera sur toi les prêtres des hauts lieux qui mettent sur toi le feu aux victimes, et l’on brûlera sur toi des ossements d’hommes! »
And he cryed against the altar by the comandement of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Beholde, a child shalbe borne vnto the house of Dauid, Iosiah by name, and vpon thee shall he sacrifice the Priestes of the hie places that burne incense vpon thee, and they shall burne mens bones vpon thee.
3 Et le même jour il donna un signe, en disant: « Tel est le signe que Yahweh a parlé: voici que l’autel se fendra, et la cendre qui est dessus sera répandue. »
And he gaue a signe the same time, saying, This is the signe, that the Lord hath spoken, Behold, the altar shall rent, and the ashes that are vpon it, shall fall out.
4 Lorsque le roi Jéroboam entendit la parole que l’homme de Dieu avait criée contre l’autel de Béthel, il avança la main de dessus l’autel, en disant: « Saisissez-le! » Et la main qu’il avait étendue contre lui devint sèche, et il ne put la ramener à soi.
And when the King had heard the saying of the man of God, which he had cryed against the altar in Beth-el, Ieroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, Lay holde on him: but his hande which he put foorth against him, dryed vp, and he could not pull it in againe to him.
5 L’autel se fendit, et la cendre se répandit de dessus l’autel, selon le signe qu’avait donné l’homme de Dieu, dans la parole de Yahweh.
The altar also claue asunder, and the ashes fell out from the altar, according to the signe, which the man of God had giuen by the commandement of the Lord.
6 Le roi prit la parole et dit à l’homme de Dieu: « Apaise Yahweh, ton Dieu, et prie pour moi, afin que ma main revienne à moi. » L’homme de Dieu apaisa Yahweh, et le roi put ramener à lui sa main, qui devint comme auparavant.
Then the King answered, and saide vnto the man of God, I beseeche thee, pray vnto ye Lord thy God, and make intercession for me, that mine hand may bee restored vnto me. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the Kings hand was restored, and became as it was afore.
7 Le roi dit à l’homme de Dieu: « Entre avec moi dans la maison et ranime-toi, et je te donnerai un présent. »
Then the King sayde vnto the man of God, Come home with mee, that thou mayest dyne, and I will giue thee a reward.
8 L’homme de Dieu répondit au roi: « Quand tu me donnerais la moitié de ta maison, je n’entrerais pas avec toi, et je ne mangerais pas de pain ni ne boirais d’eau dans ce lieu;
But the man of God saide vnto the King, If thou wouldest giue me halfe thine house, I would not goe in with thee, neither woulde I eate bread nor drinke water in this place.
9 car cet ordre m’a été donné dans la parole de Yahweh: Tu ne mangeras pas de pain et tu ne boiras pas d’eau, et tu ne reviendras pas par le chemin par lequel tu seras allé. »
For so was it charged mee by the worde of the Lord, saying, Eate no bread nor drinke water, nor turne againe by the same way that thou camest.
10 Il s’en alla donc par un autre chemin, et il ne s’en retourna pas par le chemin par lequel il était venu à Béthel.
So he went another way and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
11 Or il y avait un vieux prophète qui demeurait à Béthel; ses fils vinrent lui raconter toutes les choses que l’homme de Dieu avait faites ce jour-là à Béthel; ils rapportèrent aussi à leur père les paroles qu’il avait dites au roi.
And an olde Prophet dwelt in Beth-el, and his sonnes came and tolde him all ye woorkes, that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and the wordes which he had spoken vnto the King, tolde they their father.
12 Et leur père leur dit: « Par quel chemin s’en est-il allé? » Car ses fils avaient vu par quel chemin s’en était allé l’homme de Dieu qui était venu de Juda.
And their father sayde vnto them, What way went he? and his sonnes shewed him what waye the man of God went, which came from Iudah.
13 Et il dit à ses fils: « Sellez-moi l’âne. » Ils lui sellèrent l’âne, et il monta dessus.
And hee saide vnto his sonnes, Saddle mee the asse. Who sadled him the asse, and hee rode thereon,
14 Il alla après l’homme de Dieu et, l’ayant trouvé assis sous le térébinthe, il lui dit: « Es-tu l’homme de Dieu qui est venu de Juda? » Il répondit: « Je le suis. »
And went after the man of God, and found him sitting vnder an oke: and he saide vnto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Iudah? And he sayd, Yea.
15 Le prophète lui dit: « Viens avec moi à la maison, et tu mangeras un peu de pain. »
Then he said vnto him, Come home with me, and eate bread.
16 Mais il répondit: « Je ne puis ni retourner avec toi, ni entrer avec toi; je ne mangerai point de pain, je ne boirai point d’eau avec toi dans ce lieu,
But he answered, I may not returne with thee, nor go in with thee, neither wil I eate bread nor drinke water with thee in this place.
17 car il m’a été dit dans la parole de Yahweh: Tu n’y mangeras pas de pain et tu n’y boiras pas d’eau, et tu ne reviendras pas par le chemin par lequel tu seras allé. »
For it was charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Thou shalt eate no bread, nor drinke water there, nor turne againe to goe by the way that thou wentest.
18 Et il lui dit: « Moi aussi, je suis prophète comme toi, et un ange m’a parlé dans la parole de Yahweh en ces termes: Ramène-le avec toi dans ta maison, pour qu’il mange du pain et boive de l’eau. » Il lui mentait.
And he said vnto him, I am a Prophet also as thou art, and an Angel spake vnto me by the worde of the Lord, saying, Bring him againe with thee into thine house, that hee may eate bread and drinke water: but he lyed vnto him.
19 L’homme de Dieu retourna avec lui, et il mangea du pain et but de l’eau dans sa maison.
So he went againe with him, and did eate bread in his house, and dranke water.
20 Comme ils étaient assis à table, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée au prophète qui l’avait ramené;
And as they sate at the table, the worde of the Lord came vnto the Prophet, that brought him againe.
21 et il cria à l’homme qui était venu de Juda, en ces termes: « Ainsi parle Yahweh: Parce que tu as été rebelle à l’ordre de Yahweh, et que tu n’as pas observé le commandement que Yahweh, ton Dieu, t’avait prescrit;
And hee cried vnto the man of God that came from Iudah, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandement which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
22 parce que tu es retourné, et que tu as mangé du pain et bu de l’eau dans le lieu dont Yahweh t’avait dit: Tu n’y mangeras pas de pain et n’y boiras pas d’eau, — ton cadavre n’entrera point dans le sépulcre de tes pères. »
But camest backe againe, and hast eaten bread and drunke water in the place (whereof he did say vnto thee, Thou shalt eate no bread nor drinke any water) thy carkeis shall not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
23 Après qu’il eut mangé du pain et qu’il eut bu, le vieux prophète sella l’âne pour lui, savoir, pour le prophète qu’il avait ramené.
And when he had eaten bread and drunke, he sadled him the asse, to wit, to the Prophet whome he had brought againe.
24 L’homme de Dieu s’en étant allé, il fut rencontré sur le chemin par un lion, qui le mit à mort. Pendant que son cadavre était étendu sur le chemin, l’âne resta à côté de lui, et le lion resta à côté du cadavre.
And when hee was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slewe him, and his body was cast in the way, and the asse stoode thereby: the lion stood by the corps also.
25 Et voici, des gens qui passaient virent le cadavre étendu sur le chemin et le lion se tenant à côté du cadavre, et ils en parlèrent à leur arrivée dans la ville où demeurait le vieux prophète.
And beholde, men that passed by, sawe the carkeis cast in the way, and the lion standing by the corps: and they came and tolde it in ye towne where the olde Prophet dwelt.
26 Lorsque le prophète qui avait ramené du chemin l’homme de Dieu, l’eut appris, il dit: « C’est l’homme de Dieu qui a été rebelle à l’ordre de Yahweh, et Yahweh l’a livré au lion qui l’a déchiré et l’a fait mourir, selon la parole que Yahweh lui avait dite. »
And when the Prophet that brought him backe againe from the waye, hearde thereof, hee sayde, It is the man of God, who hath bene disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath deliuered him vnto the lion, which hath rent him and slayne him, according to the worde of the Lord, which hee spake vnto him.
27 Il dit alors à ses fils: « Sellez-moi l’âne. » Lorsqu’ils l’eurent sellé,
And he spake to his sonnes, saying, Saddle me the asse. And they sadled him.
28 il partit et trouva le cadavre étendu sur le chemin, et l’âne et le lion qui se tenaient à côté du cadavre. Le lion n’avait pas dévoré le cadavre et n’avait pas déchiré l’âne.
And he went and founde his body cast in the way, and the asse and the lion stoode by the corps: and the lion had not eaten the bodie, nor torne the asse.
29 Le prophète releva le cadavre de l’homme de Dieu et, l’ayant mis sur l’âne, il le ramena, et le vieux prophète rentra dans la ville pour le pleurer et pour l’enterrer.
And the Prophet tooke vp the body of the man of God, and layed it vpon the asse, and brought it againe, and the olde Prophet came to the citie, to lament and burie him.
30 Il mit le cadavre dans son sépulcre, et ils pleurèrent sur lui, en disant: « Hélas! Mon frère! »
And hee layed his bodie in his owne graue, and they lamented ouer him, saying, Alas, my brother.
31 Lorsqu’il l’eut enterré, il dit à ses fils: « Quand je serai mort, vous m’enterrerez dans le sépulcre où est enterré l’homme de Dieu; vous déposerez mes os à côté de ses os.
And when he had buried him, hee spake to his sonnes, saying, When I am dead, burie ye mee also in the sepulchre, wherein the man of God is buried: lay my bones beside his bones.
32 Car elle s’accomplira la parole qu’il a criée, dans la parole de Yahweh, contre l’autel qui est à Béthel, et contre toutes les maisons de hauts lieux qui sont dans les villes de Samarie. »
For that thing which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar that is in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the hie places, which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to passe.
33 Après cet événement, Jéroboam ne se détourna pas de sa voie mauvaise; de nouveau il créa des prêtres des hauts lieux pris parmi le peuple; quiconque le désirait, il le consacrait et celui-ci devenait prêtre des hauts lieux.
Howbeit after this, Ieroboam conuerted not from his wicked way, but turned againe, and made of the lowest of the people Priests of the hie places. Who would, might consecrate him selfe, and be of the Priestes of the hie places.
34 En cela il y eut péché pour la maison de Jéroboam, et c’est pourquoi elle fut détruite et exterminée de la face de la terre.
And this thing turned to sinne vnto the house of Ieroboam, euen to roote it out, and destroy it from the face of the earth.
