1 Corinthiens 11
1 Soyez mes imitateurs, comme je le suis moi-même du Christ.
Be ye imitators of me, as I am of the Messiah.
2 Je vous loue, [mes frères], de ce que vous vous souvenez de moi à tous égards, et de ce que vous retenez mes instructions telles que je vous les ai données.
Moreover I commend you, my Brethren, that in all things ye are mindful of me, and that ye hold fast the precepts as I delivered them to you.
3 Je veux cependant que vous sachiez que le chef de tout homme c’est le Christ, que le chef de la femme, c’est l’homme, et que le chef du Christ, c’est Dieu.
And I would have you know, that the head of every man is the Messiah, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of the Messiah is God.
4 Tout homme qui prie ou qui prophétise la tête couverte, déshonore sa tête.
Every man, who prayeth or prophesieth with his head covered, dishonoreth his head.
5 Toute femme qui prie ou qui prophétise la tête non voilée, déshonore sa tête: elle est comme celle qui est rasée.
And every woman, who prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered, dishonoreth her head; for she is on a level with her whose head is shaven.
6 Si une femme ne se voile pas la tête, qu’elle se coupe aussi les cheveux. Or, s’il est honteux à une femme d’avoir les cheveux coupés ou la tête rasée, qu’elle se voile.
For if a woman be not covered, let her also be shorn; but if it be shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 L’homme ne doit pas se couvrir la tête, parce qu’il est l’image de la gloire de Dieu, tandis que la femme est la gloire de l’homme.
The man, indeed, ought not to cover his head, because he is the likeness and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 En effet, l’homme n’a pas été tiré de la femme, mais la femme de l’homme;
For the man was not from the woman, but the woman from the man.
9 et l’homme n’a pas été créé pour la femme, mais la femme pour l’homme.
Neither was the man created for the woman's sake, but the woman for the man's sake.
10 C’est pourquoi la femme doit, à cause des anges, avoir sur la tête un signe de sujétion.
For this cause ought the woman to have on her head the mark of authority, because of the angels.
11 Toutefois, ni la femme n’est sans l’homme, ni l’homme sans la femme, dans le Seigneur.
Nevertheless, the man is not without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in our Lord.
12 Car, si la femme a été tirée de l’homme, l’homme aussi naît de la femme, et tout vient de Dieu.
For as the woman was from the man, so the man is by the woman; and every thing is from God.
13 Jugez-en vous-mêmes: est-il bienséant qu’une femme prie Dieu sans être voilée?
Judge for yourselves, among yourselves; is it becoming, that a woman pray to God with her head uncovered?
14 La nature elle-même ne nous enseigne-t-elle pas que c’est une honte à un homme de porter de longs cheveux,
Doth not nature teach you, that in a man, if his hair groweth long, it is a reproach to him?
15 tandis que c’est une gloire pour la femme qu’une longue chevelure, parce que la chevelure lui a été donnée en guise de voile?
But for a woman, if her hair is abundant, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering.
16 Si quelqu’un se plaît à contester, nous n’avons pas cette habitude, non plus que les Églises de Dieu.
But if any one is contentious about these things, we on our part have no such custom, nor hath the church of God.
17 Mais en vous recommandant ce point, je n’ai garde de vous louer de ce que vous vous assemblez, non pour votre avantage, mais pour votre préjudice.
This which I now enjoin, is not as praising you; for ye have not made progress, but have deteriorated.
18 Et d’abord j’apprends que, lorsque vous vous réunissez en assemblée, il y a des scissions parmi vous, — et je le crois en partie;
Because, first; when ye assemble in the church, there are, I hear, divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19 car il faut qu’il y ait parmi vous même des sectes, afin que les frères d’une vertu éprouvée soient manifestés parmi vous, —
For there are to be contentions among you, that the approved among you may be known.
20 lors donc que vous vous réunissez ce n’est plus le repas du Seigneur que vous célébrez;
When therefore ye come together, ye eat and drink, not as is becoming on the day of our Lord.
21 car, à table, chacun commence par prendre son propre repas, en sorte que tels ont faim, tandis que d’autres se gorgent.
But, one and another proceedeth to eat his own supper; and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
22 N’avez-vous pas des maisons pour y manger et boire? ou méprisez-vous l’Église de Dieu, et voulez-vous faire un affront à ceux qui n’ont rien? Que vous dirai-je? Que je vous loue? Non, je ne vous loue point en cela.
What! have ye no houses in which ye can eat and drink? Or, despise ye the church of God, and shame them who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this I praise you not.
23 Car, pour moi, j’ai reçu du Seigneur, ce que je vous ai aussi transmis, savoir, que le Seigneur Jésus, dans la nuit où il fut livré, prit du pain,
For I have received from our Lord, that which I imparted to you; that our Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,
24 et après avoir rendu grâces, le rompit et dit: « [Prenez et mangez]; ceci est mon corps, [qui sera livré] pour vous; faites ceci en mémoire de moi. »
and blessed, and brake it, and said: " Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for your sakes: thus do ye, in remembrance of me."
25 De même, après avoir soupé, il prit le calice et dit: « Ce calice est la nouvelle alliance en mon sang; faites ceci, toutes les fois que vous en boirez, en mémoire de moi. »
So, after they had supped, he gave also the cup, and said: " This cup is the new testament in my blood: thus do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me."
26 Car toutes les fois que vous mangez ce pain et que vous buvez ce calice, vous annoncez la mort du Seigneur, jusqu’à ce qu’il vienne.
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye commemorate the death of our Lord, until his advent.
27 C’est pourquoi celui qui mangera le pain ou boira le calice du Seigneur indignement, sera coupable envers le corps et le sang du Seigneur.
He therefore, who eateth of the bread of the Lord, and drinketh of his cup, and is not worthy of it, is guilty of the blood of the Lord, and of his body.
28 Que chacun donc s’éprouve soi-même, et qu’ainsi il mange de ce pain et boive de ce calice;
For this reason, a man should examine himself, and then eat of this bread, and drink of this cup:
29 car celui qui mange et boit [indignement], sans discerner le corps du Seigneur, mange et boit son propre jugement.
for, whoever eateth and drinketh of it, while he is unworthy, eateth and drinketh condemnation on himself, by not discerning the body of the Lord.
30 C’est pour cela qu’il y a parmi vous beaucoup de gens débiles et de malades, et qu’un grand nombre sont morts.
For this cause, many among you are diseased and sickly, and many sleep.
31 Si nous nous examinions nous-mêmes nous ne serions pas jugés.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 Mais le Seigneur nous juge et nous châtie, afin que nous ne soyons pas condamnés avec ce monde.
But when we are judged by our Lord, we are really chastised, that we may not be condemned with the world.
33 Ainsi, mes frères, lorsque vous vous réunissez pour le repas, attendez-vous les uns les autres.
Wherefore, my Brethren, when ye assemble to eat, wait ye one for another.
34 Si quelqu’un a faim qu’il mange chez lui, afin que vous ne vous réunissiez pas pour votre condamnation. Je réglerai les autres choses quand je serai arrivé chez vous.
And let him who is hungry, eat at home; that ye may assemble, not for condemnation. And as to other things, I will give you directions when I come.
