1 Quant aux fils d’Aaron, voici leurs classes: Fils d’Aaron: Nadab, Abiu, Eléazar et Ithamar.
These were the divisions of the descendants of Aaron. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 Nadab et Abiu moururent avant leur père, sans avoir de fils, et Eléazar et Ithamar remplirent les fonctions du sacerdoce.
But Nadab and Abihu died before their father did, and they had no sons; so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
3 David, Sadoc, de la descendance d’Eléazar, et Achimélech, de la descendance d’Ithamar, répartirent les fils d’Aaron par classes selon leur service.
With the help of Eleazar’s descendant Zadok and Ithamar’s descendant Ahimelech, David divided them according to the offices of their service.
4 On trouva parmi les fils d’Eléazar plus de chefs que parmi les fils d’Ithamar, et on les répartit ainsi: pour les fils d’Eléazar, seize chefs de famille, et, pour les fils d’Ithamar, huit chefs de famille.
Since more leaders were found among Eleazar’s descendants than those of Ithamar, they were divided accordingly. There were sixteen heads of families from the descendants of Eleazar and eight from the descendants of Ithamar.
5 On les répartit par le sort, les uns comme les autres, car il se trouvait des princes du sanctuaire et des princes de Dieu aussi bien parmi les fils d’Eléazar que parmi les fils d’Ithamar.
Thus they were divided by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both Eleazar’s and Ithamar’s descendants.
6 Séméïas, fils de Nathanaël, le secrétaire, un des lévites, les inscrivit devant le roi et les princes, devant Sadoc le grand prêtre, et Achimélech, fils d’Abiathar, et devant les chefs de familles sacerdotales et lévitiques, une famille étant tirée au sort pour Eléazar, puis une famille pour Ithamar.
The scribe, Shemaiah son of Nethanel, a Levite, recorded their names in the presence of the king and of the officers: Zadok the priest, Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and the heads of families of the priests and the Levites—one family being taken from Eleazar, and then one from Ithamar.
7 Le premier sort échut à Joïarib, le deuxième à Jédéï,
The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
8 le troisième à Harim, le quatrième à Séorim,
the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,
9 le cinquième à Melchia, le sixième à Maïman,
the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
10 le septième à Accos, le huitième à Abia,
the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
11 le neuvième à Jésua, le dixième à Séchénia,
the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,
12 le onzième a Eliasib, le douzième à Jacim,
the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,
13 le treizième à Hoppha, le quatorzième à Isbaab,
the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,
14 le quinzième à Belga, le seizième à Emmer,
the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,
15 le dix-septième à Hézir, le dix-huitième à Aphsès,
the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,
16 le dix-neuvième à Phétéïa, le vingtième à Hézéchiel,
the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,
17 le vingt et unième à Jachin, le vingt-deuxième à Gamul,
the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul,
18 le vingt-troisième à Dalaiaü, le vingt-quatrième à Mazziaü.
the twenty-third to Delaiah, and the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.
19 Telles furent leurs classes selon leur service, afin qu’ils vinssent à la maison de Yahweh, selon le règlement qu’ils avaient reçu par l’organe d’Aaron, leur père, comme le lui avait ordonné Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël.
This was their appointed order for service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
20 Voici les chefs du reste des lévites: des fils d’Amram: Subaël; des fils de Subaël: Jéhédéïa;
Now these were the remaining descendants of Levi: From the sons of Amram: Shubael; from the sons of Shubael: Jehdeiah.
21 de Rohobia, des fils de Rohobia: le chef Jésias.
As for Rehabiah, from his sons: The first was Isshiah.
22 Des Isaarites: Salémoth; des fils de Salémoth: Jahath.
From the Izharites: Shelomoth; from the sons of Shelomoth: Jahath.
23 Fils d’Hébron: Jériaü le premier, Amarias le deuxième, Jahaziel le troisième, Jecmaan le quatrième.
From the sons of Hebron: Jeriah was the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
24 Fils d’Oziel: Micha; des fils de Micha: Samir;
From the sons of Uzziel: Micah; from the sons of Micah: Shamir.
25 frère de Micha: Jésia; fils de Jésia: Zacharias. —
The brother of Micah: Isshiah; from the sons of Isshiah: Zechariah.
26 Fils de Mérari: Moholi et Musi.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The son of Jaaziah: Beno.
27 Fils de Mérari, par Oziaü, son fils: Saam, Zachur et Hébri.
The descendants of Merari from Jaaziah: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
28 De Moholi: Eléazar, qui n’eut point de fils;
From Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.
29 de Cis, les fils de Cis; Jéraméel.
From Kish: Jerahmeel the son of Kish.
30 Fils de Musi: Moholi, Eder et Jérimoth.
And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites, according to their families.
31 Ce sont là les fils de Lévi, selon leurs familles. Eux aussi, comme leurs frères, les fils d’Aaron, ils tirèrent le sort devant le roi David, devant Sadoc et Achimélech, et devant les chefs de famille sacerdotales et lévitiques, les plus anciens étant sur le même pied que les plus jeunes.
As their brothers the descendants of Aaron did, they also cast lots in the presence of King David and of Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the families of the priests and Levites—the family heads and their younger brothers alike.
