1 Chroniques 18
1 Après cela, David battit les Philistins et les abaissa, et il ôta de la main des Philistins Geth et les villes de sa dépendance.
After this it came about that David attacked the Philistines and defeated them. He took Gath and its villages out of the Philistines' control.
2 Il battit les Moabites, et les Moabites furent pour David des esclaves, lui apportant le tribut.
Then he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David and paid him tribute.
3 David battit Hadarézer, roi de Soba, vers Hamath, lorsqu’il était en chemin pour établir sa domination sur le fleuve de l’Euphrate.
David then defeated Hadadezer, king of Zobah at Hamath, as Hadadezer was traveling to establish his rule by the Euphrates River.
4 David lui prit mille chars, sept mille cavaliers et vingt mille hommes de pied; David coupa les jarrets à tous les chevaux d’attelage, et n’en laissa que cent attelages.
David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen. David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved enough of them for a hundred chariots.
5 Les Syriens de Damas étant venus au secours d’Hadarézer, roi de Soba, David battit aux Syriens vingt-deux mille hommes.
When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand Aramean men.
6 David mit des garnisons dans la Syrie de Damas; les Syriens furent pour David des esclaves, apportant le tribut. Yahweh donnait la victoire à David partout où il allait.
Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to him and brought him tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
7 David prit les boucliers d’or qui étaient sur les serviteurs d’Hadarézer et les apporta à Jérusalem.
David took the golden shields that were on Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 David prit encore une grande quantité d’airain à Thébath et à Chun, villes d’Hadarézer; Salomon en fit la mer d’airain, les colonnes et les ustensiles d’airain.
From Tebah and Kun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much bronze. It was with this bronze that Solomon later made the bronze basin called “The Sea,” the pillars, and the bronze equipment.
9 Lorsque Thoü, roi de Hamath, apprit que David avait battu toutes les forces d’Hadarézer, roi de Soba,
When Tou, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
10 il envoya Adoram, son fils, vers le roi David, pour le saluer et pour le féliciter d’avoir attaqué Hadarézer et de l’avoir battu; car Thoü était constamment en guerre avec Hadarézer. Il envoya aussi toutes sortes de vases d’or, d’argent et d’airain.
and so Tou sent Hadoram his son to King David to greet him and to bless him. He did this because David had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, and because Tou had often been at war with Hadadezer. Tou also sent David many different sorts of articles made of gold and silver and bronze.
11 Le roi David les consacra à Yahweh avec l’argent et l’or qu’il avait pris à toutes les nations, à Edom, à Moab, aux fils d’Ammon, aux Philistins et à Amalec.
King David set these objects apart to Yahweh, together with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations: Edom, Moab, the people of Ammon, the Philistines, and Amalek.
12 Abisaï, fils de Sarvia, battit les Edomites, dans la vallée du Sel, au nombre de dix-huit mille.
Abishai son of Zeruiah killed eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
13 Il mit des garnisons dans Edom, et tout Edom fut assujetti à David. Et Yahweh donnait la victoire à David partout où il allait.
He placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David's servants. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
14 David régna sur tout Israël, et il fit droit et justice à tout son peuple.
David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and righteousness to all his people.
15 Joab, fils de Sarvia, commandait l’armée; Josaphat, fils d’Ahilud, était archiviste;
Joab son of Zeruiah was the commander of the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder.
16 Sadoc, fils d’Achitob, et Achimélech, fils d’Abiathar, étaient prêtres; Susa était secrétaire;
Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was scribe.
17 Banaïas, fils de Joïada, était chef des Céréthiens et des Phéléthiens; et les fils de David étaient les premiers au côté du roi.
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites, and David's sons were the chief officials at the hand of the king.
