Psaumes 91
1 Celui qui s’abrite sous la protection du Très-Haut repose à l’ombre du Tout-Puissant.
O thou that dwellest in the covert of the Most High, and abidest in the shadow of the Almighty;
2 Je dis à Yahweh: « Tu es mon refuge et ma forteresse, mon Dieu en qui je me confie. »
I will say of the LORD, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust,
3 Car c’est lui qui te délivre du filet de l’oiseleur et de la peste funeste.
That He will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 Il te couvrira de ses ailes, et sous ses plumes tu trouveras un refuge. Sa fidélité est un bouclier et une cuirasse.
He will cover thee with His pinions, and under His wings shalt thou take refuge; His truth is a shield and a buckler.
5 Tu n’auras à craindre ni les terreurs de la nuit, ni la flèche qui vole pendant le jour,
Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flieth by day;
6 ni la peste qui marche dans les ténèbres, ni la contagion qui ravage en plein midi.
Of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor of the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 Que mille tombent à ton côté, et dix mille à ta droite, tu ne seras pas atteint.
A thousand may fall at Thy side, and ten thousand at Thy right hand; it shall not come nigh thee.
8 De tes yeux seulement tu regarderas, et tu verras la rétribution des méchants.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the recompense of the wicked.
9 Car tu as dit: « Tu es mon refuge, Yahweh! » tu as fait du Très-Haut ton asile.
For thou hast made the LORD who is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation.
10 Le malheur ne viendra pas jusqu’à toi, aucun fléau n’approchera de ta tente.
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.
11 Car il ordonnera à ses anges de te garder dans toutes tes voies.
For He will give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 Ils te porteront sur leurs mains, de peur que ton pied ne heurte contre la pierre.
They shall bear thee upon their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Tu marcheras sur le lion et sur l’aspic, tu fouleras le lionceau et le dragon. —
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and asp; the young lion and the serpent shalt thou trample under feet.
14 « Puisqu’il s’est attaché à moi, je le délivrerai; je le protégerai, puisqu’il connaît mon nom.
'Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known My name.
15 Il m’invoquera et je l’exaucerai; je serai avec lui dans la détresse. « Je le délivrerai et le glorifierai.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him, and bring him to honour.
16 Je le rassasierai de longs jours, et je lui ferai voir mon salut. »
With long life will I satisfy him, and make Him to behold My salvation.'
