Psaumes 52
1 Au maître de chant. Cantique de David. Lorsque Doëg l’Edomite vint faire à Saül ce rapport: David s’est rendu dans la maison d’Achimélech. Pourquoi te glorifies-tu dans le mal, ô héros! — La bonté de Dieu subsiste toujours! —
Unto the end. The understanding of David. When Doeg the Edomite came and reported to Saul, David went to the house of Ahimelech. Why do you glory in malice, you who are powerful in iniquity?
2 Ta langue ne médite que malice, comme une lame affilée, fourbe que tu es!
All day long your tongue thinks up injustice. Like a sharp razor, you have wrought deceit.
3 Tu aimes le mal plutôt que le bien, le mensonge plutôt que la droiture. — Séla.
You have loved malice above goodness, and iniquity more than speaking righteousness.
4 Tu aimes toutes les paroles de perdition, ô langue menteuse!
You have loved all precipitous words, you deceitful tongue.
5 Aussi Dieu va te renverser pour toujours, il te saisira et t’arrachera de la tente, il te déracinera de la terre des vivants. — Séla.
Because of this, God will destroy you in the end. He will pull you up, and he will remove you from your tabernacle and your root from the land of the living.
6 Les justes le verront et ils seront effrayés, et ils se riront de lui:
The just will see and be afraid, and they will laugh over him, and say:
7 « Voilà l’homme qui ne prenait pas Dieu pour sa forteresse, mais qui se confiait dans la grandeur de ses richesses, et se faisait fort de sa malice! »
“Behold the man who did not set God as his helper. But he hoped in the multitude of his riches, and so he prevailed in his emptiness.”
8 Et moi, je suis comme un olivier verdoyant; dans la maison de Dieu, je me confie dans la bonté de Dieu à tout jamais.
But I, like a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, have hoped in the mercy of God unto eternity, and forever and ever.
9 Je te louerai sans cesse parce que tu as fait cela; et j’espérerai en ton nom, car il est bon, en présence de tes fidèles.
I will confess to you forever, because you have accomplished it. And I will wait on your name, for it is good in the sight of your saints.
