Psaumes 104
1 Mon âme, bénis Yahweh! Yahweh, mon Dieu, tu es infiniment grand, Tu es revêtu de majesté et de splendeur!
[A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you have clothed yourself with praise and honour:
2 Il s’enveloppe de lumière comme d’un manteau, il déploie les cieux comme une tente.
who do robe yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain.
3 Dans les eaux du ciel il bâtit sa demeure, des nuées il fait son char, il s’avance sur les ailes du vent,
Who covers his chambers with waters; who makes the clouds his chariot; who walks on the wings of the wind.
4 Des vents il fait ses messagers, des flammes de feu ses serviteurs.
Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flaming fire.
5 Il a affermi la terre sur ses bases: elle est à jamais inébranlable.
Who establishes the earth on her sure foundation: it shall not be moved for ever.
6 Tu l’avais enveloppée de l’abîme comme d’un vêtement; les eaux recouvraient les montagnes.
The deep, as it were a garment, is his covering: the waters shall stand on the hills.
7 Elles s’enfuirent devant ta menace; au bruit de ton tonnerre, elles reculèrent épouvantées.
At your rebuke they shall flee; at the voice of your thunder they shall be alarmed.
8 Les montagnes surgirent, les vallées se creusèrent, au lieu que tu leur avais assigné.
They go up to the mountains, and down to the plains, to the place which you have founded for them.
9 Tu poses une limite que les eaux ne franchiront plus: elles ne reviendront plus couvrir la terre.
You have set a bound which they shall not pass, neither shall they turn again to cover the earth.
10 Il envoie les sources dans les vallées; elles s’écoulent entre les montagnes.
He sends forth his fountains amongst the valleys: the waters shall run between the mountains.
11 Elles abreuvent tous les animaux des champs, les onagres viennent y étancher leur soif.
They shall give drink to all the wild beasts of the field: the wild asses shall take [of them] to [quench] their thirst.
12 Les oiseaux du ciel habitent sur leurs bords, et font résonner leur voix dans le feuillage.
By them shall the birds of the sky lodge: they shall utter a voice out of the midst of the rocks.
13 De sa haute demeure il arrose les montagnes; la terre se rassasie du fruit de tes œuvres.
He waters the mountains from his chambers: the earth shall be satisfied with the fruit of your works.
14 Il fait croître l’herbe pour les troupeaux, et les plantes pour l’usage de l’homme; Il tire le pain du sein de la terre,
He makes grass to grow for the cattle, and green herb for the service of men, to bring bread out of the earth;
15 et le vin qui réjouit le cœur de l’homme; il lui donne l’huile qui brille sur sa face, et le pain qui affermit son cœur.
and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face cheerful with oil: and bread strengthens man's heart.
16 Les arbres de Yahweh sont pleins de sève, et les cèdres du Liban qu’il a plantés.
The trees of the plain shall be full [of sap]; [even] the cedars of Libanus which he has planted.
17 C’est là que les oiseaux font leurs nids, et la cigogne qui habite dans les cyprès.
There the sparrows will build their nests; and the house of the heron takes the lead amongst them.
18 Les montagnes élevées sont pour les chamois, les rochers sont l’abri des gerboises.
The high mountains are a refuge for the stags, [and] the rock for the rabbits.
19 Il a fait la lune pour marquer les temps, et le soleil qui connaît l’heure de son coucher.
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knows his going down.
20 Il amène les ténèbres, et il est nuit; aussitôt se mettent en mouvement toutes les bêtes de la forêt.
You did make darkness, and it was night; in it all the wild beasts of the forest will be abroad:
21 Les lionceaux rugissent après la proie, et demandent à Dieu leur nourriture.
[even] young lions roaring for prey, and to seek meat for themselves from God.
22 Le soleil se lève: ils se retirent, et se couchent dans leurs tanières.
The sun arises, and they shall be gathered together, and shall lie down in their dens.
23 L’homme sort alors pour sa tâche, et pour son travail jusqu’au soir.
Man shall go forth to his work, and to his labour till evening.
24 Que tes œuvres sont nombreuses, Yahweh! Tu les as toutes faites avec sagesse; La terre est remplie de tes biens.
How great are your works, O Lord! in wisdom have you wrought them all: the earth is filled with your creation.
25 Voici la mer, large et vaste: là fourmillent sans nombre des animaux petits et grands;
[So is] this great and wide sea: there are things creeping innumerable, small animals and great.
26 là se promènent les navires, et le léviathan que tu as formé pour se jouer dans les flots.
There go the ships; [and] this dragon whom you have made to play in it.
27 Tous attendent de toi que tu leur donnes la nourriture en son temps.
All wait upon you, to give them [their] food in due season.
28 Tu la leur donnes, et ils la recueillent; Tu ouvres ta main, et ils se rassasient de tes biens.
When you have given [it] them, they will gather [it]; and when you have opened your hand, they shall all be filled with good.
29 Tu caches ta face: ils sont dans l’épouvante; tu leur retire le souffle: ils expirent, et retournent dans leur poussière.
But when you have turned away your face, they shall be troubled: you will take away their breath, and they shall fail, and return to their dust.
30 Tu envoies ton souffle: ils sont créés, et tu renouvelles la face de la terre.
You shall send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created; and you shall renew the face of the earth.
31 Que la gloire de Yahweh subsiste à jamais! Que Yahweh se réjouisse de ses œuvres!
Let the glory of the Lord be for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works;
32 Il regarde la terre et elle tremble; il touche les montagnes, et elles fument.
who looks upon the earth, and makes it tremble; who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 Je veux chanter Yahweh tant que je vivrai, célébrer mon Dieu tant que j’existerai.
I will sing to the Lord while I live; I will sing praise to my God while I exist.
34 Puisse mon cantique lui être agréable! Moi, je mets ma joie en Yahweh.
Let my meditation be sweet to him: and I will rejoice in the Lord.
35 Que les pécheurs disparaissent de la terre, et que les méchants ne soient plus! Mon âme, bénis Yahweh! Alleluia!
Let the sinners fail from off the earth, and transgressors, so that they shall be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
