Psaumes 101

1 Psaume de David Je veux chanter la bonté et la justice; C’est toi, Yahweh, que je veux célébrer.

“A psalm of David.” I will sing of mercy and justice; To thee, O LORD! will I sing!

2 Je prendrai garde à la voie de l’innocence. — Quand viendras-tu à moi? — Je marcherai dans l’intégrité de mon cœur, au milieu de ma maison.

I will have regard to the way of uprightness: When thou shalt come to me, I will walk within my house with an upright heart.

3 Je ne mettrai devant mes yeux aucune action mauvaise. Je hais la conduite perverse; elle ne s’attachera pas à moi.

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes; I hate the work of evil-doers; It shall not cleave to me.

4 Un cœur faux ne sera jamais le mien; je ne veux pas connaître le mal.

The perverse in heart shall be far from me; I will not know a wicked person.

5 Le détracteur qui déchire en secret son prochain, je l’exterminerai; L’homme au regard hautain et au cœur gonflé d’orgueil, je ne le supporterai pas.

Whoso slandereth his neighbor in secret, him will I cut off; Him that hath a haughty look and a proud heart I will not endure.

6 J’aurai les yeux sur les hommes fidèles du pays, pour qu’ils demeurent auprès de moi; celui qui marche dans une voie intègre sera mon serviteur.

Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; He that walketh in the way of uprightness shall serve me.

7 Il n’aura pas de place dans ma maison, celui qui agit avec fourberie; celui qui profère le mensonge ne subsistera pas devant mes yeux.

He who practiseth deceit shall not dwell in my house; He who telleth lies shall not remain in my sight.

8 Chaque matin j’exterminerai tous les méchants du pays, afin de retrancher de la cité de Yahweh tous ceux qui commettent l’iniquité.

Every morning will I destroy the wicked of the land, That I may cut off all evil-doers from the city of the LORD.
