1 Voici les campements des enfants d’Israël, quand ils sortirent du pays d’Égypte, selon leurs troupes, sous la conduite de Moïse et d’Aaron.
These are the lodging places of the sons of Israel, who departed from Egypt by their companies under the hand of Moses and Aaron,
2 Moïse mit par écrit les lieux d’où ils partirent, selon leurs campements, d’après l’ordre de Yahweh, et voici leurs campements selon leurs départs:
which Moses wrote down according to the places of the encampments, which they changed upon the order of the Lord.
3 Ils partirent de Ramsès le premier mois, le quinzième jour du premier mois. Le lendemain de la Pâque, les enfants d’Israël sortirent la main levée, à la vue de tous les Egyptiens.
Thus the sons of Israel set out from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month, on the day after the Passover, with an exalted hand, being seen by all the Egyptians.
4 Et les Egyptiens enterraient ceux que Yahweh avait frappés parmi eux, tous leurs premiers-nés; Yahweh exerça aussi des jugements sur leurs dieux.
And these were burying their firstborn, whom the Lord had struck down (for so, too, did he carry out retribution against their gods).
5 Etant partis de Ramsès, les enfants d’Israël campèrent à Soccoth.
And they made camp at Soccoth.
6 Ils partirent de Soccoth et campèrent à Etham, qui est aux confins du désert.
And from Soccoth they went to Etham, which is at the furthest limits of the wilderness.
7 Ils partirent d’Etham et, ayant tourné vers Phihahiroth, qui est vis-à-vis de Béel-séphon, ils campèrent devant Magdalum.
Departing from there, they arrived opposite Pi-hahiroth, which looks out toward Baal-zephon, and they were encamped before Migdol.
8 Ils partirent de devant Phihahiroth et passèrent au milieu de la mer, vers le désert. Après trois journées de marche dans le désert d’Etham, ils campèrent à Mara.
And setting out from Pi-hahiroth, they crossed through the middle of the Sea into the wilderness. And having walked for three days through the desert of Etham, they made camp at Marah.
9 Ils partirent de Mara et arrivèrent à Élim, où il y avait douze sources d’eau et soixante-dix palmiers, et ils y campèrent.
And setting out from Marah, they arrived at Elim, where there were twelve fountains of water and seventy palm trees. And they set up camp there.
10 Ils partirent d’Élim et campèrent près de la mer Rouge.
But departing from there also, they fixed their tents above the Red Sea. And setting out from the Red Sea,
11 Ils partirent de la mer Rouge et campèrent dans le désert de Sin.
they were encamped in the desert of Sin.
12 Ils partirent du désert de Sin et campèrent à Daphca.
Departing from there, they went to Dophkah.
13 Ils partirent de Daphca et campèrent à Alus.
And setting out from Dophkah, they made camp at Alush.
14 Ils partirent d’Alus et campèrent à Raphidim, et il n’y eut pas là d’eau à boire pour le peuple.
And departing from Alush, they fixed their tents at Rephidim, where the people lacked water to drink.
15 Ils partirent de Raphidim et campèrent dans le désert de Sinaï.
And setting out from Rephidim, they camped in the desert of Sinai.
16 Ils partirent du désert de Sinaï et campèrent à Kibroth-Hattaava.
But departing also from the wilderness of the Sinai, they arrived at the Graves of Lust.
17 Ils partirent de Kibroth-Hattaava et campèrent à Haséroth.
And setting out from the Graves of Lust, they were encamped at Hazeroth.
18 Ils partirent de Haséroth et campèrent à Rethma.
And from Hazeroth, they went to Rithmah.
19 Ils partirent de Rethma et campèrent à Remmonpharès.
And setting out from Rithmah, they made camp at Rimmon-perez.
20 Ils partirent de Remmonpharès et campèrent à Lebna.
And departing from there, they arrived at Libnah.
21 Ils partirent de Lebna et campèrent à Ressa.
From Libnah, they made camp at Rissah.
22 Ils partirent de Ressa et campèrent à Céélatha.
And departing from Rissah, they went to Kehelathah.
23 Ils partirent de Céélatha et campèrent à la montagne de Sépher.
Setting out from there, they were encamped at mount Shepher.
24 Ils partirent de la montagne de Sépher et campèrent à Arada.
Departing from mount Shepher, they went to Haradah.
25 Ils partirent d’Arada et campèrent à Macéloth.
Continuing on from there, they made camp at Makheloth.
26 Ils partirent de Macéloth et campèrent à Thahath.
And setting out from Makheloth, they went to Tahath.
27 Ils partirent de Thahath et campèrent à Tharé.
From Tahath, they made camp at Terah.
28 Ils partirent de Tharé et campèrent à Metcha.
Departing from there, they pitched their tents at Mithkah.
29 Ils partirent de Metcha et campèrent à Hesmona.
And from Mithkah, they were encamped at Hashmonah.
30 Ils partirent de Hesmona et campèrent à Moséroth.
And setting out from Hashmonah, they went to Moseroth.
31 Ils partirent de Moséroth et campèrent à Bené-Jaacan.
And from Moseroth, they made camp at Bene-jaakan.
32 Ils partirent de Bené-Jaacan et campèrent à Hor-Gadgad.
And setting out from Bene-jaakan, they went to mount Gidgad.
33 Ils partirent de Hor-Gadgad et campèrent à Jétébatha.
Setting out from there, they were encamped at Jotbathah.
34 Ils partirent de Jétébatha et campèrent à Hébrona.
And from Jotbathah, they went to Abronah.
35 Ils partirent de Hébrona et campèrent à Asiongaber.
And departing from Abronah, they made camp at Eziongeber.
36 Ils partirent d’Asiongaber et campèrent dans le désert de Sin, c’est-à-dire à Cadès.
Setting out from there, they went into the desert of Sin, which is Kadesh.
37 Ils partirent de Cadès et campèrent à la montagne de Hor, à l’extrémité du pays d’Edom.
And departing from Kadesh, they encamped at mount Hor, at the furthermost limits of the land of Edom.
38 Aaron, le prêtre, monta sur la montagne de Hor, sur l’ordre de Yahweh, et il y mourut, la quarantième année après la sortie des enfants d’Israël du pays d’Égypte, le cinquième mois, le premier jour du mois.
And Aaron the priest ascended onto mount Hor, by the order of the Lord. And there he died, in the fortieth year of the departure of the sons of Israel from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month,
39 Aaron était âgé de cent vingt-trois ans lorsqu’il mourut sur la montagne de Hor.
when he was one hundred twenty-three years old.
40 Ce fut alors que le Canaanéen, roi d’Arad, qui habitait le Négeb dans le pays de Canaan, apprit l’arrivée des enfants d’Israël.
And king Arad the Canaanite, who lived toward the south, heard that the sons of Israel had arrived in the land of Canaan.
41 Ils partirent de la montagne de Hor et campèrent à Salmona.
And setting out from mount Hor, they made camp at Zalmonah.
42 Ils partirent de Salmona et campèrent à Phunon.
Departing from there, they went to Punon.
43 Ils partirent de Phunon et campèrent à Oboth.
And setting out from Punon, they were encamped at Oboth.
44 Ils partirent d’Oboth et campèrent à Ijé-Abarim, à la frontière de Moab.
And from Oboth, they went to Iye-abarim, which is at the borders of the Moabites.
45 Ils partirent de Ijé-Abarim et campèrent à Dibon-Gad.
And setting out from Iye-abarim, they fixed their tents at Dibon-gad.
46 Ils partirent de Dibon-Gad et campèrent à Helmon-Deblathaïm.
Departing from there, they made camp at Almon-diblathaim.
47 Ils partirent d’Helmon-Deblathaïm et campèrent aux monts Abarim, en face de Nébo.
And departing from Almon-diblathaim, they went to the mountains of Abarim, opposite Nebo.
48 Ils partirent des monts Abarim et campèrent dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho.
And setting out from the mountains of Abarim, they crossed over to the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
49 Ils campèrent près du Jourdain, depuis Bethsimoth jusqu’à Abel-Settim, dans les plaines de Moab.
And they made camp there, from Beth-jeshimoth all the way to Abel-shittim, in the level places of the Moabites,
50 Yahweh parla à Moïse dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho, en disant:
where the Lord said to Moses:
51 « Parle aux enfants d’Israël: Lorsque vous aurez passé le Jourdain et que vous serez entrés dans le pays de Canaan,
“Instruct the sons of Israel, and say to them: When you will have crossed over the Jordan, entering into the land of Canaan,
52 vous expulserez devant vous tous les habitants du pays, vous détruirez toutes leurs pierres sculptées, et vous détruirez toutes leurs images d’airain fondu, et vous dévasterez tous leurs hauts lieux.
destroy all the inhabitants of that land. Break their monuments, and shatter their statues, and lay waste to every exalted thing,
53 Vous prendrez possession du pays et vous l’habiterez; car je vous ai donné le pays pour le posséder.
cleansing the land and living in it. For I have given it you as a possession,
54 Vous partagerez le pays par le sort, selon vos familles; vous donnerez un héritage plus grand à ceux qui sont en plus grand nombre, et tu donneras un héritage plus petit à ceux qui sont en plus petit nombre. Ce que le sort assignera à chacun lui appartiendra; vous le recevrez en propriété, selon vos tribus patriarcales.
which you shall divide among you by lot. To the greater number you shall give more, and to the lesser number, less. To each one, just as the lot shall fall, so shall the inheritance be distributed. The possession shall be divided by the tribes and families.
55 Mais si vous n’expulsez pas devant vous les habitants du pays, ceux d’entre eux que vous laisserez seront comme des épines dans vos yeux et comme des aiguillons dans vos flancs, et ils vous traiteront en ennemis dans le pays que vous allez habiter.
But if you are not willing to put to death the inhabitants of the land, those who remain shall be to you like spikes in your eyes and lances in your sides, and they shall be adversaries to you in the land of your habitation.
56 Et je vous traiterai vous-même comme j’avais résolu de les traiter. »
And whatever I had decided to do to them, I will do to you.”
