Néhémie 12

1 Voici les prêtres et les lévites qui revinrent avec Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, et avec Josué: Saraïas, Jérémie, Esdras,

Now these are the priests and the Levites, that went up with Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Josue: Saraia, Jeremias, Esdras,

2 Amarias, Melluch, Hattus,

Amaria, Melluch, Hattus,

3 Sechénias, Réhum, Mérimuth,

Sebenias, Rheum, Merimuth,

4 Addo, Genthon, Abias,

Addo, Genthon, Abia,

5 Miamin, Maadias, Belga,

Miamin, Madia, Belga,

6 Seméïas, Joïarib, Idaïas,

Semeia, and Joiarib, Idaia, Sellum, Amoc, Helcias,

7 Sellum, Amoc, Helcias, Idaïas. Ce furent là les chefs des prêtres et de leurs frères au temps de Josué.

Idaia. These were the chief of the priests, and of their brethren in the days of Josue.

8 Lévites: Josué, Bennui, Cedmiel, Sarébias, Juda, Mathanias, qui était préposé, avec ses frères, au chant des louanges;

And the Levites, Jesua, Bennui, Cedmihel, Sarebia, Juda, Mathanias, they and their brethren were over the hymns:

9 Becbécias et Hanni, leurs frères, formaient dans le service le chœur opposé.

And Becbecia, and Hanni, and their brethren every one in his office.

10 Josué engendra Joakim, Joakim engendra Eliasib, Eliasib engendra Joïada,

And Josue beget Joacim, and Joacim beget Eliasib, and Eliasib beget Joiada,

11 Joïada engendra Jonathan, et Jonathan engendra Jeddoa.

And Joiada beget Jonathan, and Jonathan beget Jeddoa.

12 Voici quels étaient, au temps de Joakim, les prêtres, chefs de famille: pour Saraïas, Maraïas; pour Jérémie, Ananie;

And in the days of Joacim the priests and heads of the families were: Of Saraia, Maraia: of Jeremias, Hanania:

13 pour Esdras, Mosollam; pour Amarias, Johanan;

Of Esdras, Mosollam: and of Amaria, Johanan:

14 pour Milicho, Jonathan; pour Sébénias, Joseph;

Of Milicho, Jonathan: of Sebenia, Joseph:

15 pour Haram, Edna; pour Maraïoth, Helci;

Of Haram, Edna: of Maraioth, Helci:

16 pour Addo, Zacharie; pour Genthon, Mosollam;

Of Adaia, Zacharia: of Genthon, Mosollam:

17 pour Abias, Zéchri; pour Miamin et Moadias, Phelti;

Of Abia, Zechri: of Miamin and Moadia, Phelti:

18 pour Belga, Sammua; pour Séméias, Jonathan;

Of Belga, Sammua of Semaia, Jonathan:

19 pour Joïarib, Mathanaï; pour Jodaïas, Azzi;

Of Joiarib, Mathanai: of Jodaia, Azzi:

20 pour Sellaï, Célaï; pour Amoc, Héber;

Of Sellai, Celai: of Amoc, Heber:

21 pour Helcias, Hasébias; pour Idaïas, Nathanaël.

Of Helcias, Hasebia: of Idaia, Nathanael.

22 Au temps d’Eliasib, de Joiada, de Johanan et de Jeddoa, les lévites, chefs de famille, et les prêtres furent inscrits, sous le règne de Darius, le Perse.

The Levites the chiefs of the families in the days of Eliasib, and Joiada, and Johanan, and Jeddoa, were recorded, and the priests in the reign of Darius the Persian.

23 Les fils de Lévi, chefs de famille, furent inscrits dans le livre des Chroniques, jusqu’au temps de Johanan, fils d’Eliasib.

The sons of Levi, heads of the families were written in the book of Chronicles, even unto the days of Jonathan the son of Eliasib.

24 Chefs des lévites: Hasébias, Sérébias et Josué, fils de Cedmiel, chargés, avec leurs frères en face d’eux, de célébrer et de louer Dieu, selon l’ordre de David, homme de Dieu, un groupe alternant avec l’autre groupe.

Now the chief of the Levites were Hasebia, Serebia, and Josue the son of Cedmihel: and their brethren by their courses, to praise and to give thanks according to the commandment of David the man of God, and to wait equally in order.

25 Mathanias, Becbécias, Abdias, Mosollam, Telmon et Accub, portiers, faisaient la garde au seuil des portes.

Mathania, and Becbecia, Obedia, and Mosollam, Telmon, Accub, were keepers of the gates and of the entrances before the gates.

26 Ils vivaient au temps de Joakim, fils de Josué, fils de Josédec, et au temps de Néhémie, le gouverneur, et d’Esdras, le prêtre et le scribe.

These were in the days of Joacim the son of Josue, the son of Josedec, and in the days of Nehemias the governor, and of Esdras the priest and scribe.

27 Lors de la dédicace des murailles de Jérusalem, on convoqua les lévites de tous les lieux qu’ils habitaient, pour les faire venir à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer la dédicace avec joie, avec des louanges et des chants, au son des cymbales, des cithares et des harpes.

And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, and to keep the dedication, and to rejoice with thanksgiving, and with singing, and with cymbals, and psalteries and harps.

28 Les fils des chantres se rassemblèrent de la campagne environnant Jérusalem, des villages des Nétophatiens,

And the sons of the singing men were gathered together out of the plain country about Jerusalem, and out of the villages of Nethuphati,

29 de Beth-Galgal et du territoire de Géba et d’Azmaveth; car les chantres s’étaient bâti des villages aux alentours de Jérusalem.

And from the house of Galgal, and from the countries of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singing men had built themselves villages round about Jerusalem.

30 Les prêtres et les lévites, après s’être purifiés, purifièrent le peuple, les portes et la muraille.

And the priests and the Levites purified, and they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.

31 Je fis monter sur la muraille les princes de Juda, et je formai deux grands chœurs de procession. Le premier chœur se mit en marche vers le côté droit, sur la muraille, vers la porte du Fumier.

And I made the princes of Juda go up upon the wall, and I appointed two great choirs to give praise. And they went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dunghill gate.

32 Derrière eux marchaient Osaïas et la moitié des princes de Juda,

And after them went Osaias, and half of the princes of Juda,

33 Azarias, Esdras, Mosollam,

And Azarias, Esdras, and Mosollam,

34 Juda, Benjamin, Séméïas et Jérémie;

Judas, and Benjamin, and Semeia, and Jeremias.

35 des fils de prêtres avec des trompettes, Zacharie, fils de Jonathan, fils de Séméïas, fils de Mathanias, fils de Michée, fils de Zéchur, fils d’Asaph,

And of the sons of the priests with trumpets, Zacharias the son of Jonathan. the son of Semeia, the son of Mathania; the son of Michaia, the son of Zechur, the son of Asaph,

36 et ses frères, Séméïas, Azaréel, Malalaï, Galalaï, Maaï, Nathanaël, Juda et Hanani, avec les instruments de musique de David, homme de Dieu. Esdras, le scribe, était devant eux.

And his brethren Semeia, and Azareel Malalai, Galalai, Maai, Nathanael, and Judas, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God: and Esdras the scribe before them at the fountain gate.

37 A la porte de la Source, ils montèrent vis-à-vis d’eux les degrés de la cité de David, par la montée de la muraille, au-dessus de la maison de David, jusqu’à la porte de l’Eau, vers l’orient.

And they went up over against them by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall of the house of David, and to the water gate eastward:

38 Le second chœur se mit en marche du côté opposé; j’étais derrière lui, avec l’autre moitié du peuple, sur la muraille. D’au-dessus de la tour des Fourneaux, on alla jusqu’à la muraille large;

And the second choir of them that gave thanks went on the opposite side, and I after them, and the half of the people upon the wall, and upon the tower of the furnaces, even to the broad wall,

39 puis, d’au dessus de la porte d’Ephraïm, de la Vieille porte, de la porte des Poissons, de la tour de Hananéel et de la tour de Méa, jusqu’à la porte des Brebis; et l’on s’arrêta à la porte de la Prison.

And above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Emath, and even to the flock gate: and they stood still in the watch gate.

40 Les deux chœurs s’arrêtèrent dans la maison de Dieu, ainsi que moi et la moitié des magistrats qui étaient avec moi,

And the two choirs of them that gave praise stood still at the house of God, and I and the half of the magistrates with me.

41 et les prêtres Eliacim, Maasias, Miamin, Michée, Elioénaï, Zacharie, Ananie, avec des trompettes,

And the priests, Eliachim, Maasia, Miamin, Michea, Elioenai, Zacharia, Hanania with trumpets,

42 et Maasias, Séméïas, Eléazar, Azzi, Johanan, Melchias, Elam et Ezer. Et les chantres se firent entendre, avec Jezraïas, leur chef.

And Maasia, and Semeia, and Eleazar, and Azzi, and Johanan, and Melchia, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sung loud, and Jezraia was their overseer:

43 Ils offrirent ce jour-là de grands sacrifices et se livrèrent aux réjouissances, car Dieu leur avait donné un grand sujet de joie. Les femmes et les enfants se réjouirent aussi, et les cris de joie de Jérusalem furent entendus au loin.

And they sacrificed on that day great sacrifices, and they rejoiced: for God had made them joyful with great joy: their wives also and their children rejoiced, and the joy of Jerusalem was heard afar off.

44 En ce temps-là, on établit des hommes préposés aux chambres qui servaient de magasins pour les offrandes prélevées, les prémices et les dîmes, et on les chargea d’y recueillir, du territoire des villes, les portions assignées par la loi aux prêtres et aux lévites; car Juda se réjouissait de voir à leur poste les prêtres et les lévites,

They appointed also in that day men over the storehouses of the treasure, for the libations, and for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, that the rulers of the city might bring them in by them in honour of thanksgiving, for the priests and Levites: for Juda was joyful in the priests and Levites that assisted.

45 observant le service de leur Dieu, et le service des purifications; et de même, les chantres et les portiers, selon l’ordonnance de David et de Salomon, son fils.

And they kept the watch of their God, and the observance of expiation, and the singing men, and the porters, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.

46 Car autrefois, dans les jours de David et d’Asaph, le chef des chantres, il y avait des chants de louange et d’actions de grâces en l’honneur de Dieu.

For in the days of David and Asaph from the beginning there were chief singers appointed, to praise with canticles, and give thanks to God.

47 Tout Israël, dans les jours de Zorobabel et de Néhémie, donnait jour par jour les portions des chantres et des portiers; on donnait aux lévites les saintes offrandes, et les lévites en donnaient leur part aux fils d’Aaron.

And all Israel, in the days of Zorobabel, and in the days of Nehemias gave portions to the singing men, and to the porters, day by day, and they sanctified the Levites, and the Levites sanctified the sons of Aaron.
