Matthieu 13
1 Ce jour-là, Jésus sortit de la maison et s’assit au bord de la mer.
The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the shore of the lake;
2 Une grande foule s’étant assemblée autour de lui, il dut monter dans une barque, où il s’assit, tandis que la foule se tenait sur le rivage.
and great multitudes were gathered together to him, so that he went into a boat, and sat down; and all the multitude stood on the beach.
3 Et il leur dit beaucoup de choses en paraboles: — le semeur, dit-il, sortit pour semer.
And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow.
4 Et pendant qu’il semait, des grains tombèrent le long du chemin, et les oiseaux du ciel vinrent et les mangèrent.
And as he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
5 D’autres grains tombèrent sur un sol pierreux, où ils n’avaient pas beaucoup de terre, et ils levèrent aussitôt, parce que la terre était peu profonde.
And others fell upon rocky places, where they had not much earth; and they sprung up immediately, because they had no depth of earth.
6 Mais le soleil s’étant levé, la plante, frappée de ses feux et n’ayant pas de racine, sécha.
But when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7 D’autres tombèrent parmi les épines, et les épines crûrent et les étouffèrent.
And others fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up, and choked them.
8 D’autres tombèrent dans la bonne terre, et ils produisirent du fruit, l’un cent, un autre soixante, et un autre trente.
And others fell upon good ground; and yielded fruit, some a hundred fold, some Sixty, some thirty fold.
9 Que celui qui a des oreilles entende! »
He that hath ears, let him hear.
10 Alors ses disciples s’approchant lui dirent: « Pourquoi leur parles-tu en paraboles? »
And the disciples came and said to him, Why dost thou speak to them in parables?
11 Il leur répondit: « À vous, il a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume des cieux; mais à eux, cela n’a pas été donné.
He answered and said, Because to you it hath been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it hath not been given.
12 Car on donnera à celui qui a, et il sera dans l’abondance; mais à celui qui n’a pas, on ôtera même ce qu’il a.
For whoever hath, to him will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever hath not, from him will be taken away even what he hath.
13 C’est pourquoi je leur parle en paraboles, parce qu’en voyant, ils ne voient pas, et qu’en entendant, ils n’entendent ni ne comprennent.
Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, nor understand.
14 Pour eux s’accomplit la prophétie d’Isaïe: « Vous entendrez de vos oreilles et vous ne comprendrez pas; vous verrez de vos yeux, et vous ne verrez pas.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, “Ye will hear indeed, and not understand; and ye will see indeed, and not perceive.
15 Car le cœur de ce peuple s’est appesanti; ils ont endurci leurs oreilles et fermé leurs yeux: de peur que leurs yeux ne voient, que leurs oreilles n’entendent, que leur cœur ne comprenne, qu’ils ne se convertissent et que je ne les guérisse. »
For this people's heart hath become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn from their ways, and I should heal them.”
16 Pour vous, heureux vos yeux parce qu’ils voient, et vos oreilles parce qu’elles entendent!
But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.
17 Je vous le dis en vérité, beaucoup de prophètes et de justes ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l’ont pas vu; entendre ce que vous entendez, et ne l’ont pas entendu.
Truly do I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see, and did not see them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear them.
18 Vous donc, écoutez ce que signifie la parabole du semeur:
Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19 « Quiconque entend la parole du royaume et ne la comprend pas, le Malin vient, et il enlève ce qui a été semé dans son cœur: c’est le chemin qui a reçu la semence.
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, the Evil One cometh, and snatcheth away that which was sown in his heart; this man is what was sown by the wayside.
20 Le terrain pierreux où elle est tombée, c’est celui qui entend la parole et la reçoit aussitôt avec joie:
And what was sown on the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy,
21 mais il n’y a pas en lui de racines; il est inconstant; dès que survient la tribulation ou la persécution à cause de la parole, aussitôt il succombe.
but, having no root within him, endureth only for a time; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth on account of the word, he immediately falleth away.
22 Les épines qui ont reçu la semence, c’est celui qui entend la parole; mais les sollicitudes de ce siècle et la séduction des richesses étouffent la parole, et elle ne porte pas de fruit. (aiōn g165)
And what was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
23 La bonne terre ensemencée, c’est celui qui entend la parole et la comprend; il porte du fruit, et donne l’un cent, un autre soixante, un autre trente pour un. »
And what was sown on the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who also beareth fruit, and yieldeth, one a hundred fold, another sixty, another thirty fold.
24 Il leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: « Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un homme qui avait semé du bon grain dans son champ.
Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25 Mais, pendant que les hommes dormaient, son ennemi vint et sema de l’ivraie au milieu du froment, et s’en alla.
But while men slept, his enemy came, and sowed tares among the wheat; and went away.
26 Quand l’herbe eut poussé et donné son fruit, alors apparut aussi l’ivraie.
But when the blade grew up, and put forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 Et les serviteurs du père de famille vinrent lui dire: Seigneur, n’as-tu pas semé du bon grain dans ton champ? D’où vient donc qu’il s’y trouve de l’ivraie?
So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? Whence then hath it tares?
28 Il leur répondit: C’est un ennemi qui a fait cela. Les serviteurs lui dirent: Veux-tu que nous allions la cueillir?
He said to them, An enemy did this. The servants say to him, Dost thou wish then that we go and gather them up?
29 Non, leur dit-il, de peur qu’avec l’ivraie vous n’arrachiez aussi le froment.
But he said, Nay; lest, while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them.
30 Laissez croître l’un et l’autre jusqu’à la moisson, et au temps de la moisson je dirai aux moissonneurs: Cueillez d’abord l’ivraie, et liez-la en gerbes pour la brûler, et amassez le froment dans mon grenier. »
Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles, to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.
31 Il leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: « Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de sénevé, qu’un homme a pris et semé dans son champ.
Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard, which a man took and sowed in his field.
32 C’est la plus petite de toutes les semences; mais, lorsqu’il a poussé, il est plus grand que toutes les plantes potagères, et devient un arbre, de sorte que les oiseaux du ciel viennent s’abriter dans ses rameaux. »
Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.
33 Il leur dit encore cette parabole: « Le royaume des cieux est semblable au levain qu’une femme prend et mêle dans trois mesures de farine, pour faire lever toute la pâte. »
Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
34 Jésus dit à la foule toutes ces choses en paraboles, et il ne lui parlait qu’en paraboles,
All these things Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables, and without a parable he spoke nothing to them;
35 accomplissant ainsi la parole du prophète: « J’ouvrirai ma bouche en paraboles, et je révélerai des choses cachées depuis la création du monde. »
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet Isaiah, saying, “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation [[of the world]].”
36 Puis, ayant renvoyé le peuple, il revint dans la maison; ses disciples s’approchèrent et lui dirent: « Explique-nous la parabole de l’ivraie dans le champ. »
Then he sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.
37 Il répondit: « Celui qui sème le bon grain, c’est le Fils de l’homme;
He answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man.
38 le champ, c’est le monde; le bon grain, ce sont les fils du royaume; l’ivraie, les fils du Malin;
The field is the world; the good seed is the sons of the kingdom; but the tares are the sons of the Evil One;
39 l’ennemi qui l’a semé, c’est le diable; la moisson, la fin du monde; les moissonneurs, ce sont les anges. (aiōn g165)
the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. (aiōn g165)
40 Comme on cueille l’ivraie et qu’on la brûle dans le feu, ainsi en sera-t-il à la fin du monde. (aiōn g165)
As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the world. (aiōn g165)
41 Le Fils de Dieu enverra ses anges, et ils enlèveront de son royaume tous les scandales, et ceux qui commettent l’iniquité,
The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those who do iniquity,
42 et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente: c’est là qu’il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 Alors les justes resplendiront comme le soleil dans le royaume de leur Père. Que celui qui a des oreilles entende!
Then will the righteous shine forth as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.
44 « Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un trésor enfoui dans un champ; l’homme qui l’a trouvé l’y cache de nouveau, et, dans sa joie, il s’en va, vend tout ce qu’il a, et achète ce champ.
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hid in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy thereof he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45 « le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un marchand qui cherchait de belles perles.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking goodly pearls.
46 Ayant trouvé une perle de grand prix, il s’en alla vendre tout ce qu’il avait, et l’acheta.
And having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
47 « le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un filet qu’on a jeté dans la mer et qui ramasse des poissons de toutes sortes.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, cast into the sea, and bringing together fish of every kind;
48 Lorsqu’il est plein, les pêcheurs le retirent, et, s’asseyant sur le rivage, ils choisissent les bons pour les mettre dans des vases, et jettent les mauvais.
which, when it was full, they drew upon the beach, and sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.
49 Il en sera de même à la fin du monde: les anges viendront et sépareront les méchants d’avec les justes, (aiōn g165)
So will it be at the end of the world. The angels will come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous, (aiōn g165)
50 et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente: c’est là qu’il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
51 « Avez-vous compris toutes ces choses? » Ils lui dirent: « Oui, Seigneur. »
Did ye understand all these things? They say to him, Yea.
52 Et il ajouta: « C’est pourquoi tout scribe versé dans ce qui regarde le royaume des cieux, ressemble à un père de famille qui tire de son trésor des choses nouvelles et des choses anciennes. »
And he said to them, Thus then every scribe, instructed for the kingdom of heaven, is like a householder, who bringeth out from his storehouse things new and old.
53 Après que Jésus eut achevé ces paraboles, il partit de là.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these parables, that he departed thence.
54 Etant venu dans sa patrie, il enseignait dans la synagogue; de sorte que, saisis d’étonnement, ils disaient: « D’où viennent à celui-ci cette sagesse et ces miracles?
And having come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and the miracles?
55 N’est-ce pas le fils du charpentier? Sa mère ne s’appelle-t-elle pas Marie, et ses frères Jacques, Joseph, Simon et Jude?
Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
56 Et ses sœurs ne sont-elles pas toutes parmi nous? D’où lui viennent donc toutes ces choses? »
And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
57 Et il était pour eux une pierre d’achoppement. Mais Jésus leur dit: « Un prophète n’est sans honneur que dans sa patrie et dans sa maison. »
And they took offence at him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house.
58 Et il ne fit pas beaucoup de miracles dans ce lieu, à cause de leur incrédulité.
And he did not work many miracles there, because of their unbelief.
