Josué 21
1 Les chefs de famille des Lévites s’approchèrent du prêtre Eléazar, de Josué, fils de Nun, et des chefs de famille des tribus des enfants d’Israël;
Then came near the heads of the divisions of the Levites unto Elazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel;
2 ils leur parlèrent à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, en disant: « Yahweh a ordonné par Moïse qu’on nous donnât des villes pour notre habitation, et leurs banlieues pour notre bétail. »
And they spoke unto them at Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, saying, The Lord commanded by the hand of Moses to give unto us cities to dwell in, with the open spaces thereof for our cattle.
3 Les enfants d’Israël donnèrent aux Lévites, sur leur héritage, selon l’ordre de Yahweh, les villes suivantes et leurs banlieues.
And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites from their inheritance, at the order of the Lord, these cities and their open spaces.
4 Le sort fut tiré d’abord pour les familles des Caathites; et les fils du prêtre Aaron, d’entre les Lévites, obtinrent par le sort treize villes de la tribu de Juda, de la tribu de Siméon et de la tribu de Benjamin;
And the lot came out for the families of the Kehathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, obtained from the tribe of Judah, and from the tribe of Simeon, and from the tribe of Benjamin, by lot, thirteen cities.
5 les autres fils de Caath obtinrent par le sort dix villes des familles de la tribu d’Ephraïm, de la tribu de Dan et de la demi-tribu de Manassé.
And the rest of the children of Kehath obtained from the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and from the tribe of Dan, and from the half tribe of Menasseh, by lot, ten cities.
6 Les fils de Gerson obtinrent par le sort treize villes des familles de la tribu d’Issachar, de la tribu d’Aser, de la tribu de Nephthali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Basan.
And the children of Gershon obtained from the families of the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half tribe of Menasseh in Bashan, by lot, thirteen cities.
7 Les fils de Mérari, selon leurs familles, obtinrent douze villes de la tribu de Ruben, de la tribu de Gad et de la tribu de Zabulon.
The children of Merari after their families obtained from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8 Les enfants d’Israël donnèrent par le sort aux Lévites, ces villes et leurs banlieues, comme Yahweh l’avait ordonné par Moïse.
And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites these cities with their open spaces, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, by lot.
9 Ils donnèrent de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon les villes suivantes désignées par leurs noms;
And they gave from the tribe of the children of Judah, and from the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are called by name.
10 ce fut pour les fils d’Aaron, d’entre les familles des Caathites, d’entre les fils de Lévi, car le sort fut d’abord tiré pour eux.
And the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kehathites, of the children of Levi, obtained them; —for they had the first lot.
11 Ils leurs donnèrent, dans la montagne de Juda, la ville d’Arbé, père d’Enac, laquelle est Hébron, et sa banlieue tout autour.
And they gave unto them Kiryath-arba', [the father of 'Anak, ] which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah, with the open spaces thereof round about it;
12 Mais la campagne de cette ville et ses villages, ils les donnèrent en possession à Caleb, fils de Jéphoné.
But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Yephunneh for his possession.
13 Ils donnèrent aux fils du prêtre Aaron la ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, Hébron et sa banlieue, ainsi que Lebna avec sa banlieue,
And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave the city of refuge for the manslayer, Hebron with its open spaces, and Libnah with its open spaces,
14 Jéther et sa banlieue, Estémo et sa banlieue,
And Yattir with its open spaces, and Eshtemoa' with its open spaces.
15 Holon et sa banlieue, Dabir et sa banlieue,
And Cholon with its open spaces, and Debir with its open spaces,
16 Aïn et sa banlieue, Jéta et sa banlieue, Bethsamès et sa banlieue: neuf villes de ces deux tribus.
And 'Ayin with its open spaces, and Yuttah with its open spaces, and Beth-shemesh with its open spaces: nine cities from those two tribes.
17 De la tribu de Benjamin: Gabaon et sa banlieue, Gabaa et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Benjamin, Gib'on with its open spaces, Geba' with its open spaces,
18 Anathoth et sa banlieue, Almon et sa banlieue: quatre villes.
'Anathoth with its open spaces, and 'Almon with its open spaces: four cities.
19 Total des villes des prêtres, fils d’Aaron: treize villes et leurs banlieues.
All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their open spaces.
20 Quant aux familles des fils de Caath, Lévites, aux autres fils de Caath, les villes qui leur échurent par le sort furent de la tribu d’Ephraïm.
And the families of the children of Kehath, the Levites, who remained of the children of Kehath, obtained the cities of their lot from the tribe of Ephraim.
21 Les enfants d’Israël leur donnèrent la ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, Sichem et sa banlieue, dans la montagne d’Ephraïm, ainsi que Gazer et sa banlieue,
And they gave to them the city of refuge for the manslayer, Shechem with its open spaces in the mountain of Ephraim, and Gezer with its open spaces,
22 Cibsaïm et sa banlieue, Beth-Horon et sa banlieue: quatre villes.
And Kibzayim with its open spaces, and Beth-choron with its open spaces: four cities.
23 De la tribu de Dan: Elthéco et sa banlieue, Gabathon et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its open spaces, Gibbethon with its open spaces,
24 Ajalon et sa banlieue, Geth-Remmon et sa banlieue: quatre villes.
Ayalon with its open spaces, Gath-rimmon with its open spaces: four cities.
25 De la demi-tribu de Manassé: Thanach et sa banlieue, et Geth-Remmon et sa banlieue: deux villes.
And from the half tribe of Menasseh, Ta'nach with its open spaces, and Gath-rimmon with its open spaces: two cities.
26 Total: dix villes avec leurs banlieues, pour les familles des autres fils de Caath.
All the cities were ten with their open spaces for the families of the children of Kehath that remained.
27 Aux fils de Gerson, d’entre les familles des Lévites, ils donnèrent, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, la ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, Gaulon, en Basan, et sa banlieue, ainsi que Bosra et sa banlieue: deux villes.
And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, [they gave] from the other half tribe of Menasseh the city of refuge for the manslayer, Golan in Bashan with its open spaces, and Be'eshterah with its open spaces: two cities.
28 De la tribu d’Issachar: Césion et sa banlieue, Dabéreth et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Issachar, Kishyon with its open spaces, Daberath with its open spaces,
29 Jaramoth et sa banlieue, En-Gannim et sa banlieue: quatre villes.
Yarmuth with its open spaces, 'En-gannim with its open spaces: four cities.
30 De la tribu d’Aser: Masal et sa banlieue, Abdon et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its open spaces, Abdon with its open spaces.
31 Helcath et sa banlieue, Rohob et sa banlieue: quatre villes.
Chelkath with its open spaces, and Rechob with its open spaces: four cities.
32 De la tribu de Nephthali: la ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, Cédès en Galilée et sa banlieue, ainsi que Hamoth-Dor et sa banlieue, Carthan et sa banlieue: trois villes.
And from the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Kedesh in Galilee with its open spaces, and Chammothdor with its open spaces, and Karthan with its open spaces: three cities.
33 Total des villes des Gersonites, selon leurs familles: treize villes et leurs banlieues.
All the cities of the Gershunites according to their families were thirteen cities with their open spaces.
34 Aux familles des fils de Mérari, au reste des Lévites, ils donnèrent, de la tribu de Zabulon: Jecnam et sa banlieue, Cartha et sa banlieue,
And unto the families of the children of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, [they gave] from the tribe of Zebulun, Yokne'am with its open spaces, and Karthah with its open spaces,
35 Damna et sa banlieue, Naalol et sa banlieue: quatre villes.
Dimnah with its open spaces, Nahalal with its open spaces: four cities.
36 Et de la tribu de Gad: la ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, Ramoth en Galaad et sa banlieue, ainsi que Manaïm et sa banlieue,
37 Hésebon et sa banlieue, Jaser et sa banlieue: en tout quatre villes.
And from the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Ramoth in Gil'ad with its open spaces, and Machanayim with its open spaces,
Cheshbon with its open spaces, Ya'zer with its open spaces: four cities in all.
40 Total des villes assignées par le sort aux fils de Mérari, selon leurs familles, formant le reste des familles des Lévites: douze villes.
All the cities for the children of Merari after their families, they who were remaining of the families of the Levites, even their lot was twelve cities.
41 Total des villes des Lévites au milieu des possessions des enfants d’Israël: quarante-huit villes et leurs banlieues.
All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their open spaces.
42 Chacune de ces villes avait sa banlieue tout autour; il en était ainsi pour toutes ces villes.
These cities were every one with their open spaces round about them: thus it was with all these cities.
43 C’est ainsi que Yahweh donna à Israël tout le pays qu’il avait juré de donner à leurs pères; ils en prirent possession et s’y établirent.
And the Lord gave unto Israel all the land which he had sworn to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
44 Yahweh leur accorda du repos tout autour d’eux, comme il l’avait juré à leurs pères; aucun de leurs ennemis ne put leur résister, et Yahweh les livra tous entre leurs mains.
And the Lord gave them rest round about, all just as he had sworn unto their fathers: and there stood not up before them a man of all their enemies; all their enemies the Lord delivered into their hand.
45 De toutes les bonnes paroles que Yahweh avait dites à la maison d’Israël, aucune ne resta sans effet; toutes s’accomplirent.
There failed not aught of all the good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel: it all came to pass.
