Josué 15
1 La part échue par le sort à la tribu des enfants de Juda, selon leurs familles, s’étendait vers la frontière d’Edom, jusqu’au désert de Sin vers le midi, à l’extrémité méridionale de Canaan.
And so, the lot of the sons of Judah, by their families, was this: from the border of Edom, to the desert of Sin toward the south, and even to the furthest part of the southern region.
2 Leur frontière du midi partait de l’extrémité de la mer Salée, de la langue tournée vers le sud;
Its beginning was from the summit of the very salty sea, and from its bay, which looks toward the south.
3 elle se prolongeait au midi de la montée d’Akrabbim, passait à Sin et montait au midi de Cadès-Barné; de là, elle passait à Esron, montait vers Addar et tournait à Carcaa;
And it extends toward the ascent of the Scorpion, and it passes on to Sinai. And it ascends into Kadesh-barnea, and it passes through to Hezron, ascending to Addar, and encompassing Karka.
4 elle passait ensuite à Asmon et continuait jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte; et la frontière aboutissait à la mer. « Ce sera votre frontière au midi. »
And from there, it passes on to Azmon, and reaches to the torrent of Egypt. And its boundary shall be the great sea; this shall be the limit of the southern region.
5 La frontière orientale fut la mer Salée jusqu’à l’embouchure du Jourdain. La frontière septentrionale partait de la langue de la mer Salée qui est à l’embouchure du Jourdain.
Yet truly, toward the east, the beginning shall be the very salty sea, even to the limit of the Jordan, and that which looks toward the north, from the bay of the sea, even to the same river Jordan.
6 La frontière montait vers Beth-Agla, passait au nord de Beth-Araba, et la frontière montait jusqu’à la pierre de Boën, fils de Ruben;
And the border ascends into Beth-hoglah, and it crosses from the north into Beth-Arabah, ascending to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben.
7 et la frontière montait à Débéra à partir de la vallée d’Achor, et tournait vers le nord du côté de Galgala, qui est vis-à-vis de la montagne d’Adommim, au sud du torrent. Et la frontière passait près des eaux d’En-Sémès et aboutissait à En-Rogel.
And it reaches as far as the borders of Debara, from the Valley of Achor, to the north, looking toward Gilgal, which is opposite the Ascent of Adummim, on the southern part of the torrent. And it crosses the waters that are called the Fountain of the Sun. And its exit shall be at the Fountain of Rogel.
8 Et la frontière montait par la vallée de Ben-Ennom, jusqu’au versant méridional de la montagne des Jébuséens, qui est Jérusalem; et la frontière s’élevait ensuite jusqu’au sommet de la montagne qui est vis-à-vis de la vallée d’Ennom à l’occident, et à l’extrémité de la plaine des Rephaïm au nord.
And it ascends by the steep valley of the son of Hinnom, from the side of the Jebusite, toward the south; this is Jerusalem. And from there, it raises itself to the top of the mountain, which is opposite Geennom to the west, at the top of the Valley of the Rephaim, to the north.
9 Du sommet de la montagne, la frontière s’étendait jusqu’à la source des eaux de Nephtoa, aboutissait vers les villes de la montagne d’Ephron; et la frontière s’étendait vers Baala, qui est Cariath-Jéarim.
And it passes through, from the top of the mountain, even to the fountain of the Water of Nephtoah. And it continues on, as far as the villages of mount Ephron. And it inclines toward Baalah, which is Kiriath-jearim, that is, the City of Forests.
10 De Baala, la frontière tournait à l’occident vers le mont Séïr, passait par le versant septentrional du mont Jarim, qui est Cheslon, descendait à Bethsamès et passait par Thamma.
And it circles from Baalah, to the west, as far as mount Seir. And it passes by the side of mount Jearim, to the north, into Chesalon. And it descends into Beth-shemesh, and it passes through to Timnah.
11 La frontière aboutissait au versant septentrional d’Accaron; et la frontière s’étendait vers Sécrona, passait par le mont Baala, et aboutissait à Jebnéel; et la frontière aboutissait à la mer.
And it continues on, toward the north, to a region beside Ekron. And it inclines toward Shikkeron, and it crosses to mount Baalah. And it extends into Jabneel, and the last part closes at the west with the great sea.
12 La limite occidentale était la Grande mer et son territoire. Telles furent de tous côtés les frontières des fils de Juda, selon leurs familles.
These are the borders of the sons of Judah, in their families, on all sides.
13 On avait donné à Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, une part au milieu des fils de Juda, comme Yahweh l’avait ordonné à Josué, savoir la ville d’Arbé, père d’Enac: c’est Hébron,
Yet truly, to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, he gave a portion in the midst of the sons of Judah, just as the Lord had instructed him: the City of Arba, the father of Anak, which is Hebron.
14 Caleb en chassa les trois fils d’Enac, Sésaï, Ahiman et Tholmaï, descendants d’Enac.
And Caleb destroyed from it the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, of the stock of Anak.
15 De là il monta contre les habitants de Dabir, qui s’appelait autrefois Cariath-Sépher.
And ascending further from there, he came to the inhabitants of Debir, which before was called Kiriath-Sepher, that is, the City of Letters.
16 Caleb dit: « A celui qui battra Cariath-Sépher et qui la prendra, je donnerai pour femme ma fille Axa. »
And Caleb said, “Whoever will have struck down Kiriath-Sepher, and will have seized it, I will give to him Achsah, my daughter, as wife.”
17 Othoniel, fils de Cénez, frère de Caleb, s’en empara, et Caleb lui donna sa fille Axa pour femme.
And Othniel, the son of Kenaz, the younger brother of Caleb, seized it. And he gave him Achsah, his daughter, as wife.
18 Lorsqu’elle alla chez Othoniel, elle l’excita à demander à son père un champ. Elle descendit de dessus son âne, et Caleb lui dit: « Qu’as-tu? »
And as they were traveling together, she was urged by her husband that she ask her father for a field. And she sighed, as she was sitting on her donkey. And Caleb said to her, “What is it?”
19 Elle répondit: « Fais-moi un présent, car tu m’as établie dans le pays sec; donne-moi aussi des sources d’eau. » Et il lui donna les sources supérieures et les sources inférieures.
But she answered: “Give a blessing to me. You have given to me a southern and dry land; join to it also a watered land.” And so Caleb gave to her the watered land above and below it.
20 Tel fut l’héritage de la tribu des fils de Juda, selon leurs familles.
This is the possession of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their families.
21 Les villes situées à l’extrémité de la tribu des enfants de Juda, vers la frontière d’Edom, dans le Négeb, étaient: Cabséel, Eder, Jagur,
And the cities, from the furthest parts of the sons of Judah, beside the borders of Edom to the south, were: Kabzeel and Eder and Jagur,
22 Cina, Dimona, Adada,
and Kinah and Dimonah and Adadah,
23 Cadès, Asor et Jethnam;
and Kadesh and Hazor and Ithnan,
24 Ziph, Télem, Baloth,
Ziph and Telem and Bealoth,
25 Asor-la-Neuve et Carioth-Hesron, qui est Asor;
new Hazor and Kerioth-Hezron, which is Hazor,
26 Amam, Sama, Molada,
Amam, Shema, and Moladah,
27 Asergadda, Hassemon, Bethphélet,
and Hazar-gaddah and Heshmon and Bethpelet,
28 Hasersual, Bersabée et Baziothia;
and Hazar-shual and Beersheba and Biziothiah,
29 Baala, Jim, Esem,
and Baalah and Iim and Ezem,
30 Eltholad, Césil, Harma,
and Eltolad and Chesil and Hormah,
31 Siceleg, Médémena, Sensenna,
and Ziklag and Madmannah and Sansannah,
32 Lebaoth, Sélim, Aen et Rémon: en tout vingt neuf villes et leurs villages.
Lebaoth and Shilhim, and Ain and Rimmon. All the cities were twenty-nine, and their villages.
33 Dans la Séphéla: Estaol, Saréa, Asena,
Truly, in the plains, there were: Eshtaol and Zorah and Ashnah,
34 Zanoé, Aen-Gannim, Taphua, Enaïm,
and Zanoah and Engannim, and Tappuah and Enam,
35 Jérimoth, Odollam, Socho, Azéca,
and Jarmuth and Adullam, Socoh and Azekah,
36 Saraïm, Adithaïm, Gédéra et Gédérothaïm: quatorze villes et leurs villages.
and Shaaraim and Adithaim, and Gederah and Gederothaim: fourteen cities, and their villages.
37 Sanan, Hadassa, Magdal-Gad,
Zenan and Hadashah and Middalgad,
38 Déléan, Masépha, Jecthel,
Dilean and Mizpeh and Joktheel,
39 Lachis, Bascath, Eglon,
Lachish and Bozkath and Eglon,
40 Chebbon, Léhéman, Cethlis,
Cabbon and Lahmam and Chitlish,
41 Gideroth, Beth-Dagon, Naama et Macéda: seize ville et leurs villages.
and Gederoth and Bethdagon, and Naamah and Makkedah: sixteen cities, and their villages.
42 Labana, Ether, Asan,
Libnah and Ether and Ashan,
43 Jephtha, Esna, Nésib,
Iphtah and Ashnah and Nezib,
44 Céïla, Achzib et Marésa: neuf villes et leurs villages.
and Keilah and Achzib and Mareshah: nine cities, and their villages.
45 Accaron, avec les villes de sa dépendance et ses villages.
Ekron, with its towns and villages:
46 A partir d’Accaron, du côté de l’occident, toutes les villes près d’Azoth et leurs villages;
from Ekron, as far as the sea, all that inclines toward Ashdod, and its villages.
47 Azoth, les villes de sa dépendance et ses villages; Gaza, les villes de sa dépendance et ses villages, jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte et à la Grande mer, qui est la limite.
Ashdod, with its towns and villages. Gaza, with its towns and villages, as far as the torrent of Egypt, with the great sea as its border.
48 Dans la montagne: Samir, Jéther, Socoth,
And on the mountain, Shamir and Jattir and Socoh,
49 Danna, Cariath-Senna, qui est Dabir,
and Dannah, and Kiriath-Sannah, which is Debir,
50 Anab, Istémo, Anim,
Anab and Eshtemoh and Anim,
51 Gosen, Olon et Gilo: onze villes et leurs villages.
Goshen and Holon and Giloh: eleven cities, and their villages.
52 Arab, Duma, Esaan,
Arab and Dumah and Eshan,
53 Janum, Beth-Thaphua, Aphéca,
and Janim and Beth-Tappuah and Aphekah,
54 Athmatha, Cariath-Arbé, qui est Hébron, et Sior: neuf villes et leurs villages.
Humtah and Kiriath-Arba, which is Hebron, and Zior: nine cities, and their villages.
55 Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Jota,
Maon and Carmel, and Ziph and Juttah,
56 Jezraël, Jucadam, Zanoé,
Jezreel and Jokdeam and Zanoah,
57 Accaïn, Gabaa, Thamma: dix villes et leurs villages.
Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah: ten cities, and their villages.
58 Halhul, Bessur, Gédor,
Halhul and Bethzur and Gedor,
59 Mareth, Beth-Anoth et Eltécon: six villes, et leurs villages.
Maarath and Bethanoth and Eltekon: six cities, and their villages.
60 Cariath-Baal, qui est Cariath-Jéarim, et Arebba: deux villes et leurs villages.
Kiriath-baal, which is Kiriath-jearim, the City of Forests, and Rabbah: two cities, and their villages.
61 Dans le désert: Beth-Araba, Meddin, Sachacha,
In the desert: Beth-Arabah, Middin, and Secacah,
62 Nebsan, Ir-Hammélach et En-Gaddi: six villes et leurs villages.
and Nibshan, and the City of Salt, and Engedi: six cities, and their villages.
63 Les fils de Juda ne purent pas chasser les Jébuséens qui habitent à Jérusalem, et les Jébuséens ont habité à Jérusalem avec les fils de Juda jusqu’à ce jour.
But the sons of Judah were not able to destroy the Jebusite inhabitants of Jerusalem. And so the Jebusite lived with the sons of Judah in Jerusalem, even to the present day.
