Joël 3
1 Car voici qu’en ces jours-là et en ce temps-là, où je ramènerai les captifs de Juda et de Jérusalem,
For, in those days and in that time, when I bring back again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 j’assemblerai toutes les nations, et je les ferai descendre dans la vallée de Josaphat; et là j’entrerai en jugement avec elles, au sujet de mon peuple et de mon héritage d’Israël, qu’elles ont dispersé parmi les nations, et de mon pays qu’elles ont partagé.
I will also gather all the nations and bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there I will enter into judgment with them for my people and my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and divided my land.
3 Car ils ont jeté le sort sur mon peuple, ils ont donné le jeune garçon pour une courtisane, et ils ont vendu la jeune fille pour du vin, et ils ont bu.
They have cast lots for my people. They have traded boys for prostitutes, and sold girls for wine, and drunk it.
4 Et vous aussi, qu’êtes-vous pour moi, Tyr et Sidon, et tous les districts de Philistie? Est-ce que vous tireriez de moi une vengeance? Que si vous me provoquez, je ferai vite, promptement retomber votre provocation sur votre tête;
What are you to me, Tyre and Sidon and all the districts of Philistia? Were you repaying any deed of mine, or were you doing something for me? Quickly will I return your deed upon your heads.
5 vous qui avez pris mon argent et mon or, et qui avez emporté dans vos temples mes joyaux les plus précieux;
You who have taken my silver and my gold, and you have brought my goodly jewels into your palaces,
6 vous qui avez vendu aux fils de Javan, les fils de Juda et les fils de Jérusalem, pour qu’on les éloigne de leur pays!
you have sold the people of Judah and of Jerusalem to the Greeks, so that you might remove them far from their own borders.
7 Voici que je vais les faire lever du lieu où vous les avez vendus, et je ferai retomber votre provocation sur votre tête.
I am about to stir them up from the place to which you have sold them, and I will turn your deeds upon your own head.
8 Je vendrai vos fils et vos filles aux mains des enfants de Juda, qui les vendront aux Sabéens, à un peuple lointain; car Yahweh a parlé.
I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a nation far off, for the Lord has spoken.
9 Publiez ceci parmi les nations: Préparez la guerre! Faites lever les vaillants! Qu’ils s’approchent, qu’ils montent, tous les hommes de guerre!
Proclaim this among the nations, sanctify war. Arouse the warriors, let all the fighting men muster and go up.
10 De vos socs forgez des épées, et de vos serpes des lances; que le faible dise: « Je suis un brave! »
Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your pruning-hooks into lances; let the weak say, I, indeed, am strong.
11 Hâtez-vous et venez, vous toutes, nations d’alentour, et rassemblez-vous! Là même, Yahweh, faites descendre vos braves!
Bestir yourselves and come, all you nations round about. Quickly gather yourselves together, ask the Lord to bring his warriors.
12 Que les nations se lèvent et qu’elles montent à la vallée de Josaphat! Car c’est là que je siégerai pour juger toutes les nations d’alentour.
Let the nations rouse themselves and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there will I sit to judge all the surrounding nations.
13 Mettez la faucille, car la moisson est mûre; venez, foulez, car le pressoir est rempli; les cuves regorgent, car leur méchanceté est grande.
Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe; go in, tread, for the wine press is full. The vats overflow, for great is their wickedness.
14 Des foules, des foules dans la vallée de la décision!
Noisy multitudes, noisy multitudes in the valley of decision. For near is the Lord’s day in the valley of decision!
15 Le soleil et la lune se sont obscurcis, et les étoiles ont perdu leur éclat.
Sun and moon have turned dark, and the stars withdrawn their shining.
16 De Sion Yahweh rugira, de Jérusalem il fera entendre sa voix; les cieux et la terre trembleront. Mais Yahweh sera un refuge pour son peuple, une retraite pour les enfants d’Israël.
Whenever the Lord roars from Zion and utters his voice from Jerusalem, earth and sky quake; but the Lord is a refuge to his people, and a fortress to the people of Israel.
17 Et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu, qui habite Sion, ma montagne sainte; Jérusalem sera un sanctuaire, et les étrangers n’y passeront plus.
And you will know that I am the Lord your God, I who dwells in Zion, my holy mountain, and Jerusalem will be holy, and strangers will not pass through her any more.
18 En ce jour-là, les montagnes dégoutteront de vin nouveau, les collines ruisselleront de lait, et tous les torrents de Juda ruisselleront d’eau. Une source sortira de la maison de Yahweh, et elle arrosera la vallée des Acacias.
In that day, the mountains will drop sweet wine, the hills will flow with milk, all the channels of Judah will flow with water, a fountain will spring from the house of Judah, and will water the Valley of Shittim.
19 L’Égypte deviendra une terre dévastée, Edom un désert de dévastation, à cause des violences commises contre les enfants de Juda, parce qu’ils ont répandu dans leur pays le sang innocent.
Egypt will become a desolation, and Edom a wilderness, because of the violence done to the people of Judah, because they shed innocent blood in their land,
20 Mais Juda sera habité éternellement, et Jérusalem d’âge en âge.
Judah will remain inhabited forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21 Et je laverai leur sang que je n’avais pas encore lavé. Et Yahweh habitera en Sion.
I will avenge their blood which I have not yet avenged. The Lord lives in Zion!
