Jérémie 43
1 Et lorsque Jérémie eut achevé de dire à tout le peuple toutes les paroles de Yahweh, leur Dieu, toutes ces paroles que Yahweh, leur Dieu, l’avait envoyé leur communiquer,
After Jeremiah finished telling everyone all that the Lord their God had send him to say,
2 Azarias, fils d’Osaïas, Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les hommes orgueilleux dirent à Jérémie: « Tu dis un mensonge; Yahweh, notre Dieu, ne t’a pas envoyé pour nous dire: N’entrez pas en Égypte pour y habiter.
Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the proud and rebellious men told Jeremiah, “You're lying! The Lord our God hasn't sent you to tell us, ‘You are not to go and live in Egypt.’
3 Mais c’est Baruch, fils de Nérias, qui t’excite contre nous, afin de nous livrer aux mains des Chaldéens, pour nous faire mourir et pour nous faire transporter à Babylone. »
No, it's Baruch son of Neriah who's turned you against us in order to hand us over to the Babylonians so they can kill us or exile us to Babylon!”
4 Ainsi Johanan, fils de Carée, tous les chefs de troupes et tout le peuple n’écoutèrent pas la voix de Yahweh qui leur ordonnait de demeurer au pays de Juda.
So Johanan son of Kareah and all the army commanders refused to obey the Lord's command to stay in the land of Judah.
5 Mais Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les chefs des troupes prirent tout le reste de Juda, ceux qui étaient revenus de toutes les nations où ils avaient été dispersés, pour habiter le pays de Juda,
Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and all the army commanders took with them all who were left of the people of Judah, those who had returned to the country from all the nations where they had been scattered.
6 hommes, femmes et enfants, les filles du roi et toutes les personnes que Nabuzardan, chef des gardes, avait laissées avec Godolias, fils d’Ahicam, fils de Saphan, ainsi que Jérémie, le prophète, et Baruch, fils de Nérias.
These included men, women, and children, the king's daughters, and everyone Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard had allowed to remain with Gedaliah, as well as Jeremiah and Baruch.
7 Ils entrèrent au pays d’Égypte, car ils n’écoutèrent pas la voix de Yahweh; et ils vinrent jusqu’à Taphnès.
They went to Egypt because they refused to obey the Lord's command. They went all the way to Tahpanhes.
8 Et la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie, à Taphnès, en ces termes:
A message from Lord came to Jeremiah at Tahpanhes:
9 Prends dans ta main de grosses pierres et cache-les, en présence des hommes de Juda, dans le ciment de la plate-forme en briques qui est à l’entrée de la maison de Pharaon à Taphnès,
As the people of Judah watch, get some large stones and set them into the cement of the brick pavement in the entrance way to Pharaoh's palace at Tahpanhes.
10 et dis-leur: Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d’Israël: Voici que je vais envoyer prendre Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur, et je placerai son trône sur ces pierres que j’ai cachées; il étendra son tapis sur elles.
Tell them that this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I'm going to send for my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bring him here. I will place his throne over these stones that I have set into the pavement, and he will spread out his royal tent over them.
11 Il viendra et frappera le pays d’Égypte: qui est pour la mort, à la mort! qui est pour la captivité, en captivité! qui est pour l’épée, à l’épée.
He will come and attack Egypt, bringing death to those destined to die, imprisonment to those destined to be imprisoned, and the sword to those destined to be killed by the sword.
12 Et je mettrai le feu aux maisons des dieux d’Égypte; il les brûlera et emmènera les dieux captifs; il s’enveloppera du pays d’Égypte, comme un berger s’enveloppe de son vêtement, et il en sortira paisiblement.
I will set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt. Nebuchadnezzar will burn them and loot their idols. He will pick the land of Egypt clean like a shepherd picks his cloak clean of fleas, and he will leave unharmed.
13 Il brisera les stèles de la maison du Soleil qui est dans le pays d’Égypte, et il brûlera les maisons des dieux d’Égypte!
He will knock down the sacred pillars of the temple of the sun in Egypt, and he will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.
