Jérémie 32

1 La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de Yahweh, la dixième année de Sédécias, roi de Juda. C’était la dix-huitième année de Nabuchodonosor.

The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah in the tenth year of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.

2 Alors l’armée du roi de Babylone assiégeait Jérusalem, et Jérémie le prophète était enfermé dans la cour de garde qui était dans la maison du roi de Juda.

And at that time the army of the king of Babylon was laying siege to Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the house of the king of Judah.

3 Car Sédécias, roi de Juda, l’avait fait enfermer, en lui disant: « Pourquoi prophétises-tu en ces termes: Ainsi parle Yahweh: Voici que je livre cette ville aux mains du roi de Babylone, et il la prendra;

For Zedekiah, the king of Judah, had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, “Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am about to give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

4 et Sédécias, roi de Juda n’échappera pas aux mains des Chaldéens; il sera certainement livré aux mains du roi de Babylone, et il lui parlera bouche à bouche, et ses yeux verront ses yeux.

and Zedekiah, the king of Judah, shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldaeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

5 Et Nabuchodonosor emmènera Sédécias à Babylone, et il y restera jusqu’à ce que je le visite, — oracle de Yahweh. Si vous combattez contre les Chaldéens, vous ne réussirez point. »

and he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith Jehovah; though ye fight with the Chaldaeans, ye shall not prosper?”

6 Et Jérémie dit: La parole de Yahweh m’a été adressée en ces termes:

Then said Jeremiah, The word of Jehovah came to me, and said:

7 Voici Hanaméel, fils de Sellum, ton oncle, qui vient vers toi pour te dire: « Achète-toi mon champ qui est à Anathoth, car tu as le droit de rachat pour l’acheter. »

Behold, Hanameel, the son of Shallum, thine uncle, will come to thee, and say, Buy thee my field which is in Anathoth, for thine is the redemption-right to buy it.

8 Et Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, vint vers moi selon la parole de Yahweh, dans la cour de garde, et il me dit: « Achète donc mon champ qui est à Anathoth, dans le pays de Benjamin, car tu as le droit d’héritage et le droit de rachat; achète-le donc! » Alors je connus que c’était là une parole de Yahweh.

And so Hanameel, the son of my uncle, came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of Jehovah, and said to me: Buy, I pray thee, my field, which is in Anathoth, for thine is the right of inheritance and redemption; buy it for thyself! Then I knew that this was the word of Jehovah.

9 Et j’achetai de Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, le champ qui est à Anathoth, et je lui pesais l’argent, dix-sept sicles d’argent.

I bought, therefore, the field of Hanameel, my uncle's son, in Anathoth, and I paid him the money, seventeen shekels of silver.

10 Puis je passai l’acte et je le scellai; je pris des témoins et je pesai l’argent dans la balance.

And I wrote a deed, and sealed it, and took witnesses thereto, and weighed the silver in the balances.

11 Ensuite je pris l’acte d’acquisition, celui qui était scellé, renfermant les stipulations et les clauses, et celui qui était ouvert.

And I took the purchase-deed, that which was sealed according to the law and the statutes, and that which was open,

12 Et je remis l’acte d’acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, fils de Maasias, en présence de Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, et en présence des témoins qui avaient signé l’acte d’acquisition, et en présence de tous les Juifs qui étaient assis dans la cour de garde.

and I gave the purchase-deed to Baruch, the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the presence of Hanameel, my uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses, who subscribed their names to the purchase-deed, and in the presence of all the Jews who sat in the court of the prison.

13 Et je donnai devant eux cet ordre à Baruch:

And I charged Baruch in their presence, saying,

14 Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d’Israël: Prends ces actes, cet acte d’acquisition qui est scellé, et cet acte qui est ouvert, et mets-les dans un vase de terre pour qu’ils se conservent longtemps.

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these writings, this sealed purchase-deed, and this open deed, and put them into an earthen vessel, that they may endure a great length of time.

15 Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d’Israël: On achètera encore des maisons, des champs et des vignes en ce pays.

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Yet again shall houses and fields and vineyards be bought in this land.

16 Après que j’eus remis l’acte d’acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, j’adressai cette prière à Yahweh:

And when I had delivered the purchase-deed to Baruch, the son of Neriah, I prayed to Jehovah, saying,

17 Ah! Seigneur Yahweh, c’est toi qui as fait le ciel et la terre par ta grande puissance et ton bras étendu; rien ne te sera impossible.

Ah, Lord, Jehovah! Behold, thou hast made the heavens and the earth by thy great power and thy stretched-out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.

18 C’est toi qui fais miséricorde à des milliers, et qui paies le salaire de l’iniquité des pères dans le sein de leurs enfants, après eux; Dieu grand et fort, dont le nom est Yahweh des armées;

Thou showest kindness to a thousand generations, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of the children who come after them. The great, the mighty God, Jehovah of hosts is his name,

19 grand en conseil et puissant en action, dont les yeux sont ouverts sur toutes les voies des enfants d’Adam, pour rendre à chacun selon ses voies, et selon le fruit de ses œuvres.

great in counsel and mighty in work; for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men, to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings;

20 C’est toi qui as fait des signes et des prodiges dans le pays d’Égypte, et jusqu’à ce jour, en Israël et parmi les hommes, et qui t’es fait un nom tel que nous le voyons aujourd’hui;

who hast displayed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt even to this day, and in Israel, and among other men, and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

21 c’est toi qui as tiré Israël, ton peuple, du pays d’Égypte, avec des signes et des prodiges, par ta main puissante et ton bras étendu, et en répandant une grande terreur;

and hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched-out arm, and with great terror,

22 et tu leur as donné ce pays, que tu avais juré à leurs pères de leur donner, un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.

and hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

23 Ils y sont entrés, ils en ont pris possession; mais ils n’ont pas écouté ta voix, ils n’ont pas marché dans ta loi; et tout ce que tu leur avais commandé de faire, ils ne l’ont pas fait; et tu as amené sur eux tous ces malheurs.

and they have come in and possessed it; but they have not obeyed thy voice, nor walked according to thy law. They have done nothing of all which thou commandedst them to do. Therefore hast thou caused all this evil to come upon them.

24 Voici que des terrasses atteignent la ville, pour la prendre; et la ville va être livrée aux mains des Chaldéens qui l’attaquent, par l’épée, la famine et la peste; ce que tu as dit arrive, et tu le vois.

Behold, the mounds of the enemy have already come up against the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldaeans, who fight against it by means of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence; and what thou hast spoken is come to pass, and, behold, thou seest it.

25 Et toi, Seigneur Yahweh, tu m’as dit: « Achète-toi ce champ à prix d’argent, et prends des témoins «; et la ville est livrée aux mains des Chaldéens!...

And yet hast thou said to me, O Lord Jehovah, “Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses thereto!” when the city is given into the hand of the Chaldaeans.

26 La parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes:

Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah, saying:

27 Je suis Yahweh, le Dieu de toute chair; y aurait-il une chose impossible pour moi?

Behold, I, Jehovah, am the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?

28 C’est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh: Voici que je vais livrer cette ville aux mains des Chaldéens et aux mains de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, et il la prendra.

Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldaeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and he shall take it.

29 Les Chaldéens qui attaquent cette ville y entreront; ils mettront le feu à cette ville, et ils la brûleront, ainsi que les maisons sur les toits desquelles on a offert de l’encens à Baal, et fait des libations à d’autres dieux, afin de m’irriter.

And the Chaldaeans who fight against this city shall come and set this city on fire, and burn it, with the houses upon whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal, and poured out incense to other gods, to provoke me to anger.

30 Car les enfants d’Israël et les enfants de Juda, n’ont fait dès leur jeunesse que ce qui est mal à mes yeux; et les enfants d’Israël n’ont fait que m’irriter par l’œuvre de leurs mains, — oracle de Yahweh.

For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done nothing but evil before me from their youth; yea, the children of Israel have but provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith Jehovah.

31 Car cette ville n’a fait qu’exciter ma colère et ma fureur, depuis le jour où ils l’ont bâtie jusqu’à ce jour afin que je la fasse disparaître de devant ma face,

For this city hath been the object of my anger and my fury, from the day when they built it even to this day; that I might remove it from before my face,

32 à cause de tout le mal que les enfants d’Israël et les enfants de Juda ont fait pour m’irriter, eux, leurs rois, leurs chefs, leurs prêtres et leurs prophètes, les hommes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem.

because of all the wickedness of the children of Israel, and of the children of Judah, which they have committed to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

33 Ils m’ont tourné le dos et non pas la face, et, quand je les ai instruits, les instruisant dès le matin, ils n’ont pas écouté pour recevoir l’instruction.

For they have turned to me the back, and not the face; though I have taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet have they not hearkened to receive instruction.

34 Et ils ont mis leurs abominations dans la maison sur laquelle mon nom est invoqué, pour la souiller.

And they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

35 Ils ont bâti les hauts lieux de Baal dans la vallée du fils de Hinnom, faisant passer par le feu leurs fils et leurs filles pour Moloch: ce que je ne leur avais pas commandé, et ce qui ne m’était pas venu à la pensée, faisant cette abomination pour faire pêcher Juda.

And they have built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Moloch, which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should practise their abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

36 Maintenant donc, ainsi parle Yahweh, Dieu d’Israël, touchant cette ville dont vous dites: « Elle sera livrée aux mains du roi de Balylone, par l’épée, la famine et la peste: »

Yet now thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel concerning this city, of which ye say, “It is delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.”

37 Voici que je les rassemblerai de tous les pays où je les aurai chassés dans ma colère, dans mon indignation et dans mon grand courroux; je les ramènerai dans ce lieu et je les y ferai habiter en sécurité.

Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries whither I have driven them in my anger and my fury and my great wrath, and I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell securely,

38 Ils seront mon peuple, et moi je serai leur Dieu.

and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

39 Je leur donnerai un même cœur et je leur ferai suivre une même voie, afin qu’ils me craignent toujours, pour leur bonheur et celui de leurs enfants après eux.

And I will give them one heart, and one way, to fear me continually, that it may be well with them, and with their children after them.

40 Je conclurai avec eux une alliance éternelle, pour ne pas me détourner d’eux, en cessant de leur faire du bien; et je mettrai ma crainte dans leur cœur pour qu’ils ne se détournent pas de moi.

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, nor cease to do them good; for I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

41 Je mettrai ma joie à leur faire du bien, et je les planterai fidèlement sur cette terre, de tout mon cœur et de toute mon âme.

Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land in truth, with my whole heart, and with my whole soul.

42 Car ainsi parle Yahweh: De même que j’ai fait venir sur ce peuple tous ces grands malheurs, de même je ferai venir sur eux tous ces biens dont je parle à leur sujet.

For thus saith Jehovah: As I have brought upon this people all this great evil, so will I bring upon them all the good which I have promised them.

43 Et on achètera des champs dans ce pays dont vous dites: « C’est un pays dévasté, où il n’y a plus ni homme ni bête; il est livré aux mains des Chaldéens. »

And fields shall yet be bought in this land, of which ye say, “It is desolate, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldaeans.”

44 On achètera des champs à prix d’argent, on en passera les actes, on les scellera et l’on prendra des témoins, dans le pays de Benjamin, et dans les environs de Jérusalem et dans les villes de Juda, dans les villes de la montagne, dans les villes de la sephélah, et dans les villes du négéb; car je ferai revenir les captifs, — oracle de Yahweh.

Fields shall men buy for money, and subscribe deeds, and seal them, and take witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the hill-country, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south; for I will bring them back from their captivity, saith Jehovah.
