Isaïe 28
1 Malheur à l’orgueilleux diadème des buveurs d’Ephraïm, à la fleur éphémère qui fait l’éclat de leur parure, sur les sommets de la fertile vallée des hommes ivres de vin.
Wo to the coroun of pride, to the drunkun men of Effraym, and to the flour fallynge doun of the glorie of the ful out ioiyng therof, that weren in the cop of the fatteste valei, and erriden of wyn.
2 Voici qu’un ennemi fort et puissant vient de la part du Seigneur, comme une averse de grêle, un ouragan destructeur; comme une averse de grosses eaux qui débordent, il le jettera par terre avec violence.
Lo! the myyti and strong Lord, as the feersnesse of hail, a whirlwynd brekynge togidere, as the fersnesse of many watris flowynge, and sent out on a large lond.
3 Il sera foulé aux pieds l’orgueilleux diadème des buveurs d’Ephraïm,
The coroun of pride of the drunken men of Effraym schal be defoulid with feet,
4 et il en sera de la fleur éphémère qui fait l’éclat de leur parure, au sommet de la fertile vallée, comme d’une figue mûrie avant l’été; celui qui l’aperçoit, l’a à peine dans la main, qu’il l’avale.
and the flour of glorie of the ful out ioiyng of hym, that is on the cop of valei of fat thingis, schal be fallyng doun, as a tymeli thing bifore the ripenesse of heruest; which whanne a man seynge biholdith, anoon as he takith with hond, he schal deuoure it.
5 En ce jour-là, Yahweh sera un brillant diadème, et une couronne de gloire pour le reste de son peuple;
In that dai the Lord of oostis schal be a coroun of glorie, and a garlond of ful out ioiyng, to the residue of his puple;
6 un esprit de justice pour celui qui siège pour la justice, une force pour ceux qui repoussent l’assaut à la porte.
and a spirit of doom to hym that sittith on the trone, and strengthe to hem that turnen ayen fro batel to the yate.
7 Eux aussi sont troublés par le vin, égarés par les boissons fortes, prêtre et prophète sont égarés par les boissons fortes; ils sont noyés dans le vin, égarés par les boissons fortes; ils sont troublés en prophétisant, ils vacillent en jugeant,
But also thei knewen not for wyn, and erriden for drunkenesse; the preest and profete knewen not for drunkenesse; thei weren sopun up of wyn, thei erriden in drunkenesse; thei knewen not a profete, thei knewen not doom.
8 toutes les tables sont couvertes d’immondes vomissements, il n’y a plus de place.
For whi alle bordis weren fillid with spuyng and filthis, so that ther was no more place.
9 « A qui veut-il enseigner la sagesse, et à qui veut-il faire comprendre la leçon? A des enfants à peine sevrés, à peine détachés de la mamelle?
Whom schal he teche kunnyng, and whom schal he make to vndurstonde heryng? Men wenyd fro mylk, men drawun awei fro tetis.
10 Car c’est ordre sur ordre, ordre sur ordre, règle sur règle, règle sur règle, tantôt ceci, tantôt cela. »
For whi comaunde thou, comaunde thou ayen; comaunde thou, comaunde thou ayen; abide thou, abide thou ayen; abide thou, abide thou ayen; a litil there, a litil there.
11 Eh bien, c’est par des gens qui balbutient, et dans une langue étrangère, que Yahweh parlera à ce peuple.
For whi in speche of lippe, and in other langage he schal speke to this puple,
12 Il avait dit: « Voici le lieu du repos: laissez reposer celui qui est fatigué; voici le soulagement; » mais ils n’ont pas voulu entendre.
to which he seide, This is my reste; refreische ye a weri man, and this is my refreischyng; and thei nolden here.
13 La parole de Yahweh sera donc pour eux ordre sur ordre, ordre sur ordre, règle sur règle, règle sur règle; tantôt ceci, tantôt cela, afin qu’ils aillent, et tombent à la renverse, qu’ils se brisent, qu’ils soient pris au filet.
And the word of the Lord schal be to hem, Sende thou, sende thou ayen; send thou, sende thou ayen; abide thou, abide thou ayen; abide thou, abide thou ayen; a litil there, a litil there; that thei go, and falle backward, and be al to-brokun, and be snarid, and be takun.
14 C’est pourquoi écoutez la parole de Yahweh, hommes moqueurs, chefs de ce peuple qui est à Jérusalem.
For this thing, ye men scorneris, that ben lordis ouer my puple which is in Jerusalem, here the word of the Lord.
15 Vous dites: « Nous avons fait un pacte avec la mort, nous avons fait une convention avec le schéol. Le fléau débordant passera et ne nous atteindra pas; car nous nous sommes fait du mensonge un refuge, et de la fraude un abri. » (Sheol h7585)
For ye seiden, We han smyte a boond of pees with deth, and we han maad couenaunt with helle; a scourge flowynge whanne it schal passe, schal not come on vs, for we han set a leesyng oure hope, and we ben kyuered with a leesyng. (Sheol h7585)
16 C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Voici que j’ai mis pour fondement en Sion une pierre, une pierre éprouvée, angulaire, de prix, solidement posée: qui s’appuiera sur elle avec foi ne fuira pas.
Therfor the Lord God seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal sende in the foundementis of Sion a corner stoon preciouse, preuyd, foundid in the foundement; he that bileueth, schal not haaste.
17 Je prendrai le droit pour règle, et la justice pour niveau. Et la grêle balaiera le refuge de mensonge, et les eaux emporteront votre abri.
And Y schal sette doom in weiyte, and riytfulnesse in mesure; and hail schal distrie the hope of leesyng, and watris schulen flowe on proteccioun. And youre boond of pees with deth schal be don awei,
18 Votre pacte avec la mort sera anéanti, et votre convention avec le schéol ne subsistera pas; quand le fléau débordant passera, il vous écrasera; (Sheol h7585)
and youre couenaunt with helle schal not stonde; whanne the scourge flowynge schal passe, ye schulen be to it in to defoulyng. (Sheol h7585)
19 aussi souvent qu’il passera, il vous saisira. Car il passera demain et demain, le jour et la nuit; la terreur seule vous fera la leçon!
Whanne euer it schal passe, it schal take awei yow; for whi erli in the grey morewtid it schal passe, in dai and niyt; and oonli trauel aloone schal yyue vndurstondyng to heryng.
20 Car « le lit est trop court pour s’y étendre, et la couverture trop étroite pour s’en envelopper. »
Forsothe the bed is streit, so that the tother falle doun; and a schort mentil schal not hile euer either.
21 Car Yahweh se lèvera comme à la montagne de Pharasim; il frémira d’indignation comme dans la vallée de Gabaon, pour accomplir son œuvre, œuvre singulière, pour exécuter son travail, travail étrange!
For as in the hil of departyngis the Lord schal stonde, as in the valei, which is in Gabaon, he schal be wroth, that he do his werk; his werk alien, that he worche his werk; his werk is straunge fro hym.
22 Et maintenant, cessez de vous moquer, de peur que vos liens ne se resserrent; car une destruction est résolue, — je l’ai entendu, — par Yahweh des armées, contre toute la terre.
And now nyle ye scorne, lest perauenture youre boondis be maad streit togidere; for Y herde of the Lord God of oostis, endyng and abreggyng on al erthe.
23 Prêtez l’oreille et entendez ma voix, soyez attentifs et entendez ma parole.
Perseyue ye with eeris, and here ye my vois; perseyue ye, and here ye my speche.
24 Le laboureur, pour semer, est-il toujours à labourer, à ouvrir et à herser sa terre?
Whether he that erith, schal ere al dai, for to sowe, and schal be kerue, and purge his londe?
25 Ne va-t-il pas, quand il en a aplani la surface, jetter la nigelle, semer le cumin, mettre le froment en lignes, l’orge à sa place, et l’épeautre en bordure?
Whether whanne he hath maad euene the face therof, schal he not sowe gith, and sprenge abrood comyn? and he schal not sette wheete bi ordre, and barli, and mylium, and fetchis in his coostis?
26 C’est son Dieu qui lui enseigne ces règles, et qui l’instruit.
And his God schal teche hym, in doom he schal teche hym.
27 Car ce n’est pas avec le traîneau qu’on foule la nigelle et la roue du chariot ne passe pas sur le cumin; mais on bat la nigelle avec le bâton, et le cumin avec la verge.
Forsothe gith schal not be threischid in sawis, and a wheel of a wayn schal not cumpasse on comyn; but gith schal be betun out with a yerd, and comyn with a staf.
28 On foule le froment, mais on se garde de le battre toujours; on y pousse la roue du chariot, et les chevaux, mais sans le broyer.
Sotheli breed schal be maad lesse, but he that threischith schal not threische it with outen ende, nether schal trauele it with a wheel of a wayn, nether schal make it lesse with hise clees.
29 Cela aussi vient de Yahweh des armées; il est admirable en ses conseils et riche en ses moyens.
And this thing yede out of the Lord God of oostis, that he schulde make wondirful councel, and magnefie riytfulnesse.
