Osée 12
1 Ephraïm se repaît de vent, et il court après le vent d’orient. Tout le jour il accumule le mensonge et la violence; ils concluent alliance avec Assur, et l’huile est transportée en Égypte.
Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind; Every day he multiplieth falsehood and violence; They make a league with Assyria, And oil is carried into Egypt.
2 Yahweh a aussi procès avec Juda; il va châtier Jacob selon ses voies, il lui rendra selon ses œuvres.
Therefore Jehovah hath a controversy with Judah. And he will punish Jacob for his ways, And requite him according to his doings.
3 Dans le sein de sa mère, Jacob supplanta son frère, et dans sa vigueur il lutta avec Dieu.
In the womb he took his brother by the heel, And in his strength he contended with God;
4 Il lutta avec l’ange et il eut le dessus; il pleura et lui demanda grâce; il le trouva ensuite à Béthel, et là Dieu a parlé avec nous.
Yea, he contended with the angel, and prevailed; He wept, and made supplication to him. At Bethel he found him, And there he spake with us.
5 Or Yahweh est le Dieu des armées, son nom est Yahweh.
And Jehovah, the God of hosts, Jehovah is his name.
6 Et toi, tu reviendras à ton Dieu; garde la bonté et la justice, et espère en ton Dieu toujours.
Therefore turn thou to thy God; Observe mercy and justice, And hope in thy God always!
7 Canaan tient dans sa main une balance fausse, il aime à extorquer.
He is a Canaanite; in his hands are the balances of deceit; He loveth to oppress.
8 Ephraïm dit: « Pourtant je me suis enrichi, je me suis fait une fortune; dans tous mes gains, on ne trouvera pas pour moi un tort qui soit un péché. »
Yet Ephraim saith, Lo, I have become rich; I have found myself substance; In all my earnings can be found no transgression in which there is guilt.
9 Et moi je suis Yahweh, ton Dieu, depuis le pays d’Égypte; je te ferai encore habiter dans les tentes, comme aux jours de fête.
Yet I, Jehovah, have been thy God from the land of Egypt; I will again cause thee to dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
10 Et j’ai parlé aux prophètes, et moi, j’ai multiplié la vision; et, par l’intermédiaire des prophètes, j’ai parlé en paraboles.
I have also spoken to the prophets, And I have given many visions, And by the prophets I have used similitudes.
11 Si Galaad est vanité, ils ne seront que néant; à Galgal, ils ont sacrifié des taureaux; aussi leurs autels seront comme des monceaux de pierres, sur les sillons des champs.
Behold, Gilead is full of iniquity; Surely they have become corrupt; In Gilgal they sacrifice oxen, And their altars are like the heaps in the furrows of the field.
12 Jacob s’enfuit dans la plaine d’Aram; Israël servit pour une femme, et pour une femme il garda les troupeaux.
Jacob fled into the country of Syria, And Israel served for a wife, And for a wife he kept sheep.
13 Et par un prophète, Yahweh fit monter Israël hors d’Égypte, et par un prophète il fut gardé.
By a prophet Jehovah brought up Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet was he preserved.
14 Ephraïm a provoqué amèrement la colère divine; Il laissera tomber son sang sur lui, et son Seigneur lui rendra son outrage.
Ephraim hath provoked his Lord most bitterly; Therefore will he leave his blood upon him, And recompense to him his reproach.
