Genèse 41
1 Deux ans s’étant écoulés, Pharaon eut un songe. Voici, il se tenait près du fleuve,
Aftir twei yeer Farao seiy a dreem; he gesside that he stood on a flood,
2 et voici que du fleuve montaient sept vaches belles à voir et grasses de chair, et elles se mirent à paître dans la verdure.
fro which seuene faire kiyn and ful fatte stieden, and weren fed in the places of mareis;
3 Et voici qu’après elles montaient du fleuve sept autres vaches, laides à voir et maigres de chair, et elles vinrent se mettre à côté des vaches qui étaient sur le bord du fleuve.
and othere seuene, foule and leene, camen out of the flood, and weren fed in thilk brenke of the watir, in grene places;
4 Et les vaches laides à voir et maigres de chair dévorèrent les sept vaches belles à voir et grasses. Alors Pharaon s’éveilla.
and tho deuoureden thilke kien of whiche the fairnesse and comelynesse of bodies was wondurful.
5 Il se rendormit, et il eut un second songe. Et voici, sept épis s’élevaient d’une même tige, gras et beaux.
Farao wakide, and slepte eft, and seiy another dreem; seuen eeris of corn ful and faire camen forth in o stalke,
6 Et sept épis maigres et brûlés par le vent d’orient poussaient après ceux-là.
and othere as many eeris of corn, thinne and smytun with corrupcioun of brennynge wynd,
7 Et les épis maigres engloutirent les sept épis gras et pleins. Alors Pharaon s’éveilla. Et voilà, c’était un songe.
camen forth, deuourynge al the fairenesse of the firste. Farao wakide aftir reste,
8 Le matin, Pharaon eut l’esprit agité, et il fit appeler tous les scribes et tous les sages d’Égypte. Il leur raconta ses songes, mais personne ne put les expliquer à Pharaon.
and whanne morewtid was maad, he was aferd bi inward drede, and he sente to alle the expowneris of Egipt, and to alle wise men; and whanne thei weren clepid, he telde the dreem, and noon was that expownede.
9 Alors le chef des échansons, prenant la parole, dit à Pharaon: « Je vais rappeler aujourd’hui mes fautes.
Thanne at the laste the maistir `of boteleris bithouyte, and seide, Y knowleche my synne;
10 Pharaon était irrité contre ses serviteurs, et il m’avait mis en prison dans la maison du chef des gardes, moi et le chef des panetiers.
the kyng was wrooth to hise seruauntis, and comaundide me and the maister `of bakeris to be cast doun in to the prisoun of the prince of knyytis,
11 Nous eûmes un songe dans la même nuit, moi et lui, nous révâmes chacun selon la signification de son songe.
where we bothe saien a dreem in o nyyt, biforeschewynge of thingis to comynge.
12 Il y avait là avec nous un jeune Hébreu, serviteur du chef des gardes. Nous lui racontâmes nos songes, et il nous en donna l’interprétation; à chacun il interpréta son songe,
An Ebrew child, seruaunt of the same duk of knyytis was there, to whom we telden the dremes,
13 et les choses se passèrent comme il avait interprété: moi, Pharaon me rétablit dans mon poste, et lui, on le pendit. »
and herden what euer thing the bifallyng of thing preuede afterward; for Y am restorid to myn office, and he was hangid in a cros.
14 Pharaon envoya appeler Joseph, et on le fit sortir en hâte de la prison. Il se rasa, mit d’autres vêtements et se rendit vers Pharaon.
Anoon at the comaundement of the kyng thei polliden Joseph led out of prisoun, and whanne `the clooth was chaungid, thei brouyten Joseph to the kyng.
15 Et Pharaon dit à Joseph: « J’ai eu un songe que personne ne peut interpréter; et j’ai entendu dire de toi que, quand tu entends un songe, tu l’interprètes. »
To whom the kyng seide, Y seiye dremes, and noon is that expowneth tho thingis that Y seiy, I haue herd that thou expownest moost prudentli.
16 Joseph répondit à Pharaon en disant: « Ce n’est pas moi, c’est Dieu qui donnera une réponse favorable à Pharaon. »
Joseph answerde, With out me, God schal answere prosperitees to Farao.
17 Pharaon dit alors à Joseph: « Dans mon songe, voici, je me tenais sur le bord du fleuve,
Therfor Farao telde that that he seiy; Y gesside that Y stood on the brenke of the flood,
18 et voici que du fleuve montaient sept vaches grasses de chair et de belle apparence, et elles se mirent à paître dans la verdure.
and seuene kiyn, ful faire and with fleischis able to etyng, stieden fro the watir, whiche kiyn gaderiden grene seggis in the pasture of the marreis;
19 Et voici qu’après elles montaient sept autres vaches, maigres, fort laides d’aspect et décharnées; je n’en ai pas vu de pareilles en laideur dans tout le pays d’Égypte.
and lo! seuene othere kiyn, so foule and leene, sueden these, that Y seiy neuere siche in the lond of Egipt;
20 Les vaches maigres et laides dévorèrent les sept premières vaches, celles qui étaient grasses;
and whanne the formere kien weren deuourid and wastid, tho secounde yauen no steppe of fulnesse,
21 celles-ci entrèrent dans leur ventre, sans qu’il parût qu’elles y fussent entrées; leur aspect était aussi laid qu’auparavant. Et je m’éveillai.
but weren slowe bi lijk leenesse and palenesse. I wakide, and eft Y was oppressid bi sleep, and Y seiy a dreem;
22 Je vis encore en songe, et voici sept épis qui s’élevaient sur une même tige, pleins et beaux;
seuene eeris of corn, ful and faireste, camen forth in o stalke,
23 et voici, sept épis chétifs, maigres et brûlés par le vent d’orient, qui poussaient après ceux-là.
and othere seuene, thinne and smytun with `corrupcioun of brennynge wynd, camen forth of the stobil,
24 Et les épis maigres engloutirent les sept beaux épis. J’ai raconté cela aux scribes, et aucun d’eux ne me l’explique. »
whiche deuouriden the fairenesse of the formere;
25 Joseph dit à Pharaon: « Le songe de Pharaon est un; Dieu a fait connaître à Pharaon ce qu’il va faire.
Y telde the dreem to expowneris, and no man is that expowneth. Joseph answerde, The dreem of the king is oon; God schewide to Farao what thingis he schal do.
26 Les sept belles vaches sont sept années, et les sept beaux épis sont sept années, c’est un seul songe.
Seuene faire kiyn, and seuene ful eeris of corn, ben seuene yeeris of plentee, and tho comprehenden the same strengthe of dreem;
27 Les sept vaches chétives et laides qui montaient après elles sont sept années, et les sept épis vides, brûlés par le vent d’orient, seront sept années de famine.
and seuene kiyn thinne and leene, that stieden aftir tho, and seuene thinne eeris of corn and smytun with brennynge wynd, ben seuene yeer of hungur to comynge,
28 Telle est la parole que j’ai dite à Pharaon: Dieu a fait voir à Pharaon ce qu’il va faire.
whiche schulen be fillid bi this ordre.
29 Voici, sept années de grande abondance vont venir dans tout le pays d’Égypte.
Lo! seuene yeer of greet plentee in al the lond of Egipt schulen come,
30 Sept années de famine viendront ensuite, et l’on oubliera toute cette abondance dans le pays d’Égypte, et la famine consumera le pays.
and seuene othre yeer of so greet bareynesse schulen sue tho, that al the abundaunce bifore be youun to foryetyng; for the hungur schal waste al the lond,
31 On ne s’apercevra plus de l’abondance à cause de cette famine qui suivra dans le pays; tant elle sera grande.
and the greetnesse of pouert schal leese the greetnesse of plentee.
32 Et si le songe a été répété à Pharaon deux fois, c’est que la chose est décidée de la part de Dieu, et que Dieu se hâtera de l’exécuter.
Forsothe this that thou siyest the secunde tyme a dreem, perteynynge to the same thing, is a `schewyng of sadnesse, for the word of God schal be doon, and schal be fillid ful swiftli.
33 Maintenant, que Pharaon trouve un homme intelligent et sage, et qu’il l’établisse sur le pays d’Égypte.
Now therfor puruey the kyng a wijs man and a redi, and make the kyng hym souereyn to the lond of Egipt,
34 Que Pharaon établisse en outre des intendants sur le pays, pour lever un cinquième des récoltes du pays d’Égypte pendant les sept années d’abondance.
which man ordeyne gouernouris bi alle cuntreis, and gadere he in to bernys the fyuethe part of fruytis bi seuene yeer of plentee,
35 Qu’ils rassemblent tout le produit de ces bonnes années qui viennent; qu’ils fassent des amas de blé à la disposition de Pharaon, comme provisions dans les villes, et qu’ils les conservent.
that schulen come now; and al the wheete be kept vndur the power of Farao, and be it kept in citees,
36 Ces provisions seront pour le pays une réserve pour les sept années de famine qui arriveront au pays d’Égypte, et le pays ne sera pas consumé par la famine. »
and be it maad redi to the hungur to comynge of seuene yeer that schal oppresse Egipt, and the lond be not wastid bi pouert.
37 Ces paroles plurent à Pharaon et à tous ses serviteurs.
The counsel pleside Farao,
38 Et Pharaon dit à ses serviteurs: « Pourrions-nous trouver un homme pareil à celui-ci, ayant en lui l’esprit de Dieu? »
and alle his mynystris, and he spak to hem, Wher we moun fynde sich a man which is ful of Goddis spirit?
39 Et Pharaon dit à Joseph: « Puisque Dieu t’a fait connaître toutes ces choses, il n’y a personne qui soit aussi intelligent et sage que toi.
Therfor Farao seide to Joseph, For God hath schewid to thee alle thingis whiche thou hast spoke, wher Y mai fynde a wisere man and lijk thee?
40 C’est toi qui gouverneras ma maison, et tout mon peuple obéira à ta bouche; par le trône seulement je serai plus grand que toi. »
Therfor thou schalt be ouer myn hous, and al the puple schal obeie to the comaundement of thi mouth; Y schal passe thee onely by o trone of the rewme.
41 Et Pharaon dit à Joseph: « Voici que je t’établis sur tout le pays d’Égypte. »
And eft Farao seide to Joseph, Lo! Y haue ordeyned thee on al the lond of Egipt.
42 Et Pharaon ôta son anneau de sa main et le mit à la main de Joseph, et il le fit revêtir d’habits de fin lin et lui mit au cou un collier d’or.
And Farao took the ryng fro his hond, and yaf it in the hond of Joseph, and he clothide Joseph with a stoole of bijs, and puttide a goldun wrethe aboute the necke;
43 Il le fit monter sur le second de ses chars, et on criait devant lui: « A genoux! » C’est ainsi qu’il fut établi sur tout le pays d’Égypte.
and Farao made Joseph to `stie on his secounde chare, while a bidele criede, that alle men schulden knele bifore hym, and schulden knowe that he was souereyn of al the lond of Egipt.
44 Et Pharaon dit à Joseph: « Je suis Pharaon, et sans toi nul ne lèvera la main ni le pied dans tout le pays d’Égypte. »
And the kyng seide to Joseph, Y am Farao, without thi comaundement no man shal stire hond ether foot in al the lond of Egipt.
45 Pharaon nomma Joseph Tsaphnath-Panéach, et il lui donna pour femme Aseneth, fille de Putiphar, prêtre d’On. Et Joseph partit pour visiter le pays d’Égypte.
And he turnede the name of Joseph, and clepide him bi Egipcian langage, the sauyour of the world; and he yaf to Joseph a wijf, Asenech, the douyter of Potifar, preest of Heliopoleos. And so Joseph yede out to the lond of Egipt.
46 Joseph était âgé de trente ans lorsqu’il se présenta devant Pharaon, roi d’Égypte; et il quitta Pharaon pour parcourir tout le pays d’Égypte.
Forsothe Joseph was of thretti yeer, whanne he stood in the siyt of kyng Farao, and cumpasside alle the cuntreis of Egipt.
47 La terre rapporta à pleines mains pendant les sept années d’abondance.
And the plente of seuene yeer cam, and ripe corn weren bounden into handfuls, and weren gaderid into the bernys of Egipt,
48 Joseph rassembla tous les produits des sept bonnes années qu’il y eut au pays d’Égypte, et il fit des approvisionnements dans les villes, déposant dans l’intérieur de chaque ville les productions des champs d’alentour.
also al the aboundaunce of cornes weren kept in alle citeis,
49 Joseph amassa du blé comme le sable de la mer, en si grande quantité, qu’on cessa de compter, parce qu’il était sans nombre.
and so greet aboundaunce was of wheete, that it was maad euene to the grauel of the see, and the plente passide mesure.
50 Avant qu’arrivât l’année de famine, il naquit à Joseph deux fils, que lui enfanta Aseneth, fille de Putiphar, prêtre d’On.
Sotheli twei sones were born to Joseph bifor that the hungur came, whiche Asenech, douytir of Putifar, preest of Heliopoleos, childide to hym.
51 Joseph donna au premier-né le nom de Manassé, « car, dit-il, Dieu m’a fait oublier toute ma peine et toute la maison de mon père. »
And he clepide the name of the firste gendrid sone, Manasses, and seide, God hath maad me to foryete alle my traueilis, and the hous of my fadir;
52 Il donna au second le nom d’Ephraïm, « car, dit-il, Dieu m’a fait fructifier dans le pays de mon affliction. »
and he clepide the name of the secunde sone Effraym, and seide, God hath maad me to encreesse in the lond of my pouert.
53 Les sept années d’abondance qu’il y eut en Égypte étant achevées,
Therfor whanne seuene yeer of plentee that weren in Egipt weren passid,
54 les sept années de famine commencèrent à venir, comme Joseph l’avait annoncé. Il y eut famine dans tous les pays, tandis qu’il y avait du pain dans tout le pays d’Égypte.
seuene yeer of pouert bigunnen to come, whiche Joseph bifore seide, and hungur hadde the maistri in al the world; also hungur was in al the lond of Egipt;
55 Puis tout le pays d’Égypte fut aussi affamé, et le peuple cria à Pharaon pour avoir du pain. Et Pharaon dit à tous les Egyptiens: « Allez vers Joseph, faites ce qu’il vous dira. »
and whanne that lond hungride, the puple criede to Farao, and axide metis; to whiche he answeride, Go ye to Joseph, and do ye what euer thing he seith to you.
56 La famine étant sur toute la face du pays, Joseph ouvrit tous les greniers qu’on y avait établis et vendit du blé aux Egyptiens; et la famine s’accrut dans le pays d’Égypte.
Forsothe hungur encreesside ech dai in al the lond, and Joseph openyde alle the bernys, and seelde to Egipcians, for also hungur oppresside hem;
57 De toute la terre on venait en Égypte pour acheter du blé auprès de Joseph; car la famine s’était aggravée sur toute la terre.
and alle prouynces camen in to Egipt to bie metis, and to abate the yuel of nedynesse.
