Actes 15
1 Or quelques gens, venus de Judée, enseignaient aux frères cette doctrine: « Si vous n’êtes pas circoncis selon la loi de Moïse, vous ne pouvez pas être sauvés. »
Now certain men came down from Judaea, teaching the brothers and saying that without circumcision, after the rule of Moses, there is no salvation.
2 Paul et Barnabé ayant donc eu avec eux une contestation et une vive discussion, il fut décidé que Paul et Barnabé, avec quelques autres des leurs, monteraient à Jérusalem vers les Apôtres et les Anciens pour traiter cette question.
And after Paul and Barnabas had had no little argument and discussion with them, the brothers made a decision to send Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them to the Apostles and the rulers of the church at Jerusalem about this question.
3 Après avoir été accompagnés par l’Église, ils poursuivirent leur route à travers la Phénicie et la Samarie, racontant la conversion des Gentils, ce qui causa une grande joie à tous les frères.
So they, being sent on their way by the church, went through Phoenicia and Samaria, giving news of the salvation of the Gentiles, to the great joy of all the brothers.
4 Arrivés à Jérusalem, ils furent reçus par l’Église, les Apôtres et les Anciens, et ils racontèrent tout ce que Dieu avait fait pour eux.
And when they came to Jerusalem, they had a meeting with the church and the Apostles and the rulers, and they gave an account of all the things which God had done through them.
5 Alors quelques-uns du parti des Pharisiens, qui avaient cru, se levèrent, en disant qu’il fallait circoncire les Gentils et leur enjoindre d’observer la loi de Moïse.
But some of the Pharisees, who were of the faith, got up and said, It is necessary for these to have circumcision and to keep the law of Moses.
6 Les Apôtres et les Anciens s’assemblèrent pour examiner cette affaire.
And the Apostles and the rulers of the church came together and gave thought to the question.
7 Une longue discussion s’étant engagée, Pierre se leva et leur dit: « Mes frères, vous savez que Dieu, il y a longtemps déjà, m’a choisi parmi vous, afin que, par ma bouche, les Gentils entendent la parole de l’Évangile et qu’ils croient.
And when there had been much discussion, Peter got up and said to them, My brothers, you have knowledge that some time back it was God's pleasure that by my mouth the good news might be given to the Gentiles so that they might have faith.
8 Et Dieu, qui connaît les cœurs, a témoigné en leur faveur, en leur donnant le Saint-Esprit comme à nous;
And God, the searcher of hearts, was a witness to them, giving them the Holy Spirit even as he did to us;
9 il n’a fait aucune différence entre eux et nous, ayant purifié leurs cœurs par la foi.
Making no division between them and us, but making clean their hearts by faith.
10 Pourquoi donc tentez-vous Dieu maintenant, en imposant aux disciples un joug que ni nos pères ni nous n’avons pu porter?
Why then are you testing God, by putting on the neck of the disciples a yoke so hard that not even our fathers or we were strong enough for it?
11 Mais c’est par la grâce du Seigneur Jésus-Christ que nous croyons être sauvés, de la même manière qu’eux. »
But we have faith that we will get salvation through the grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way as they.
12 Toute l’assemblée garda le silence, et l’on écouta Barnabé et Paul, qui racontèrent tous les miracles et les prodiges que Dieu avait faits par eux au milieu des Gentils.
And all the people were quiet while Barnabas and Paul gave an account of the signs and wonders which God had done among the Gentiles by them.
13 Lorsqu’ils eurent cessé de parler, Jacques prit la parole et dit: « Frères, écoutez-moi.
And when they had come to an end, James, answering, said, My brothers, give ear to me:
14 Simon a raconté comment Dieu tout d’abord a pris soin de tirer du milieu des Gentils un peuple qui portât son nom.
Symeon has given an account of how God was first pleased to take from among the Gentiles a people for himself.
15 Avec ce dessein concordent les paroles des prophètes, selon qu’il est écrit:
And this is in agreement with the words of the prophets, as it is said,
16 Après cela je reviendrai, et je rebâtirai la tente de David qui est renversée par terre; j’en réparerai les ruines et la relèverai,
After these things I will come back, and will put up the tent of David which has been broken down, building up again its broken parts and making it complete:
17 afin que le reste des hommes cherche le Seigneur, ainsi que toutes les nations qui sont appelées de mon nom, dit le Seigneur, qui exécute ces choses.
So that the rest of men may make search for the Lord, and all the Gentiles on whom my name is named,
Says the Lord, who has made these things clear from the earliest times. (aiōn g165)
19 C’est pourquoi je suis d’avis qu’il ne faut pas inquiéter ceux d’entre les Gentils qui se convertissent à Dieu.
For this reason my decision is, that we do not put trouble in the way of those who from among the Gentiles are turned to God;
20 Qu’on leur écrive seulement qu’ils ont à s’abstenir des souillures des idoles, de l’impureté, des viandes étouffées et du sang.
But that we give them orders to keep themselves from things offered to false gods, and from the evil desires of the body, and from the flesh of animals put to death in ways against the law, and from blood.
21 Car, depuis bien des générations, Moïse a dans chaque ville des hommes qui le prêchent, puisqu’on le lit tous les jours de sabbat dans les synagogues. »
For Moses, from times long past, has his preachers in every town, reading his law in the Synagogues every Sabbath.
22 Alors il parut bon aux Apôtres et aux Anciens, ainsi qu’à toute l’Église, de choisir quelques-uns d’entre eux pour les envoyer à Antioche avec Paul et Barnabé; on choisit Jude, surnommé Barsabas, et Silas, personnages éminents parmi les frères.
Then it seemed good to the Apostles and the rulers and all the church, to send men from among them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; Judas, named Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brothers:
23 Ils les chargèrent d’une lettre ainsi conçue: « Les Apôtres, les Anciens et les frères, aux frères d’entre les Gentils qui sont à Antioche, en Syrie et en Cilicie, salut!
And they sent a letter by them, saying, The Apostles and the older brothers, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, may joy be with you:
24 Ayant appris que quelques-uns des nôtres sont venus, sans aucun mandat de notre part, vous troubler par des discours qui ont bouleversé vos âmes,
Because we have knowledge that some who went from us have been troubling you with their words, putting your souls in doubt; to whom we gave no such order;
25 nous nous sommes assemblés et nous avons jugé à propos de choisir des délégués et de vous les envoyer avec nos bien-aimés Barnabé et Paul,
It seemed good to us, having come to an agreement together, to send these men to you, with our well loved Barnabas and Paul,
26 ces hommes qui ont exposé leur vie pour le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
Men who have given up their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 Nous avons donc député Jude et Silas, qui vous diront de vive voix les mêmes choses.
And so we have sent Judas and Silas, who will say the same things to you themselves, by word of mouth.
28 Il a semblé bon au Saint-Esprit et à nous de ne vous imposer aucun fardeau au-delà de ce qui est indispensable, savoir,
For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us, to put on you nothing more than these necessary things;
29 de vous abstenir des viandes offertes aux idoles, du sang, de la chair étouffée et de l’impureté. En vous gardant de ces choses, vous ferez bien. Adieu. »
To keep from things offered to false gods, and from blood, and from things put to death in ways which are against the law, and from the evil desires of the body; if you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. May you be happy.
30 Ayant donc pris congé, les députés se rendirent à Antioche, assemblèrent tous les fidèles et leurs remirent la lettre.
So they, being sent away, came down to Antioch, and having got the people together, they gave them the letter.
31 On en fit lecture et tous furent heureux de la consolation qu’elle renfermait.
And after reading it, they were glad of its comfort.
32 Jude et Silas, qui étaient eux-mêmes prophètes, adressèrent plusieurs fois la parole aux frères, pour les exhorter et les affermir.
And Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, gave teaching to the brothers and made them strong in the faith.
33 Après un séjour de quelque temps, ils furent congédiés par les frères, avec des souhait de paix vers ceux qui les avaient envoyés.
And when they had been there for some time, they were sent back in peace by the brothers to those who had sent them.
34 Toutefois, Silas trouva bon de rester, et Jude s’en alla seul à Jérusalem.
35 Paul et Barnabé demeurèrent à Antioche, enseignant et annonçant avec plusieurs autres la parole du Seigneur.
But Paul and Barnabas kept on in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of God, with a number of others.
36 Au bout de quelques jours, Paul dit à Barnabé: « Retournons visiter les frères dans les différentes villes où nous avons annoncé la parole du Seigneur, pour voir dans quel état ils se trouvent. »
And after some days, Paul said to Barnabas, Let us go back and see the brothers in every town where we have given the word of God, and see how they are.
37 Barnabé voulait emmener aussi Jean, surnommé Marc;
And Barnabas had a desire to take with them John, named Mark.
38 mais Paul jugeait bon de ne pas prendre pour compagnon un homme qui les avait quittés depuis la Pamphylie, et qui n’avait pas été à l’œuvre avec eux.
But Paul was of the opinion that it was not right to take with them one who had gone away from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone on with the work.
39 Ce dissentiment fut tel qu’ils se séparèrent l’un de l’autre; et Barnabé, prenant Marc, s’embarqua avec lui pour Chypre.
And there was a sharp argument between them, so that they were parted from one another, and Barnabas took Mark with him and went by ship to Cyprus;
40 Paul fit choix de Silas, et partit, recommandé par les frères à la grâce de Dieu.
But Paul took Silas and went away with the blessing of the brothers.
41 Il parcourut la Syrie et la Cilicie, fortifiant les Églises.
And he went through Syria and Cilicia, making the churches stronger in the faith.
