2 Samuel 7
1 Lorsque le roi fut établi dans sa maison et que Yahweh lui eut donné du repos en le délivrant de tous ses ennemis à l’entour,
And it came to pass when the king sat in his house, and the Lord had given him an inheritance on every side [free] from all his enemies round about him;
2 le roi dit à Nathan le prophète: « Vois donc! J’habite dans une maison de cèdre, et l’arche de Dieu habite au milieu de la tente! »
that the king said to Nathan the prophet, Behold now, I live in a house of cedar, and the ark of the Lord dwells in the midst of a tent.
3 Nathan répondit au roi: « Va, fais tout ce que tu as dans le cœur, car Yahweh est avec toi. »
And Nathan said to the king, Go and do all that [is] in thine heart, for the Lord [is] with thee.
4 Cette nuit-là, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Nathan en ces termes:
And it came to pass in that night, that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,
5 « Va dire à mon serviteur, à David: Ainsi parle Yahweh: Est-ce toi qui me bâtirais une maison pour que j’y habite?
Go, and say to my servant David, Thus says the Lord, Thou shalt not build me a house for me to dwell in.
6 Car je n’ai pas habité dans une maison depuis le jour où j’ai fait monter d’Égypte les enfants d’Israël jusqu’à ce jour; j’ai voyagé sous une tente et dans un tabernacle.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt to this day, but I have been walking in a lodge and in a tent,
7 Pendant tout le temps que j’ai voyagé avec tous les enfants d’Israël, ai-je dit un mot à l’un des chefs d’Israël à qui j’ai ordonné de paître mon peuple d’Israël, en disant: Pourquoi ne me bâtissez-vous pas une maison de cèdre?
wheresoever I went with all Israel. Have I ever spoken to any of the tribes of Israel, which I commanded to tend my people Israel, saying, Why have ye not built me a house of Cedar?
8 Maintenant, tu diras à mon serviteur, à David: Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Je t’ai pris au pâturage, derrière les brebis, pour être prince sur mon peuple, sur Israël;
And now thus shalt thou say to my servant David, Thus says the Lord Almighty, I took thee from the sheep-cote, that thou shouldest be a prince over my people, over Israel.
9 j’ai été avec toi partout où tu allais, j’ai exterminé tous tes ennemis devant toi, et je t’ai fait un grand nom, comme le nom des grands qui sont sur la terre;
And I was with thee wheresoever thou wentest, and I destroyed all thine enemies before thee, and I made thee renowned according to the renown of the great ones on the earth.
10 j’ai assigné un lieu à mon peuple, à Israël, et je l’ai planté, et il habite chez lui, et il ne sera plus troublé, et les fils d’iniquité ne l’opprimeront plus, comme autrefois
And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell by themselves, and shall be no more distressed; and the son of iniquity shall no more afflict them, as he [has done] from the beginning,
11 et comme au jour où j’avais établi des juges sur mon peuple d’Israël. Je t’ai accordé du repos en te délivrant de tous tes ennemis. Et Yahweh t’annonce qu’il te fera une maison.
from the days when I appointed judges over my people Israel: and I will give thee rest from all thine enemies, and the Lord will tell thee that thou shalt build a house to him.
12 Quand tes jours seront accomplis et que tu seras couché avec tes pères, j’élèverai ta postérité après toi, celui qui sortira de tes entrailles, et j’affermirai sa royauté.
And it shall come to pass when thy days shall have been fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, even thine own issue, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 C’est lui qui bâtira une maison à mon nom, et j’affermirai pour toujours le trône de son royaume.
He shall build for me a house to my name, and I will set up his throne even for ever.
14 Je serai pour lui un père, et il sera pour moi un fils. S’il fait le mal, je le châtierai avec une verge d’hommes et des coups de fils d’hommes.
I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. And when he happens to transgress, then will I chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the sons of men.
15 Mais ma grâce ne se retirera pas de lui, comme je l’ai retirée de Saül, que j’ai retiré de devant toi.
But my mercy I will not take from him, as I took it from those whom I removed from my presence.
16 Ta maison et ta royauté seront pour toujours assurées devant toi; ton trône sera affermi pour toujours. »
And his house shall be made sure, and his kingdom for ever before me, and his throne shall be set up for ever.
17 Nathan parla à David selon toutes ces paroles et toute cette vision.
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
18 Le roi David vint et demeura devant Yahweh; et il dit: « Qui suis-je, Seigneur Yahweh, et quelle est ma maison, pour que vous m’ayez fait arriver jusque-là?
And king David came in, and sat before the Lord, and said, Who am I, O Lord, my Lord, and what [is] my house, that thou hast loved me hitherto?
19 Et c’est encore peu de chose à vos yeux, Seigneur Yahweh; vous avez parlé aussi de la maison de votre serviteur pour les temps lointains: c’est agir à mon égard selon la loi de l’homme, Seigneur Yahweh!
Whereas I was very little before thee, O Lord, my Lord, yet thou spokest concerning the house of thy servant for a long time to [to come]. And [is] this the law of man, O Lord, my Lord?
20 Que pourrait vous dire de plus David? Vous connaissez votre serviteur, Seigneur Yahweh!
And what shall David yet say to thee? and now thou knowest thy servant, O Lord, my Lord.
21 C’est à cause de votre parole et selon votre cœur que vous avez fait toute cette grande chose, pour la faire connaître à votre serviteur.
And thou hast wrought for thy servant's sake, and according to thy heart thou hast wrought all this greatness, to make it known to thy servant,
22 C’est pourquoi vous êtes grand, Seigneur Yahweh! car nul n’est semblable à vous, et il n’y a pas d’autre Dieu que vous, d’après tout ce que nous avons entendu de nos oreilles.
that he may magnify thee, O my Lord; for there is no one like thee, and there is no God, but thou among all of whom we have heard with our ears.
23 Quelle autre nation y a-t-il sur la terre comme votre peuple, comme Israël, que Dieu est venu racheter pour en faire son peuple, pour lui faire un nom et accomplir pour vous des choses grandes et des prodiges en faveur de votre terre, en chassant de devant votre peuple, que vous vous êtes racheté d’Égypte, les nations et leurs dieux?
And what other nation in the earth [is] as thy people Israel? whereas God was his guide, to redeem for himself a people to make thee a name, to do mightily and nobly, so that thou shouldest cast out nations an [their] tabernacles from the presence of thy people, whom thou didst redeem for thyself out of Egypt?
24 Vous avez affermi votre peuple d’Israël pour qu’il soit votre peuple à jamais, et vous, Yahweh, vous êtes devenu son Dieu.
And thou has prepared for thyself thy people Israel to be a people for ever, and thou, Lord, art become their God.
25 Maintenant donc, Yahweh Dieu, la parole que vous avez dite au sujet de votre serviteur et au sujet de sa maison, maintenez-la à jamais et agissez selon votre parole;
And now, O my Lord, the Almighty Lord God of Israel, confirm the word for ever which thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and his house: and now as thou hast said,
26 et que votre nom soit glorifié à jamais, et que l’on dise: Yahweh des armées est Dieu sur Israël! Et que la maison de votre serviteur David soit affermie devant vous.
Let thy name be magnified for ever.
27 Car vous-même Yahweh des armées, Dieu d’Israël, vous vous êtes révélé à votre serviteur, en disant: Je te bâtirai une maison; c’est pourquoi votre serviteur s’est enhardi à vous adresser cette prière.
Almighty Lord God of Israel, thou hast uncovered the ear of thy servant, saying, I will build thee a house: therefore thy servant has found [in] his heart to pray this prayer to thee.
28 Maintenant, Seigneur Yahweh, c’est vous qui êtes Dieu, et vos paroles sont vraies. Or vous avez dit à votre serviteur cette parole agréable;
And now, O Lord my Lord, thou art God; and thy words will be true, and thou hast spoken these good things concerning thy servant.
29 maintenant, qu’il vous plaise de bénir la maison de votre serviteur, afin qu’elle subsiste à jamais devant vous. Car c’est vous, Seigneur Yahweh, qui avez parlé, et par votre bénédiction la maison de votre serviteur sera bénie éternellement. »
And now begin and bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord, my Lord, hast spoken, and the house of thy servant shall be blessed with thy blessing so as to continue for ever.
