1 Samuel 27
1 David se dit à lui-même: « Je périrai un jour par la main de Saül; il n’y a rien de mieux pour moi que de me réfugier promptement au pays des Philistins, afin que Saül renonce à me chercher encore dans tout le territoire d’Israël; j’échapperai ainsi à sa main. »
And David says to his heart, “Now I am consumed by the hand of Saul one day; there is nothing better for me than that I diligently escape to the land of the Philistines, and Saul has been despairing of me—of seeking me anymore in all the border of Israel, and I have escaped out of his hand.”
2 Et David s’étant levé, lui et les six cents hommes qui étaient avec lui, ils passèrent chez Achis, fils de Maoch, roi de Geth.
And David rises, and passes over, he and six hundred men who [are] with him, to Achish son of Maoch king of Gath;
3 David demeura auprès d’Achis, à Geth, lui et ses gens, chacun avec sa famille, et David avec ses deux femmes, Achinoam de Jezraël, et Abigaïl de Carmel, femme de Nabal.
and David dwells with Achish in Gath, he and his men, each one with his household, [even] David and his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelitess.
4 On annonça à Saül que David s’était enfui à Geth, et il ne recommença pas à le poursuivre.
And it is declared to Saul that David has fled to Gath, and he has not added to seek him anymore.
5 David dit à Achis: « Si j’ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, qu’on me donne dans l’une des villes de la campagne un lieu où je puisse demeurer; car pourquoi ton serviteur habiterait-il avec toi dans la ville royale? »
And David says to Achish, “Now if I have found grace in your eyes, they give a place to me in one of the cities of the field, and I dwell there, indeed, why does your servant dwell in the royal city with you?”
6 Et, ce jour-là, Achis lui donna Siceleg; c’est pourquoi Siceleg a appartenu aux rois de Juda jusqu’à ce jour.
And Achish gives Ziklag to him in that day, therefore Ziklag has been for the kings of Judah until this day.
7 Le nombre des jours que David passa dans le pays des Philistins fut d’un an et quatre mois.
And the number of the days which David has dwelt in the field of the Philistines [is one year] of days and four months;
8 David et ses hommes montaient et faisaient des incursions chez les Gessuriens, les Gerziens et les Amalécites; car ces peuplades habitaient dès les temps anciens du côté de Sur et jusqu’au pays d’Égypte.
and David and his men go up, and they push toward the Geshurite, and the Gerizite, and the Amalekite (for they are inhabitants of the land from of old), as you come to Shur and to the land of Egypt,
9 David ravageait la contrée, ne laissant en vie ni homme ni femme, enlevant les brebis, les bœufs, les ânes, les chameaux, les vêtements; puis il s’en revenait chez Achis.
and David has struck the land, and does not keep alive man and woman, and has taken sheep, and oxen, and donkeys, and camels, and garments, and turns back, and comes to Achish.
10 Achis disait: « Où avez-vous fait incursion, aujourd’hui? » Et David répondait: « Dans le Négéb de Juda, dans le Négéb des Jéraméélites et dans le Négéb des Cinéens. »
And Achish says, “To where have you pushed today?” And David says, “Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelite, and to the south of the Kenite.”
11 David ne laissait en vie ni homme ni femme pour les amener à Geth, de peur, se disait-il, « qu’ils ne fassent des rapports contre nous, en disant: Ainsi a fait David. » Et telle fut sa manière d’agir tout le temps qu’il demeura dans le pays des Philistins.
David keeps alive neither man nor woman, to bring in [word] to Gath, saying, “Lest they declare [it] against us, saying, Thus David has done, and thus [is] his custom all the days that he has dwelt in the fields of the Philistines.”
12 Achis se fiait à David, et il disait: « Il s’est rendu odieux à son peuple, à Israël, donc il sera mon serviteur à jamais. »
And Achish believes in David, saying, “He has made himself utterly abhorred among his people in Israel, and has been for a perpetual servant to me.”
