1 Samuel 11
1 Naas l’Ammonite monta et campa devant Jabès en Galaad. Tous les habitants de Jabès dirent à Naas: « Conclus une alliance avec nous, et nous te servirons. »
And he went up Nahash the Ammonite and he encamped on Jabesh Gilead and they said all [the] men of Jabesh to Nahash make to us a covenant and we will serve you.
2 Mais Naas l’Ammonite leur répondit: « Je traiterai avec vous à la condition que je vous crève à tous l’œil droit, et que je mette ainsi un opprobre sur tout Israël. »
And he said to them Nahash the Ammonite by this I will make to you by gouging out of you every eye of [the] right [side] and I will make it a reproach on all Israel.
3 Les anciens de Jabès lui dirent: « Accorde-nous un délai de sept jours, et nous enverrons des messagers dans tout le territoire d’Israël; et s’il n’y a personne qui nous secoure, nous nous rendrons à toi. »
And they said to him [the] elders of Jabesh refrain to us seven days so let us send messengers in all [the] territory of Israel and if there not [is one who] delivers us and we will come out to you.
4 Les messagers vinrent à Gabaa de Saül, et dirent ces choses aux oreilles du peuple; et tout le peuple éleva la voix et pleura.
And they came the messengers Gibeah of Saul and they spoke the words in [the] ears of the people and they lifted up all the people voice their and they wept.
5 Et voici que Saül revenait des champs, derrière ses bœufs; et Saül dit: « Qu’a donc le peuple, pour pleurer? » On lui rapporta ce qu’avaient dit les hommes de Jabès.
And there! Saul [was] coming after the cattle from the field and he said Saul what? [is] to the people that they are weeping and they recounted to him [the] words of [the] men of Jabesh.
6 Dès qu’il eut entendu ces paroles, l’Esprit de Yahweh saisit Saül, et sa colère s’enflamma.
And it rushed [the] spirit of God on Saul (just as heard he *Q(K)*) the words these and it burned anger his exceedingly.
7 Ayant pris une paire de bœufs, il les coupa en morceau, et il en envoya par les messagers dans tout le territoire d’Israël, en disant: « Quiconque ne marchera pas à la suite de Saül et de Samuel, aura ses bœufs traités de la même manière. » La terreur de Yahweh tomba sur le peuple, et il se mit en marche comme un seul homme.
And he took a pair of ox[en] and he cut in pieces it and he sent [them] in all [the] territory of Israel by [the] hand of the messengers - saying [the one] who not he [is] coming out after Saul and after Samuel thus it will be done to ox[en] his and it fell [the] dread of Yahweh on the people and they came out like a man one.
8 Saül en fit la revue à Bezech: les enfants d’Israël étaient trois cent mille, et les hommes de Juda trente mille.
And he mustered them at Bezek and they were [the] people of Israel three hundred thousand and [the] man of Judah [was] thirty thousand.
9 Ils dirent aux messagers qui étaient venus: « Vous parlerez aussi aux hommes de Jabès en Galaad: Demain vous aurez du secours, quand le soleil sera dans sa force. » Les messagers reportèrent cette nouvelle aux hommes de Jabès, qui furent remplis de joie.
And they said to the messengers who had come thus you will say! to [the] man of Jabesh Gilead tomorrow it will belong to you deliverance (like [the] heat of *Q(K)*) the sun and they went the messengers and they told to [the] men of Jabesh and they were glad.
10 Et les hommes de Jabès dirent aux Ammonites: « Demain, nous nous rendrons à vous, et vous agirez envers nous comme bon vous semblera. »
And they said [the] men of Jabesh tomorrow will we go out to you and you will do to us according to all the good in view your.
11 Le lendemain, Saül disposa le peuple en trois corps; ils pénétrèrent dans le camp des Ammonites à la veille du matin, et ils les battirent jusqu’à la chaleur du jour. Ceux qui échappèrent furent dispersés, de telle sorte qu’il n’en resta pas deux ensemble.
And it was from [the] next day and he made Saul the people three companies and they went in [the] midst of the camp in [the] watch of the morning and they struck down Ammon until [the] heat of the day and it was those [who] remained and they were scattered and not they remained among them two together.
12 Le peuple dit à Samuel: « Qui est-ce qui disait: Saül régnera-t-il sur nous? Livrez-nous ces gens, et nous les mettrons à mort. »
And it said the people to Samuel who? [is] the [one who] said Saul will he reign? over us deliver up the men so we may put to death them.
13 Mais Saül dit: « Personne ne sera mis à mort en ce jour, car aujourd’hui Yahweh a opéré le salut d’Israël. »
And he said Saul not he will be put to death anyone on the day this for this day he has done Yahweh deliverance in Israel.
14 Et Samuel dit au peuple: « Venez et allons à Galgala, pour y renouveler la royauté. »
And he said Samuel to the people come so let us go Gilgal so we may renew there the kingship.
15 Tout le peuple se rendit à Galgala, et ils établirent Saül pour roi devant Yahweh, à Galgala, et ils offrirent en ce lieu des sacrifices pacifiques devant Yahweh; et Saül et tous les hommes d’Israël s’y livrèrent à de grandes réjouissances
And they went all the people Gilgal and they made king there Saul before Yahweh in Gilgal and they sacrificed there sacrifices peace offerings before Yahweh and he rejoiced there Saul and all [the] men of Israel up to muchness.
