1 Le roi Salomon était roi sur tout Israël.
And King Salomon was King ouer all Israel.
2 Voici les chefs qu’il avait à son service: Azarias, fils de Sadoc, était le premier ministre;
And these were his princes, Azariah the sonne of Zadok the Priest,
3 Elihoreph et Ahia, fils de Sisa, étaient secrétaires; Josaphat, fils d’Ahilud, était archiviste;
Elihoreph and Ahiah the sonnes of Shisha scribes, Iehoshaphat the sonne of Ahilud, the recorder,
4 Banaïas, fils de Joïadas, commandait l’armée; Sadoc et Abiathar étaient prêtres;
And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada was ouer the hoste, and Zadok and Abiathar Priests,
5 Azarias, fils de Nathan, était chef des intendants; Zabud, fils de Nathan, prêtre, était conseiller intime du roi;
And Azariah the sonne of Nathan was ouer the officers, and Zabud the sonne of Nathan Priest was the Kings friend,
6 Ahisar était préfet du palais; et Adoniram, fils d’Abda, était préposé aux corvées.
And Ahishar was ouer the houshold: and Adoniram the sonne of Abda was ouer the tribute.
7 Salomon avait douze intendants sur tout Israël; ils pourvoyaient à l’entretien du roi et de sa maison, chacun devant y pourvoir pendant un mois de l’année.
And Salomon had twelue officers ouer all Israel, which prouided vitailes for the King and his housholde: eche man had a moneth in the yeere to prouide vitailes.
8 Voici leurs noms: Ben-Hur, dans la montagne d’Ephraïm; —
And these are their names: the sonne of Hur in mount Ephraim:
9 Ben-Décar, à Maccès, à Salebim, à Beth-Sames et à Elon de Béthanan; —
The sonne of Dekar in Makaz, and in Shaalbim and Beth-shemesh, and Elon and Beth-hanan:
10 Ben-Hésed, à Aruboth: il avait Socho et toute la contrée d’Epher; —
The sonne of Hesed in Aruboth, to whom perteined Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:
11 Ben-Abinadab, qui avait toutes les hauteurs de Dor; Tapheth, fille de Salomon, était sa femme; —
The sonne of Abinadab in all the region of Dor, which had Taphath the daughter of Salomon to wife.
12 Bana, fils d’Ahilud, qui avait Thanac et Mageddo, et tout Bethsan, qui est près de Sarthana au-dessous de Jezraël, depuis Bethsan jusqu’à Abel-méhula, jusqu’au delà de Jecmaan. —
Baana the sonne of Ahilud in Taanach, and Megiddo, and in all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath Izreel, from Beth-shean to Abelmeholah, eue til beyond ouer against Iokmeam:
13 Ben-Gaber, à Ramoth-de-Galaad: il avait les Bourgs de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, qui sont en Galaad; il avait la contrée d’Argob qui est en Basan, soixante grandes villes à murailles et à barres d’airain; —
The sonne of Geber in Ramoth Gilead, and his were the townes of Iair, the sonne of Manasseh, which are in Gilead, and vnder him was the region of Argob, which is in Bashan: threescore great cities with walles and barres of brasse.
14 Ahinadab, fils d’Addo, à Manaïm; —
Ahinadab the sonne of Iddo had to Mahanaim:
15 Ahimaas, en Nephthali: lui aussi avait pris pour femme une fille de Salomon, nommée Basemath; —
Ahimaaz in Naphtali, and he tooke Basmath the daughter of Salomon to wife:
16 Baana, fils de Husi, en Aser et à Aloth; —
Baanah the sonne of Hushai in Asher and in Aloth:
17 Josaphat, fils de Pharué, en Issachar; —
Iehoshaphat the sonne of Paruah in Issachar.
18 Séméï, fils d’Ela, en Benjamin; —
Shimei the sonne of Elah in Beniamin:
19 Gabar, fils d’Uri, dans le pays de Galaad, pays de Séhon, roi des Amorrhéens, et de Og, roi de Basan: il y avait un seul intendant pour cette contrée.
Geber the sonne of Vri in the countrey of Gilead, the land of Sihon King of the Amorites, and of Og King of Bashan, and was officer alone in the land.
20 Juda et Israël étaient nombreux comme le sable qui est sur le bord de la mer; ils mangeaient, buvaient et se réjouissaient.
Iudah and Israel were many, as the sand of the sea in number, eating, drinking, and making merry.
21 Salomon dominait sur tous les royaumes, depuis le fleuve jusqu’au pays des Philistins et à la frontière d’Égypte; ils apportaient des présents et ils furent assujettis à Salomon tous les jours de sa vie.
And Salomon reigned ouer all kingdomes, from the Riuer vnto the lande of the Philistims, and vnto the border of Egypt, and they brought presents, and serued Salomon all the dayes of his life.
22 Salomon consommait chaque jour en vivres: trente cors de fleur de farine et soixante cors de farine commune,
And Salomons vitailes for one day were thirtie measures of fine floure, and threescore measures of meale:
23 dix bœufs gras, vingt bœufs de pâturage et cent moutons, sans compter les cerfs, les chevreuils, les daims et les volailles engraissées.
Ten fat oxen, and twentie oxen of the pastures, and an hundreth sheepe, beside hartes, and buckes, and bugles, and fat foule.
24 Car il dominait sur tout le pays au delà du fleuve, depuis Taphsa jusqu’à Gaza, sur tous les rois au delà du fleuve; et il avait la paix avec tous ses sujets de tous côtés.
For he ruled in all the region on the other side of the Riuer, from Tiphsah euen vnto Azzah, ouer all the Kings on the other side the Riuer: and he had peace round about him on euery side.
25 Juda et Israël habitaient en sécurité, chacun sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, depuis Dan jusqu’à Bersabée, pendant tous les jours de Salomon.
And Iudah and Israel dwelt without feare, euery man vnder his vine, and vnder his fig tree, from Dan, euen to Beer-sheba, all the dayes of Salomon.
26 Salomon avait quarante mille stalles pour les chevaux destinés à ses chars, et douze mille chevaux de selle.
And Salomon had fourtie thousande stalles of horses for his charets, and twelue thousand horsemen.
27 Les intendants pourvoyaient à l’entretien du roi Salomon et de tous ceux qui étaient admis à la table du roi Salomon, chacun pendant son mois; ils ne laissaient rien manquer.
And these officers prouided vitaile for king Salomon, and for all that came to King Salomons table, euery man his moneth, and they suffred to lacke nothing.
28 Ils faisaient aussi venir de l’orge et de la paille pour les chevaux de trait et de course dans le lieu où ceux-ci se trouvaient, chacun selon ce qui lui avait été prescrit.
Barley also and strawe for the horses and mules brought they vnto the place where the officers were, euery man according to his charge.
29 Dieu donna à Salomon de la sagesse, une très grande intelligence et un esprit étendu comme le sable qui est au bord de la mer.
And God gaue Salomon wisdome and vnderstanding exceeding much, and a large heart, euen as the sand that is on the sea shore,
30 La sagesse de Salomon surpassait la sagesse de tous les fils de l’Orient et toute la sagesse de l’Égypte.
And Salomons wisdome excelled the wisedome of all the children of the East and all the wisedome of Egypt.
31 Il était plus sage qu’aucun homme, plus qu’Ethan l’Ezrahite, plus qu’Héman, Chalcol et Dorda, les fils de Mahol, et sa renommée était répandue parmi toutes les nations d’alentour.
For he was wiser then any man: yea, then were Ethan the Ezrahite, the Heman, then Chalcol, then Darda the sonnes of Mahol: and he was famous throughout all nations round about.
32 Il prononça trois mille maximes, et ses cantiques furent au nombre de mille et cinq.
And Salomon spake three thousand prouerbs: and his songs were a thousand and fiue.
33 Il disserta sur les arbres, depuis le cèdre qui est au Liban jusqu’à l’hysope qui sort de la muraille; il disserta aussi sur les quadrupèdes et sur les oiseaux, et sur les reptiles, et sur les poissons.
And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon, euen vnto the hyssope that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of foules, and of creeping thinges, and of fishes.
34 On venait de tous les peuples pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon, de la part de tous les rois de la terre qui avaient entendu parler de sa sagesse.
And there came of all people to heare the wisedome of Salomon, from all Kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisedome.
