1 Benjamin engendra Béla, son premier-né, Asbel le second, Ahara le troisième,
Benjamin had five sons: Bela, Ashbel, Aharah,
2 Nohaa, le quatrième et Rapha le cinquième. —

3 Les fils de Béla furent: Addar, Géra, Abiud,
The sons of Bela were Addar, Gera, Abihud,
4 Abisué, Naaman, Ahoé,
Abishua, Naaman, Ahoah,
5 Géra, Séphuphan, et Huram.
Gera, Shephuphan, and Huram.
6 Voici les fils d’Ahod: — ils étaient chefs des familles qui habitaient Gabaa, et ils les déportèrent à Manahath —:
[One of Gera’s sons was Ehud.] The descendants of Ehud were leaders of their clans who lived in Geba [city], but they were forced to move to Manahath [city].
7 Naaman, Achia et Géra; c’est lui qui les déporta, et il engendra Oza et Ahiud.
Ehud’s sons/descendants were Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera. Gera was the one who led them when they moved to Manahath. Gera was the father of Uzza and Ahihud.
8 Saharaïm eut des enfants au pays de Moab, après qu’il eut renvoyé ses femmes Husim et Bara.
[Another descendant of Benjamin was Shaharaim]. He and his wife Hushim had two sons, Abitub and Elpaal. In [the] Moab [region], Shaharaim divorced Hushim and his other wife Baara. [Then he married a woman whose name was] Hodesh, and they had [seven sons]: Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malcam, Jeuz, Sakia, and Mirmah. They were all leaders of their clans.
9 Il eut de Hodès, sa femme: Jobab, Sébia, Mosa, Molchom,
10 Jéhus, Séchia et Marma; ce sont là ses fils, chefs de familles.
11 Il eut de Husim: Abitob et Elphaal. —
12 Fils d’Elphaal: Héber, Misaam et Samad, qui bâtit Ono, Lod et les villes de sa dépendance.
Elpaal’s sons were Eber, Misham, Shemed, Beriah, and Shema. Shemed built [the towns of] Ono and Lod, and the nearby villages. Beriah and Shema were leaders of their clans, who lived in Aijalon [city]. They forced the people who lived in Gath [city] to leave their city.
13 Baria et Sama, chefs des familles qui habitaient Aïalon, mirent en fuite les habitants de Geth.
14 Ahio, Sésac, Jérimoth,
Beriah’s sons were Ahio, Shashak, Jeremoth, Zebadiah, Arad, Eder, Michael, Ishpah, and Joha.
15 Zabadia, Arod, Héder,
16 Michaël, Jespha et Joha étaient fils de Baria. —
17 Zabadia, Mosollam, Hézéci, Héber,
[Other] descendants of Elpaal were Zebadiah, Meshullam, Hizki, Heber,
18 Jésamari, Jezlia et Jobab étaient fils d’Elphaal. —

19 Jacim, Zéchri, Zabdi,
[Another descendant of Benjamin was Shimei.] Shimei’s descendants included Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi, Elienai, Zillethai, Eliel, Adaiah, Beraiah, and Shimrath.
20 Elioénaï, Séléthaï, Eliel,
21 Adaïa, Baraïa et Samarath étaient fils de Séméï. —
22 Jesphan, Héber, Eliel,
Shashak’s sons were Ishpan, Eber, Eliel,
23 Abdon, Zéchri, Hanan,
Abdon, Zicri, Hanan,
24 Hanania, Elam, Anathothia,
Hananiah, Elam, Anthothijah,
25 Jephdaïa et Phanuel étaient fils de Sésac. —
Iphdeiah, and Penuel.
26 Samsari, Sohoria, Otholia,
[Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeroham, whose sons were Shamsherai, Shehariah, Athaliah, Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zicri.
27 Jersia, Elia et Zéchri, étaient fils de Jéroham. —
28 Ce sont là des chefs de famille, des chefs selon leurs générations; ils habitaient à Jérusalem.
In the records of these clans it is written that all those men were leaders of their clans, and they lived in Jerusalem.
29 Le père de Gabaon habitait à Gabaon, et le nom de sa femme était Maacha.
[Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeiel. He lived in Gibeon [town], and he was the leader there. His wife was Maacah.
30 Son fils premier-né, Abdon, puis Sur, Cis, Baal, Nadab,
His oldest son was Abdon. His other sons were Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
31 Gédor, Ahio et Zacher.
Gedor, Ahio, Zeker,
32 Macelloth engendra Samaa. Ils habitèrent aussi près de leurs frères à Jérusalem, avec leurs frères. —
and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeah. All these sons of Jeiel also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
33 Ner engendra Cis; Cis engendra Saül; Saül engendra Jonathan, Melchisua, Abinadab et Esbaal. —
Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of [King] Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.
34 Fils de Jonathan: Méribbaal; Méribbaal engendra Micha. —
Jonathan’s son was Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal was the father of Micah.
35 Fils de Micha: Phiton, Mélech, Tharaa et Achaz.
Micah’s sons were Pithon, Melech, Tarea, and Ahaz.
36 Achaz engendra Joada; Joada engendra Alamath, Azmoth et Zamri; Zamri engendra Mosa.
Ahaz was the father of Jehoaddah. Jehoaddah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza.
37 Mosa engendra Banaa; Rapha, son fils; Elasa, son fils; Asel, son fils.
Moza was the father of Binea. The son of Binea was Raphah. The son of Raphah was Eleasah. The son of Eleasah was Azel.
38 Asel eut six fils, dont voici les noms: Ezricam, Bocru, Ismaël, Saria, Obdia et Hanan: tous ceux-là étaient fils d’Asel. —
Azel had six sons: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan.
39 Fils d’Esec, son frère: Ulam, son premier-né, Jéhus le deuxième, et Eliphalet le troisième.
Azel’s [younger] brother was Eshek. Eshek’s oldest son was Ulam. His other sons were Jeush and Eliphelet.
40 Les fils d’Ulam furent de vaillants hommes, tirant de l’arc, et ils eurent beaucoup de fils, et de petits-fils, cent cinquante. Tous ceux-là sont des fils de Benjamin.
Ulam’s sons were brave warriors and (good archers/able to shoot arrows well). Altogether they had 150 sons and grandsons. Those were the descendants of Benjamin.
