1 Chroniques 4
1 Fils de Juda: Pharès, Hesron, Charmi, Hur et Sobal. —
The descendants of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.
2 Raïa, fils de Sobal, engendra Jahath; Jahath engendra Achamaï et Lahad. Ce sont les familles des Saréens.
Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath was the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.
3 Voici les descendants du père d’Etam: Jezrahel, Jéséma et Jédébos; le nom de leur sœur était Asalelphuni.
These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. And their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
4 Phanuel fut le père de Gédor, et Ezer celui de Hosa. Ce sont là les fils de Hur, premier-né d’Ephrata, père de Bethléem.
Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and the father of Bethlehem.
5 Assur, père de Thécué, eut deux femmes: Halaa et Naara.
Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6 Naara lui enfanta Oozam, Hépher, Thémani et Ahasthari: ce sont là les fils de Naara. —
Naarah bore to him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the descendants of Naarah.
7 Fils de Halaa: Séreth, Isaar et Ethnan.
The sons of Helah were Zereth, Zohar, Ethnan,
8 Cos engendra Anob et Soboba, et les familles d’Aharéhel, fils d’Arum.
and Koz, who was the father of Anub and Zobebah and of the clans of Aharhel son of Harum.
9 Jabès était plus honoré que ses frères; sa mère lui donna le nom de Jabès, en disant: « C’est parce que je l’ai enfanté avec douleur. »
Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
10 Jabès invoqua le Dieu d’Israël en disant: « Si vous me bénissez et que vous étendiez mes limites, si votre main est avec moi et si vous me préservez du malheur, en sorte que je ne sois pas dans l’affliction!... » Et Dieu lui accorda ce qu’il avait demandé.
And Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only You would bless me and enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from harm, so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted the request of Jabez.
11 Kélub, frère de Sua, engendra Mahir, qui fut père d’Esthon.
Chelub the brother of Shuhah was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 Esthon engendra la maison de Rapha, Phessé et Tehinna, père de la ville de Naas. Ce sont là les hommes de Récha.
Eshton was the father of Beth-rapha, of Paseah, and of Tehinnah the father of Ir-nahash. These were the men of Recah.
13 Fils de Cénez: Othoniel et Saraïa. — Fils d’Othoniel: Hathath et Maonathi;
The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai.
14 Maonathi engendra Ophra — Saraïa engendra Joab, père de ceux qui habitaient la vallée de Charaschim, car ils étaient ouvriers. —
Meonothai was the father of Ophrah, and Seraiah was the father of Joab, the father of those living in Ge-harashim, which was given this name because its people were craftsmen.
15 Fils de Caleb, fils de Jéphoné: Hir, Ela et Maham. — Fils d’Ela: Cénez.
The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.
16 Fils de Jaléléel: Ziph, Zipha, Thiria et Asraël.
The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
17 Fils d’Esra: Jéther, Méred, Epher et Jalon. La femme de Méred, l’Egyptienne, enfanta Mariam, Sammaï et Jesba, père d’Esthamo.
The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. And Mered’s wife Bithiah gave birth to Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
18 Son autre femme, la Juive, enfanta Jared, père de Gédor, Héber, père de Socho, et Icuthiel, père de Zanoé. Ceux-là sont les fils de Béthia, fille de Pharaon, que Méred avait prise pour femme.
These were the children of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah. Mered also took a Judean wife, who gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.
19 Fils de la femme d’Odaïa, sœur de Naham: le père de Céïla, le Garmien, et le père d’Esthamo, le Machathien.
The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and of Eshtemoa the Maacathite.
20 Fils de Simon: Amnon, Rinna, Ben-Hanan et Thilon. Fils de Jési: Zoheth et Ben-Zoheth.
The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. The descendants of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-zoheth.
21 Fils de Séla, fils de Juda: Her, père de Lécha, Laada, père de Marésa, et les familles de la maison où l’on travaille le byssus, de la maison d’Aschbéa,
The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah and the clans of the linen workers at Beth-ashbea,
22 et Jokim, et les hommes de Cozéba, et Joas, et Saraph, qui dominèrent sur Moab, et Jaschubi-Léchem. Ces choses sont anciennes.
Jokim, the men of Cozeba, and Joash and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and Jashubi-lehem. (These names are from ancient records.)
23 C’étaient les potiers et les habitants de Nétaïm et de Gédéra; ils demeuraient là, près du roi, travaillant pour lui.
These were the potters who lived at Netaim and Gederah. They lived there in the service of the king.
24 Fils de Siméon: Namuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zara, Saül.
The descendants of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul.
25 Sellum, son fils; Madsam, son fils; Masma, son Fils. —
The sons of Shaul: Shallum, Mibsam, and Mishma.
26 Fils de Masma: Hamuel, son fils; Zachur, son fils; Séméï, son fils. —
The sons of Mishma: Hammuel, Zaccur, and Shimei.
27 Séméï eut seize fils et six filles; ses frères n’eurent pas beaucoup de fils, et toutes leurs familles ne se multiplièrent pas autant que les fils de Juda.
Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many children, so their whole clan did not become as numerous as the sons of Judah.
28 Ils habitaient à Bersabée, à Molada, à Hasar-Suhal,
They lived in Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual,
29 à Bala, à Asom, à Tholad,
Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,
30 à Bathuel, à Horma, à Sicéleg,
Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,
31 à Beth-Marchaboth, à Hasar-Susim, à Beth-Béraï et à Saarim: ce furent là leurs villes jusqu’au règne de David,
Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until the reign of David.
32 et leurs villages. Ils avaient encore: Etam, Aën, Remmon, Thochen et Asan, cinq villes,
And their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan—five towns—
33 et tous leurs villages, qui étaient aux environs de ces villes, jusqu’à Baal. Voilà leurs habitations, et leurs registres généalogiques.
and all their surrounding villages as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogical record:
34 Mosobab, Jemlech, Josa, fils d’Amasias,
Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah,
35 Joël, Jéhu, fils de Josabias, fils de Saraïas, fils d’Asiel,
Joel, Jehu son of Joshibiah (son of Seraiah, son of Asiel),
36 Elioénaï, Jacoba, Isuhaïa, Asaïa, Adiel, Ismiel, Banaïa,
Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,
37 Ziza, fils de Séphéï, fils d’Allon, fils d’Idaïa, fils de Semri, fils de Samaïa.
and Ziza son of Shiphi (son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah).
38 Ces hommes désignés par leurs noms étaient princes dans leurs familles. Leurs maisons patriarcales ayant pris un grand accroissement,
These men listed by name were the leaders of their clans. Their families increased greatly,
39 ils allèrent vers l’entrée de Gador, jusqu’à l’orient de la vallée, afin de chercher des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
and they journeyed to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, in search of pasture for their flocks.
40 Ils trouvèrent des pâturages gras et bons, et un territoire spacieux, tranquille et paisible; ceux qui y habitaient auparavant provenaient de Cham.
There they found rich, good pasture, and the land was spacious, peaceful, and quiet; for some Hamites had lived there formerly.
41 Ces hommes, inscrits par leurs noms, arrivèrent du temps d’Ezéchias, roi de Juda; ils détruisirent leurs tentes, ainsi que les Maonites qui se trouvaient là et, les ayant dévoués à l’anathème jusqu’à ce jour, ils s’établirent à leur place, car il y avait là des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
These who were noted by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites and Meunites there in their dwellings, devoting them to destruction even to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.
42 Des fils de Siméon allèrent aussi à la montagne de Séïr, au nombre de cinq cents hommes; Phaltias, Naarias, Raphaïas et Oziel, fils de Jési, étaient à leur tête.
And five hundred of these Simeonites led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, went to Mount Seir
43 Ils battirent le reste des Amalécites qui avaient échappé, et ils s’établirent là jusqu’à ce jour.
and struck down the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped. And they have lived there to this day.
