1 Chroniques 13
1 David tint conseil avec les chefs de milliers et de centaines, avec tous les princes.
And David consults with the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, [and] with every leader,
2 Et David dit à toute l’assemblée d’Israël: « Si vous le trouvez bon et si cela paraît venir de Yahweh, notre Dieu, envoyons au plus vite vers le reste de nos frères, dans toutes les contrées d’Israël, et aussi vers les prêtres et les lévites dans les villes où sont leurs pâturages, afin qu’ils se réunissent à nous,
and David says to all the assembly of Israel, “If it is good to you, and it has broken forth from our God YHWH—we send to our brothers, those left in all the lands of Israel, and the priests and the Levites with them in the cities of their outskirts, and they are gathered to us,
3 et que nous ramenions auprès de nous l’arche de notre Dieu, car nous ne nous en sommes pas occupés dans les jours de Saül. »
and we bring around the Ark of our God to us, for we did not seek Him in the days of Saul.”
4 Toute l’assemblée dit de faire ainsi, la chose ayant paru convenable aux yeux de tout le peuple.
And all the assembly says to do so, for the thing is right in the eyes of all the people.
5 David assembla donc tout Israël, depuis le Sihor d’Égypte jusqu’à l’entrée d’Emath, pour faire venir de Cariathiarim l’arche de Dieu.
And David assembles all Israel from Shihor of Egypt even to the entering in of Hamath, to bring in the Ark of God from Kirjath-Jearim,
6 Et David, avec tout Israël, monta à Baala, à Cariathiarim, qui est à Juda, pour faire monter de là l’arche de Dieu, de Yahweh qui siège sur les Chérubins, sur laquelle le Nom est invoqué.
and David goes up, and all Israel, to Ba‘alah, to Kirjath-Jearim that [belongs] to Judah, to bring up from there the Ark of God, YHWH, inhabiting the cherubim, where the Name is called on.
7 Ils placèrent sur un chariot neuf l’arche de Dieu, et l’emmenèrent de la maison d’Abinadab: Oza et Ahio conduisaient le chariot.
And they place the Ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio are leading the cart,
8 David et tout Israël dansaient devant Dieu de toute leur force, en chantant, et en jouant des harpes, des luths, des tambourins, des cymbales et des trompettes.
and David and all Israel are playing before God, with all strength, and with songs, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9 Lorsqu’ils furent arrivés à l’aire de Chidon, Oza étendit la main pour saisir l’arche, parce que les bœufs avaient fait un faux pas.
And they come to the threshing-floor of Chidon, and Uzza puts forth his hand to seize the Ark, for the oxen were released,
10 La colère de Yahweh s’enflamma contre Oza, et Yahweh le frappa, parce qu’il avait étendu la main sur l’arche; et Oza mourut là, devant Dieu.
and the anger of YHWH is kindled against Uzza, and He strikes him, because that he has put forth his hand on the Ark, and he dies there before God.
11 David fut fâché de ce que Yahweh avait ainsi porté un coup à Oza; et ce lieu a été appelé jusqu’à ce jour Phéréts-Oza.
And it is displeasing to David, because YHWH has made a breach on Uzza, and one calls that place “Breach of Uzza” to this day.
12 David eut peur de Dieu en ce jour-là, et il dit: « Comment ferais-je venir vers moi l’arche de Dieu? »
And David fears God on that day, saying, “How do I bring the Ark of God to me?”
13 David ne retira pas l’arche chez lui, dans la cité de David, et il la fit conduire dans la maison d’Obédédom de Geth.
And David has not turned aside the Ark to himself, to the City of David, and turns it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
14 L’arche de Dieu resta trois mois avec la famille d’Obédédom, dans sa maison; et Yahweh bénit la maison d’Obédédom et tout ce qui lui appartenait.
And the Ark of God dwells with the household of Obed-Edom, in his house, three months, and YHWH blesses the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he has.
