Zacharie 11
1 Ouvrez vos portes, Liban, pour que le feu dévore vos cèdres.
Open thy doors, O Lebanon, That the fire may devour thy cedars!
2 Gémis, cyprès, car le cèdre est tombé, parce que les majestueux sont détruits. Gémissez, chênes de Bashan, car la forêt forte est tombée.
Howl, O cypress, for the cedar falleth! For the lofty ones are destroyed! Howl, O ye oaks of Bashan, For the high forest is come down!
3 La voix des pleurs des bergers! Car leur gloire est détruite - une voix qui ressemble au rugissement de jeunes lions! Car la fierté du Jourdain est ruinée.
Hark! the voice of the howling of the shepherds, Because their glory is destroyed! The voice of the roaring of young lions, Because the pride of Jordan is destroyed!
4 Yahvé, mon Dieu, dit: « Paisez le troupeau de la boucherie.
Thus said Jehovah, my God: Feed thou the flock of slaughter,
5 Leurs acheteurs les égorgent et restent impunis. Ceux qui les vendent disent: « Béni soit Yahvé, car je suis riche », et leurs propres bergers n'ont pas pitié d'eux.
Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty, And which they who sell say, “Blessed be Jehovah, for I am rich!” And whose shepherds spare them not.
6 Car je n'aurai plus pitié des habitants du pays, dit l'Éternel, mais voici que je livrerai chacun de ces hommes entre les mains de son prochain et entre les mains de son roi. Ils frapperont le pays, et de leur main je ne les délivrerai pas. »
For I will no longer spare The inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah; But, behold, I will deliver the men Every one into the hand of his neighbor, And into the hand of his king; And they shall smite the land, And I will not deliver out of their hand.
7 J'ai donc nourri le troupeau à abattre, surtout les opprimés du troupeau. Je pris pour moi deux bâtons. J'appelai l'un « faveur » et l'autre « union », et je fis paître le troupeau.
So I fed the flock of slaughter, truly a miserable flock. And I took to me two crooks; the one I called Favor, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
8 J'exterminai les trois bergers en un mois, car mon âme était lasse d'eux, et leur âme aussi me haïssait.
And I cut off three shepherds in one month; for I was weary of them, and they also abhorred me.
9 Alors je dis: « Je ne vous ferai pas paître. Ce qui meurt, qu'il meure; et ce qui doit être retranché, qu'il soit retranché; et que ceux qui restent mangent la chair les uns des autres. »
Then I said, I will not feed you; that which dieth, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat the flesh of one another.
10 Je pris mon bâton Favor et je le taillai en pièces, afin de rompre l'alliance que j'avais conclue avec tous les peuples.
And I took my staff Favor, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the nations.
11 Elle fut rompue ce jour-là, et les pauvres du troupeau qui m'écoutaient surent que c'était la parole de Yahvé.
And it was broken in that day; and so the poor of the flock, who had regard to me, knew that it was the word of Jehovah.
12 Je leur dis: « Si vous le jugez bon, donnez-moi mon salaire; sinon, gardez-le. » Ils pesèrent donc pour mon salaire trente pièces d'argent.
Then I said to them, If it seem good in your eyes, give me my wages; if not, keep them. And they weighed for my wages thirty shekels of silver.
13 L'Éternel me dit: « Jette-les au potier, c'est le beau prix auquel ils m'ont estimé. » J'ai pris les trente pièces d'argent et je les ai jetées au potier dans la maison de l'Éternel.
And Jehovah said to me, Cast it into the treasury, the goodly price at which I was valued by them. And I took the thirty shekels of silver, and cast them into the house of Jehovah, into the treasury.
14 Puis j'ai coupé mon autre bâton, l'Union, afin de rompre la fraternité entre Juda et Israël.
Then I broke my other crook, even Bands, to break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
15 L'Éternel me dit: « Prends encore pour toi l'équipement d'un berger insensé.
And Jehovah said to me: Take to thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
16 Car voici que je vais susciter dans le pays un berger qui ne visitera pas ceux qui sont retranchés, ne cherchera pas ceux qui sont dispersés, ne guérira pas ceux qui sont brisés et ne nourrira pas ceux qui sont sains; mais il mangera la viande des brebis grasses et mettra leurs sabots en pièces.
For lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land Who shall not care for those that are perishing, Nor seek that which is gone astray, Nor heal that which is wounded, Nor support that which cannot go; But he shall eat the flesh of the fat, And consume it even to the hoofs.
17 Malheur au berger sans valeur qui abandonne le troupeau! L'épée frappera son bras et son œil droit. Son bras sera complètement desséché, et son œil droit sera complètement aveuglé! ».
Woe to the foolish shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword is upon his arm, and upon his right eye; His arm shall surely be withered, And his right eye shall surely be darkened!
