Psaumes 80
1 Pour le chef musicien. Sur l'air de « The Lilies of the Covenant ». Un psaume d'Asaph. Écoute-nous, berger d'Israël, toi qui conduis Joseph comme un troupeau, vous qui êtes assis au-dessus des chérubins, resplendissez.
“To the chief musician upon Shoshannim; an 'Eduth by Assaph; a psalm.” O Shepherd of Israel, give ear, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.
2 Devant Ephraïm, Benjamin et Manassé, réveillez votre force! Viens nous sauver!
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Menasseh awaken thy might, and come to our help.
3 Tourne-nous à nouveau, Dieu. Faites briller votre visage, et nous serons sauvés.
O God, cause us to return, and let thy countenance shine, that we may be saved.
4 Yahvé, Dieu des Armées, jusqu'à quand seras-tu en colère contre la prière de ton peuple?
O Lord of hosts, how long shall thy anger smoke against the prayer of thy people?
5 Tu les as nourris avec le pain des larmes, et leur a donné des larmes à boire en grande quantité.
Thou feedest them with the bread of tears, and givest them tears to drink in great measure.
6 Tu fais de nous une source de discorde pour nos voisins. Nos ennemis rient entre eux.
Thou renderest us a contest unto our neighbors: and our enemies hold derision among themselves.
7 Retourne-nous, Dieu des Armées. Faites briller votre visage, et nous serons sauvés.
O God of hosts, cause us to return, and let thy countenance shine, that we may be saved.
8 Tu as fait sortir d'Égypte une vigne. Tu as chassé les nations, et tu l'as planté.
A vine didst thou remove out of Egypt: thou drovest out nations, and plantedst it.
9 Vous avez défriché le terrain pour cela. Il s'est profondément enraciné, et a rempli la terre.
Thou didst clear out a place before it, and it struck its root deeply, and it filled the land.
10 Les montagnes étaient couvertes de son ombre. Ses branches étaient comme les cèdres de Dieu.
Mountains were covered with its shadow, and with its boughs the cedars of God.
11 Il a envoyé ses branches vers la mer, ses pousses à la rivière.
It sent out its tendrils as far as the sea, and unto the river its suckers.
12 Pourquoi avez-vous abattu ses murs? pour que tous ceux qui passent par le chemin le cueillent?
Wherefore hast thou now broken down its fences, so that all who pass by the way pluck the fruit from it?
13 Le sanglier qui sort du bois le ravage. Les animaux sauvages des champs s'en nourrissent.
The boar out of the forest doth gnaw at it, and what moveth on the field feedeth on it.
14 Tourne encore, nous t'en supplions, Dieu des armées. Regardez du haut du ciel, et voyez, et visitez cette vigne,
O God of hosts, return; I pray thee, look down from heaven, and behold, and think of this vine;
15 le cep que ta main droite a planté, la branche que tu as rendue forte pour toi-même.
And of the sprout which thy right hand hath planted, and of the branch that thou hast made strong for thyself.
16 Il est brûlé par le feu. C'est coupé. Ils périssent à votre réprimande.
It is burnt with fire, it is hewn down; because of the rebuke of thy countenance do they perish.
17 Que ta main soit sur l'homme de ta droite, sur le fils de l'homme que tu as rendu fort pour toi.
Let thy hand be over the man of thy right hand, over the son of man whom thou hast made strong for thyself.
18 Nous ne nous détournerons donc pas de vous. Ranime-nous, et nous invoquerons ton nom.
Then will we not swerve from thee: revive us again, and we will call on thy name.
19 Retourne-nous, Yahvé, Dieu des armées. Fais briller ton visage, et nous serons sauvés.
O Lord God of hosts, cause us to return: let thy countenance shine, that we may be saved.
