Psaumes 73
1 Un psaume d'Asaph. Certes, Dieu est bon pour Israël, à ceux qui ont le cœur pur.
BOOK THIRD: “A Psalm of Assaph.” Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure of heart.
2 Mais quant à moi, mes pieds étaient presque partis. Mes pas avaient presque glissé.
But as for me, it lacked but little that my feet had been moved: almost nothing was needed that my steps had slipped.
3 Car j'étais envieux des arrogants, quand j'ai vu la prospérité des méchants.
For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Car il n'y a pas de lutte dans leur mort, mais leur force est ferme.
For there are no deadly fetters for them, but their strength is firm.
5 Ils sont libérés des fardeaux des hommes, ils ne sont pas non plus frappés comme les autres hommes.
They share not in the trouble of mortals, and with men are they not afflicted.
6 C'est pourquoi l'orgueil est comme un collier à leur cou. La violence les couvre comme un vêtement.
Therefore is pride their neck-chain: violence envelopeth them as a garment.
7 Leurs yeux sont gonflés de graisse. Leur esprit dépasse les limites de la vanité.
Their eyes start out from fatness: they have exceeded their heart's imaginings.
8 Ils se moquent et parlent avec méchanceté. Dans leur arrogance, ils menacent d'oppression.
They scorn, and speak wickedly of oppression: loftily do they speak.
9 Ils ont placé leur bouche dans les cieux. Leur langue traverse la terre.
They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh busily on the earth.
10 C'est pourquoi leur peuple revient vers eux, et ils boivent des eaux en abondance.
Therefore do his people turn away hither: and waters of a full cup are drained by them.
11 Ils disent: « Comment Dieu le sait-il? Y a-t-il de la connaissance dans le Très-Haut? »
And they say, How should God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?
12 Voici, ce sont les méchants. Étant toujours à l'aise, ils augmentent leurs richesses.
Behold, these are the wicked; and yet prospering continually they increase in wealth.
13 C'est en vain que j'ai purifié mon cœur, et je me suis lavé les mains en toute innocence,
Verily in vain have I thus cleansed my heart, and have washed in innocency my hands:
14 Car toute la journée, j'ai été tourmenté, et puni chaque matin.
While I was afflicted all the day, and my chastisement [came] every morning.
15 Si j'avais dit: « Je vais parler ainsi », Voici, j'aurais trahi la génération de vos enfants.
But if I were to say, I will speak thus: behold, I would be treacherous against the generation of thy children.
16 Quand j'ai essayé de comprendre ça, c'était trop douloureux pour moi...
And when I should think to know this, it would be trouble in my eyes;
17 jusqu'à ce que j'entre dans le sanctuaire de Dieu, et envisagé leur fin.
Until I enter into the sanctuary of God; and understand what their future will be.
18 Tu les as placés dans des endroits glissants. Vous les jetez à la destruction.
Surely thou placest them on slippery spots: thou lettest them fall down into destruction.
19 Comme ils sont soudainement détruits! Ils sont complètement emportés par la terreur.
How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they perish, they come to their end with terrific events.
20 Comme un rêve quand on se réveille, alors, Seigneur, à votre réveil, vous mépriserez leurs fantasmes.
As a dream after awaking, O Lord, reject thou in wrath their image.
21 Car mon âme était affligée. J'étais aigri dans mon cœur.
For it fermented in my heart, and in my reins I felt sharp thrusts;
22 J'étais tellement insensé et ignorant. J'étais une bête brute avant toi.
But I was indeed foolish, and I knew it not: I was as a [thoughtless] beast with thee.
23 Néanmoins, je suis continuellement avec vous. Tu as tenu ma main droite.
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast seized hold of me by my right hand.
24 Tu me guideras par tes conseils, et ensuite me recevoir dans la gloire.
With thy counsel wilt thou guide me, and afterward take me on to glory.
25 Qui ai-je dans le ciel? Il n'y a personne sur terre que je désire en dehors de toi.
Whom have I in heaven? and beside thee I desire nothing upon earth.
26 Ma chair et mon cœur sont défaillants, mais Dieu est la force de mon cœur et mon partage pour toujours.
Though my flesh and my heart should fall; yet the rock of my heart, and my portion will be God for ever.
27 Car voici, ceux qui sont loin de toi périront. Tu as détruit tous ceux qui t'étaient infidèles.
For, lo, those that are far from thee shall perish: thou destroyest every one that strayeth away from thee.
28 Mais il est bon pour moi de m'approcher de Dieu. J'ai fait du Seigneur Yahvé mon refuge, pour que je puisse raconter toutes tes œuvres.
But as regardeth me, to draw near to God is good for me: I have put in the Lord Eternal my trust, that I may relate all thy works.
