Psaumes 56
1 Pour le chef musicien. Sur l'air de « Silent Dove in Distant Lands ». Un poème de David, quand les Philistins l'ont saisi à Gath. Aie pitié de moi, Dieu, car l'homme veut m'engloutir. Toute la journée, il m'attaque et m'opprime.
[For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Silent Dove in Distant Lands." A poem by David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.] Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
2 Mes ennemis veulent m'engloutir toute la journée, car ils sont nombreux à se battre fièrement contre moi.
My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.
3 Quand j'ai peur, Je vous fais confiance.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
4 En Dieu, je loue sa parole. En Dieu, je mets ma confiance. Je n'aurai pas peur. Que peut me faire la chair?
In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
5 Tout le jour, ils déforment mes paroles. Toutes leurs pensées sont contre moi, pour le mal.
All day long they twist my words. All their thoughts are against me for evil.
6 Ils conspirent et se cachent, à regarder mes pas. Ils sont impatients de prendre ma vie.
They conspire and lurk, watching my steps, they are eager to take my life.
7 Echapperont-ils par l'iniquité? Dans ta colère, renverse les peuples, Dieu.
Shall they escape by iniquity? In anger cast down the peoples, God.
8 Tu comptes mes pérégrinations. Tu as mis mes larmes dans ton récipient. Ils ne sont pas dans votre livre?
You number my wanderings. You put my tears into your bottle. Aren't they in your book?
9 Alors mes ennemis reculeront au jour où j'appellerai. Je sais ceci: que Dieu est pour moi.
Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call. I know this, that God is for me.
10 En Dieu, je louerai sa parole. En Yahvé, je louerai sa parole.
In God, I will praise his word. In Jehovah, I will praise his word.
11 J'ai mis ma confiance en Dieu. Je n'aurai pas peur. Que peut me faire l'homme?
I have put my trust in God. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
12 Tes vœux sont sur moi, Dieu. Je vous donnerai des offrandes de remerciement.
Your vows are on me, God. I will give thank offerings to you.
13 Car tu as délivré mon âme de la mort, et empêchait mes pieds de tomber, afin que je puisse marcher devant Dieu dans la lumière des vivants.
For you have delivered my soul from death, and prevented my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
