Psaumes 49
1 Pour le chef musicien. Un psaume par les fils de Korah. Écoutez ceci, vous tous, peuples. Écoutez, vous tous, habitants du monde,
For the end, a Psalm for the sons of Core. Hear these words, all you nations, listen, all you that dwell upon the earth:
2 à la fois basse et haute, les riches et les pauvres ensemble.
both the sons of mean men, and sons of [great] men; the rich and poor [man] together.
3 Ma bouche prononcera des paroles de sagesse. Mon cœur exprimera la compréhension.
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall bring [forth] understanding.
4 Je prêterai l'oreille à un proverbe. Je vais résoudre mon énigme sur la harpe.
I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my riddle on the harp.
5 Pourquoi aurais-je peur dans les jours de malheur? quand l'iniquité m'entoure à mes talons?
Therefore should I fear in the evil day? the iniquity of my heel shall compass me.
6 Ceux qui se confient en leurs richesses, et se vantent de la multitude de leurs richesses...
They that trust in their strength, and boast themselves in the multitude of their wealth—
7 aucun d'entre eux ne peut en aucune façon racheter son frère, ni donner à Dieu une rançon pour lui.
A brother does not redeem, shall a man redeem? he shall not give to God a ransom for himself,
8 Car la rédemption de leur vie est coûteuse, aucun paiement n'est jamais suffisant,
or the price of the redemption of his soul, though he labor for ever,
9 pour qu'il vive à jamais, pour qu'il ne voie pas la corruption.
and live to the end, [so] that he should not see corruption.
10 Car il voit que les sages meurent; de même, les fous et les insensés périssent, et laisser leur richesse à d'autres.
When he shall see wise men dying, the fool and the senseless one shall perish together; and they shall leave their wealth to strangers.
11 Leur pensée intérieure est que leurs maisons dureront toujours, et leurs demeures pour toutes les générations. Ils donnent leur nom à leurs terres.
And their sepulchres are their houses for ever, [even] their tabernacles to all generations: they have called their lands after their own names.
12 Mais l'homme, malgré ses richesses, ne résiste pas. Il est comme les animaux qui périssent.
And man being in honor, understands not: he is compared to the senseless cattle, and is like to them.
13 Tel est le destin de ceux qui sont insensés, et de ceux qui approuvent leurs paroles. (Selah)
This their way is an offense to them: yet afterwards men will commend their sayings. (Pause)
14 Ils sont désignés comme un troupeau pour le séjour des morts. La mort sera leur berger. Le matin, les hommes intègres domineront sur eux. Leur beauté se décompose dans le séjour des morts, loin de leur manoir. (Sheol h7585)
They have laid [them] as sheep in Hades; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning, and their help shall fail in Hades from their glory. (Sheol h7585)
15 Mais Dieu rachètera mon âme de la puissance du séjour des morts, car il me recevra. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
But God shall deliver my soul from the power of Hades, when he shall receive me. (Pause) (Sheol h7585)
16 N'ayez pas peur quand un homme s'enrichit, quand la gloire de sa maison sera accrue;
Fear not when a man is enriched, and when the glory of his house is increased.
17 car lorsqu'il mourra, il n'emportera rien. Sa gloire ne descendra pas après lui.
For he shall take nothing when he dies; neither shall his glory descend with him.
18 Bien que de son vivant, il ait béni son âme... et les hommes te louent quand tu fais du bien à toi-même...
For his soul shall be blessed in his life: he shall give thanks to you when you do well to him.
19 il ira à la génération de ses pères. Ils ne verront jamais la lumière.
[Yet] he shall go in to the generation of his fathers; he shall never see light.
20 Un homme qui a des richesses sans comprendre, est comme les animaux qui périssent.
Man that is in honor, understands not: he is compared to the senseless cattle, and is like them.
