Psaumes 4
1 Pour le chef musicien; sur instruments à cordes. Un psaume de David. Réponds-moi quand j'appelle, Dieu de ma justice. Soulagez-moi de ma détresse. Ayez pitié de moi, et entendez ma prière.
“To the chief musician on Neginoth, a psalm of David.” When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness: amidst distress thou hast [ever] granted me enlargement; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.
2 Fils d'hommes, jusqu'à quand ma gloire sera-t-elle transformée en déshonneur? Aimerez-vous la vanité et rechercherez-vous le mensonge? (Selah)
O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be put to shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, will ye seek for lies? (Selah)
3 Mais sachez que Yahvé s'est réservé celui qui est pieux; Yahvé entendra quand je l'appellerai.
But know that the Lord hath set apart the pious for himself: the Lord will hear when I call on him.
4 Restez dans la crainte, et ne péchez pas. Fouille ton propre cœur sur ton lit, et sois tranquille. (Selah)
Tremble, and sin not: commune with your heart upon your bed, and be still (Selah)
5 Offrez les sacrifices de la justice. Mettez votre confiance en Yahvé.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
6 Beaucoup disent: « Qui nous montrera du bien? » Yahvé, fais briller sur nous la lumière de ton visage.
Many say, “Who will show us happiness? Let shine brightly over us the light of thy countenance, O Lord.”
7 Tu as mis de la joie dans mon cœur, plus que lorsque leur grain et leur vin nouveau sont augmentés.
[But] thou hast placed more joy in my heart than at the time when their corn and their wine were increased.
8 En paix, je me coucherai et je dormirai, pour toi seul, Yahvé, fais-moi vivre en sécurité.
In peace, altogether, will I lay me down and sleep; for thou, Lord, alone, causest me to dwell in safety.
