Psaumes 33
1 Réjouissez-vous en Yahvé, vous les justes! La louange est digne de l'homme droit.
[A Psalm] of David. Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; praise becomes the upright.
2 Rendez grâce à Yahvé en jouant de la lyre. Chantez-lui des louanges avec la harpe à dix cordes.
Praise the Lord on the harp; platy to him on a psaltery of ten strings.
3 Chantez-lui une nouvelle chanson. Jouez habilement en poussant des cris de joie!
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
4 Car la parole de Yahvé est juste. Tout son travail est fait dans la fidélité.
For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are faithful.
5 Il aime la droiture et la justice. La terre est pleine de la bonté de Yahvé.
He loves mercy and judgment; the earth is full the mercy of the Lord.
6 Par la parole de Yahvé, les cieux ont été faits: toute leur armée par le souffle de sa bouche.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the host of them by the breath of his [mouth].
7 Il rassemble les eaux de la mer en un tas. Il dépose les profondeurs dans des entrepôts.
Who gathers the waters of the sea as [in] a bottle; who lays up the deeps in treasuries.
8 Que toute la terre craigne Yahvé! Que tous les habitants du monde soient en admiration devant lui.
Let all the earth fear the Lord; and let all that dwell in the world be moved because of him.
9 Car il a parlé, et cela s'est fait. Il a ordonné, et ça a tenu bon.
For he spoke, and they were made; he commanded, and they were created.
10 L'Éternel réduit à néant les projets des nations. Il fait en sorte que les pensées des peuples soient sans effet.
The Lord frustrates the counsels of the nations; he brings to nought also the reasonings of the peoples, and brings to nought the counsels of princes.
11 Le conseil de Yahvé est ferme à jamais, les pensées de son cœur à toutes les générations.
But the counsel of the Lord endures for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
12 Heureuse la nation dont le Dieu est Yahvé! le peuple qu'il a choisi pour son propre héritage.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.
13 Yahvé regarde du haut des cieux. Il voit tous les fils des hommes.
The Lord looks out of heaven; he beholds all the sons of men.
14 Du lieu de sa demeure, il regarde tous les habitants de la terre,
He looks from his prepared habitation on all the dwellers on the earth;
15 celui qui façonne tous leurs cœurs; et il considère tous leurs travaux.
who fashioned their hearts alone; who understands all their works.
16 Il n'y a pas de roi sauvé par la multitude d'une armée. Un homme puissant n'est pas délivré par une grande force.
A king is not saved by reason of a great host; and a giant shall not be delivered by the greatness of his strength.
17 Un cheval est une chose vaine pour la sécurité, il ne délivre personne par sa grande puissance.
A horse is vain for safety; neither shall he be delivered by the greatness of his power.
18 Voici, l'œil de Yahvé est sur ceux qui le craignent, sur ceux qui espèrent en sa bonté,
Behold, the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him, those that hope in his mercy;
19 pour délivrer leur âme de la mort, pour les maintenir en vie en cas de famine.
to deliver their souls from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Notre âme a espéré en Yahvé. Il est notre aide et notre bouclier.
Our soul waits on the Lord; for he is our helper and defender.
21 Car notre cœur se réjouit en lui, parce que nous avons fait confiance à son saint nom.
For our heart shall rejoice in him, and we have hoped in his holy name.
22 Que ta bonté soit sur nous, Yahvé, puisque nous avons espéré en toi.
Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we have hoped in thee.
