Psaumes 18
1 Pour le chef musicien. Par David, serviteur de Yahvé, qui adressa à Yahvé les paroles de ce chant, le jour où Yahvé le délivra de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül. Il dit, Je t'aime, Yahvé, ma force.
“To the chief musician, by the servant of the Lord, by David, who spoke unto the Lord the words of this song on the day that the Lord had delivered him out of the power of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul; And he said,” I ever love thee, O Lord, my strength.
2 Yahvé est mon rocher, ma forteresse et mon libérateur; mon Dieu, mon rocher, en qui je trouve refuge; mon bouclier, et la corne de mon salut, ma haute tour.
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 J'invoque Yahvé, qui est digne d'être loué; et je suis sauvé de mes ennemis.
Praised, I cried, be the Lord, and from my enemies was I saved.
4 Les cordes de la mort m'ont entouré. Les flots de l'impiété m'ont fait peur.
The bonds of death encompassed me, and the floods of destruction made me afraid.
5 Les cordes du séjour des morts m'entouraient. Les pièges de la mort se sont abattus sur moi. (Sheol h7585)
The bonds of hell encircled me: the snares of death seized on me. (Sheol h7585)
6 Dans ma détresse, j'ai invoqué Yahvé, et j'ai crié à mon Dieu. Il a entendu ma voix hors de sa tempe. Mon cri devant lui est parvenu à ses oreilles.
[When] in my distress I called upon the Lord, and unto my God I cried: he heard from his temple my voice, and my complaint came before him, even into his ears.
7 Alors la terre trembla et s'ébranla. Les fondements des montagnes ont aussi tremblé et ont été ébranlés, parce qu'il était en colère.
Then shook and trembled the earth; and the foundations of the mountains were moved; and they were shaken, because he was wroth.
8 De la fumée sortait de ses narines. Un feu dévorant est sorti de sa bouche. Des charbons ont été allumés par elle.
Smoke went up in his anger and consuming fire out of his mouth: coals flamed forth from him.
9 Il a aussi incliné les cieux, et il est descendu. Une obscurité épaisse était sous ses pieds.
And he bent the heavens, and came down: and thick darkness was under his feet:
10 Il était monté sur un chérubin, et il volait. Oui, il a plané sur les ailes du vent.
And he rode upon a cherub, and flew along, and he flitted by upon the wings of the wind.
11 Il a fait des ténèbres sa cachette, de son pavillon son entourage, l'obscurité des eaux, les nuages épais des cieux.
He made darkness his hiding-place, round about him as his pavilion, dark waters, thick clouds of the skies.
12 A la clarté qui le précède, les nuages épais ont disparu, des grêlons et des charbons ardents.
From the brightness before him his thick clouds passed away, [with] hail-stones and coals of fire.
13 Yahvé tonna aussi dans le ciel. Le Très-Haut a fait entendre sa voix: des grêlons et des charbons ardents.
And the Lord thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered forth his voice, [with] hail-stones and coals of fire.
14 Il envoya ses flèches, et les dispersa. Il les a mis en déroute avec de grands éclairs.
And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot forth lightnings, and discomfited them.
15 Alors les canaux d'eaux apparurent. Les fondations du monde ont été mises à nu par ta réprimande, Yahvé, au souffle de l'haleine de vos narines.
And then were seen the channels of the waters, and there were laid open the foundations of the world, through thy rebuke, O Lord, through the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
16 Il a envoyé d'en haut. Il m'a pris. Il m'a tiré de nombreuses eaux.
He stretched out from above [his hand], he took me; he drew me out from mighty waters.
17 Il m'a délivré de mon ennemi puissant, de ceux qui me haïssaient, car ils étaient trop puissants pour moi.
He delivered me from my enemy, the strong, and from those that hated me, when they were too mighty for me.
18 Ils sont venus sur moi au jour de ma calamité, mais Yahvé était mon soutien.
They overcame me on the day of my calamity; but the Lord became my stay.
19 Il m'a aussi fait sortir dans un grand lieu. Il m'a délivré, car il s'est réjoui de moi.
And he brought me forth into a large space; he delivered me, because he had delight in me.
20 L'Éternel m'a récompensé selon ma justice. Selon la pureté de mes mains, il m'a récompensé.
The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the purity of my hands did he recompense me.
21 Car j'ai gardé les voies de l'Éternel, et je ne me suis pas éloigné de mon Dieu par méchanceté.
For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 Car toutes ses ordonnances étaient devant moi. Je n'ai pas écarté ses statuts de moi.
For all his ordinances were before me, and his statutes had I not put away from me.
23 J'étais aussi irréprochable avec lui. Je me suis gardé de mon iniquité.
I was also upright with him, and I guarded myself against my iniquity.
24 C'est pourquoi Yahvé m'a récompensé selon ma justice, selon la propreté de mes mains à sa vue.
Therefore did the Lord recompense me according to my righteousness, according to the purity of my hands before his eyes.
25 Avec les miséricordieux, tu te montreras miséricordieux. Avec l'homme parfait, vous vous montrerez parfaite.
With the kind thou wilt show thyself kind; with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright;
26 Avec les purs, tu te montreras pur. Avec les tordus, vous vous montrerez astucieux.
With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the perverse thou wilt wage a contest.
27 Car tu sauveras le peuple affligé, mais les yeux arrogants, tu les feras tomber.
For thou wilt indeed save the afflicted people; but haughty eyes wilt thou bring down.
28 Car c'est toi qui allumeras ma lampe, Yahvé. Mon Dieu va éclairer mes ténèbres.
For thou wilt cause my light to shine: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 Car c'est par toi que j'avance dans une troupe. Par mon Dieu, je saute par-dessus un mur.
For [aided] by thee I run through a troop; and [helped] by my God I leap over a wall.
30 Quant à Dieu, sa voie est parfaite. La parole de Yahvé est éprouvée. Il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se réfugient en lui.
As for God, —his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a shield to all those that trust in him.
31 Car qui est Dieu, sinon Yahvé? Qui est un rocher, en dehors de notre Dieu,
For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock beside our God?
32 le Dieu qui m'arme de force, et rend mon chemin parfait?
He is the God that girdeth me with strength, and rendereth my way unobstructed.
33 Il rend mes pieds semblables à des pieds de cerf, et me place sur mes hauts lieux.
He maketh my feet like those of the hinds, and upon my high-places he causeth me to stand.
34 Il apprend à mes mains à faire la guerre, pour que mes bras fassent un arc de bronze.
He teacheth my hands for the war, so that a brazen bow is bent by my arms.
35 Tu m'as aussi donné le bouclier de ton salut. Ta main droite me soutient. Votre gentillesse m'a rendu grand.
And thou gavest me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand supported me: and thy meekness hath made me great.
36 Tu as élargi mes pas sous moi, Mes pieds n'ont pas glissé.
Thou enlargest my steps under me, so that my joints do not slip.
37 Je poursuivrai mes ennemis, et je les vaincrai. Je ne me détournerai pas tant qu'ils ne seront pas consommés.
I pursue my enemies, and overtake them; and I return not again till I have made an end of them.
38 Je les transpercerai, et ils ne pourront plus se relever. Ils tomberont sous mes pieds.
I crush them that they are not able to rise: they fall under my feet.
39 Car tu m'as armé de force pour le combat. Tu as soumis à moi ceux qui s'élevaient contre moi.
For thou hast girded me with strength for the war: thou subduest my opponents under me.
40 Tu as aussi fait en sorte que mes ennemis me tournent le dos, afin d'exterminer ceux qui me haïssent.
And my enemies thou causest to turn their back to me; and those that hate me, —that I may destroy them.
41 Ils ont crié, mais il n'y avait personne pour les sauver; même à Yahvé, mais il ne leur a pas répondu.
They cry, but there is none to help; unto the Lord, —but he answereth them not.
42 Puis je les ai écrasés comme la poussière devant le vent. Je les ai rejetés comme la boue des rues.
And I beat them small as the dust before the wind: like the dirt in the streets do I cast them out.
43 Tu m'as délivré de la convoitise du peuple. Tu as fait de moi le chef des nations. Un peuple que je n'ai pas connu me servira.
Thou deliverest me from the contests of the people; thou appointest me to be the head of nations: a people that I know not shall serve me.
44 Dès qu'ils entendront parler de moi, ils m'obéiront. Les étrangers se soumettront à moi.
As soon as their ear heareth they shall be obedient to me: the children of the stranger shall utter flattery unto me.
45 Les étrangers disparaîtront, et sortiront en tremblant de leurs forteresses.
The children of the stranger shall fade away, and come forth trembling out of their close places.
46 Yahvé est vivant! Béni soit mon rocher. Exalté soit le Dieu de mon salut,
The Lord liveth, and blessed be my Rock; and exalted be the God of my salvation;
47 même le Dieu qui exécute la vengeance pour moi, et soumet les peuples sous mes ordres.
The God that granteth me vengeance, and subdueth nations under me;
48 Il me sauve de mes ennemis. Oui, tu m'élèves au-dessus de ceux qui s'élèvent contre moi. Tu me délivres de l'homme violent.
That delivereth me from my enemies: also above my opponents thou liftest me up; thou deliverest me from the man of violence.
49 C'est pourquoi je te louerai, Yahvé, parmi les nations, et chanteront les louanges de ton nom.
Therefore will I give thanks unto thee among the nations, O Lord, and unto thy name will I sing praises, —
50 Il accorde une grande délivrance à son roi, et fait preuve de bonté envers ses oints, à David et à sa descendance, pour toujours.
[To him] that maketh great the salvation of his king, and who sheweth kindness to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for ever.
