Proverbes 5
1 Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse. Prêtez l'oreille à ma compréhension,
My son, attend unto my wisdom, incline thine ear to my understanding;
2 que vous puissiez garder la discrétion, pour que vos lèvres conservent la connaissance.
that thou mayest keep reflection, and that thy lips may preserve knowledge.
3 Car les lèvres d'une femme adultère dégouttent de miel. Sa bouche est plus lisse que de l'huile,
For the lips of the strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
4 mais à la fin elle est aussi amère que l'absinthe, et aussi tranchant qu'une épée à deux tranchants.
but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
6 Elle ne réfléchit pas à la manière de vivre. Ses chemins sont tortueux, et elle ne le sait pas.
Lest she should ponder the path of life, her ways wander, she knoweth not [whither].
7 Maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi. Ne t'écarte pas des paroles de ma bouche.
And now, children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Retire ton chemin loin d'elle. Ne vous approchez pas de la porte de sa maison,
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 de peur que tu ne donnes ton honneur à d'autres, et vos années à la cruelle;
lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
10 de peur que des étrangers ne fassent un festin de vos richesses, et vos travaux enrichissent la maison d'un autre homme.
lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and the fruits of thy toil [come] into the house of a stranger;
11 Tu gémiras à la fin de ta vie, quand ta chair et ton corps seront consumés,
and thou mourn in thine end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed;
12 et dire: « Comme j'ai haï l'instruction! et mon cœur a méprisé la réprimande.
and thou say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof!
13 Je n'ai pas obéi à la voix de mes maîtres, ni prêté l'oreille à ceux qui m'instruisaient!
and I have not hearkened unto the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to those that instructed me;
14 Je suis au bord de la ruine, parmi l'assemblée réunie. »
I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Buvez l'eau de votre propre citerne, de l'eau courante provenant de votre propre puits.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Si tes sources débordent dans les rues, des ruisseaux d'eau sur les places publiques?
Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways.
17 Qu'ils soient pour toi seul, pas pour les étrangers avec vous.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18 Que votre printemps soit béni. Réjouis-toi de la femme de ta jeunesse.
Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
19 Une biche aimante et un cerf gracieux- laisse ses seins te satisfaire à tout moment. Soyez toujours captivé par son amour.
As a lovely hind and a graceful roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: be thou ravished continually with her love.
20 Car pourquoi toi, mon fils, serais-tu captivé par une adultère? Pourquoi embrasser le sein d'un autre?
And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Car les voies de l'homme sont devant les yeux de Yahvé. Il examine tous ses chemins.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.
22 Les mauvaises actions des méchants le prennent au piège. Les cordes de son péché le retiennent fermement.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
23 Il mourra par manque d'instruction. Dans la grandeur de sa folie, il s'égarera.
He shall die for want of discipline; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
