Proverbes 29
1 Celui qui est souvent réprimandé et qui raidit son cou sera détruit soudainement, sans aucun remède.
A man often reproved, hardening the neck, Is suddenly broken, and there is no healing.
2 Quand les justes prospèrent, le peuple se réjouit; mais quand les méchants gouvernent, le peuple gémit.
In the multiplying of the righteous the people rejoice, And in the ruling of the wicked the people sigh.
3 Celui qui aime la sagesse fait la joie de son père; mais un compagnon de prostituées dilapide sa richesse.
A man loving wisdom rejoiceth his father, And a friend of harlots destroyeth wealth.
4 Le roi, par la justice, rend le pays stable, mais celui qui prend des pots-de-vin le démolit.
A king by judgment establisheth a land, And one receiving gifts throweth it down.
5 Un homme qui flatte son prochain déploie un filet pour ses pieds.
A man taking a portion above his neighbour, Spreadeth a net for his own steps.
6 L'homme mauvais est pris au piège par son péché, mais les justes peuvent chanter et se réjouir.
In the transgression of the evil [is] a snare, And the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7 Les justes se soucient de la justice pour les pauvres. Les méchants ne se soucient pas de la connaissance.
The righteous knoweth the plea of the poor, The wicked understandeth not knowledge.
8 Les moqueurs agitent une ville, mais les hommes sages détournent la colère.
Men of scorning ensnare a city, And the wise turn back anger.
9 Si un homme sage va au tribunal avec un homme insensé, le fou se met en colère ou se moque, et il n'y a pas de paix.
A wise man is judged by the foolish man, And he hath been angry, And he hath laughed, and there is no rest.
10 Les sanguinaires détestent les hommes intègres; et ils recherchent la vie des honnêtes gens.
Men of blood hate the perfect, And the upright seek his soul.
11 L'imbécile évacue toute sa colère, mais un homme sage se maîtrise.
A fool bringeth out all his mind, And the wise till afterwards restraineth it.
12 Si un dirigeant écoute les mensonges, tous ses fonctionnaires sont méchants.
A ruler who is attending to lying words, All his ministers [are] wicked.
13 Le pauvre et l'oppresseur ont ceci en commun: Yahvé donne la vue aux yeux des deux.
The poor and the man of frauds have met together, Jehovah is enlightening the eyes of them both.
14 Le roi qui juge équitablement les pauvres, son trône sera établi pour toujours.
a king that is judging truly the poor, His throne for ever is established.
15 La verge de la correction donne la sagesse, mais un enfant laissé à lui-même fait honte à sa mère.
A rod and reproof give wisdom, And a youth let away is shaming his mother.
16 Quand les méchants augmentent, le péché augmente; mais les justes verront leur chute.
In the multiplying of the wicked transgression multiplieth, And the righteous on their fall do look.
17 Corrige ton fils, et il te donnera la paix; oui, il apportera du plaisir à votre âme.
Chastise thy son, and he giveth thee comfort, Yea, he giveth delights to thy soul.
18 Là où il n'y a pas de révélation, le peuple se défait de toute contrainte; mais celui qui garde la loi est béni.
Without a Vision is a people made naked, And whoso is keeping the law, O his happiness!
19 Un serviteur ne peut pas être corrigé par des mots. Bien qu'il comprenne, il ne répond pas.
By words a servant is not instructed though he understand, And there is nothing answering.
20 Vois-tu un homme qui se hâte dans ses paroles? Il y a plus d'espoir pour un fou que pour lui.
Thou hast seen a man hasty in his words! More hope of a fool than of him.
21 Celui qui dorlote son serviteur dès sa jeunesse le fera devenir un fils à la fin.
Whoso is bringing up his servant delicately, from youth, [At] his latter end also he is continuator.
22 Un homme en colère suscite des querelles, et un homme courroucé abonde en péchés.
An angry man stirreth up contention, And a furious man is multiplying transgression.
23 L'orgueil d'un homme l'abaisse, mais celui qui a l'esprit humble gagne l'honneur.
The pride of man humbleth him, And humility of spirit upholdeth honour.
24 Celui qui est complice d'un voleur est l'ennemi de sa propre âme. Il prête serment, mais n'ose pas témoigner.
Whoso is sharing with a thief is hating his own soul, Execration he heareth, and telleth not.
25 La crainte de l'homme s'avère être un piège, mais celui qui met sa confiance en Yahvé est en sécurité.
Fear of man causeth a snare, And the confident in Jehovah is set on high.
26 Beaucoup cherchent la faveur du chef, mais la justice d'un homme vient de Yahvé.
Many are seeking the face of a ruler, And from Jehovah [is] the judgment of each.
27 L'homme malhonnête déteste les justes, et ceux qui sont droits dans leurs voies détestent les méchants.
An abomination to the righteous [is] the perverse man, And an abomination to the wicked [is] the upright in the way!
