Proverbes 27
1 Ne vous vantez pas du lendemain; car vous ne savez pas ce qu'un jour peut apporter.
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
2 Qu'un autre homme te loue, et pas votre propre bouche; un étranger, et non vos propres lèvres.
Let someone else praise you and not your own mouth; a stranger and not your own lips.
3 Une pierre est lourde, et le sable est un fardeau; mais la provocation d'un idiot est plus lourde que les deux.
Consider the heaviness of a stone and the weight of sand— the provocation of a fool is heavier than both.
4 La colère est cruelle, et la colère est écrasante; mais qui est capable de résister à la jalousie?
There is the cruelty of rage and the flood of anger, but who is able to stand before jealousy?
5 Mieux vaut une réprimande ouverte que l'amour caché.
Better is an open rebuke than hidden love.
6 Les blessures d'un ami sont fidèles, bien que les baisers d'un ennemi soient profonds.
Faithful are the wounds caused by a friend, but an enemy may kiss you profusely.
7 Une âme rassasiée a horreur du rayon de miel; mais pour une âme affamée, toute chose amère est douce.
A person who has eaten to the full rejects even a honeycomb, but to the hungry person, every bitter thing is sweet.
8 Comme un oiseau qui s'éloigne de son nid, ainsi est un homme qui erre loin de sa maison.
Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who strays from where he lives.
9 Le parfum et l'encens apportent de la joie au cœur; tout comme les conseils sérieux de l'ami d'un homme.
Perfume and incense make the heart rejoice, but the sweetness of a friend comes from his sincere counsel.
10 N'abandonne pas ton ami et l'ami de ton père. N'allez pas chez votre frère le jour de votre catastrophe. Un voisin proche vaut mieux qu'un frère éloigné.
Do not forsake your friend and your friend's father, and do not go to your brother's house on the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is nearby than a brother who is far away.
11 Sois sage, mon fils, et apporte la joie dans mon cœur, alors je pourrai répondre à mon tourmenteur.
Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice; then I will give back an answer to the one who mocks me.
12 L'homme prudent voit le danger et se réfugie; mais les simples passent, et en souffrent.
A prudent man sees trouble and hides himself, but the naive people go on and suffer because of it.
13 Prenez son vêtement quand il met en gage un étranger. Tenez-le pour une femme rebelle!
Take a garment of one who has put up security for a stranger, and hold it in pledge when he puts up security for an immoral woman.
14 Celui qui bénit son prochain avec une voix forte, tôt le matin, il sera pris comme une malédiction par lui.
Whoever gives his neighbor a blessing with a loud voice early in the morning, that blessing will be considered to be a curse!
15 Une goutte continue un jour de pluie et une épouse contestataire se ressemblent:
A quarreling wife is like the constant dripping on a rainy day;
16 La retenir, c'est comme retenir le vent, ou comme de saisir de l'huile dans sa main droite.
restraining her is like restraining the wind, or trying to catch oil in your right hand.
17 Le fer aiguise le fer; ainsi un homme aiguise le visage de son ami.
Iron sharpens iron; in the same way, a man sharpens his friend.
18 Celui qui soigne le figuier mangera son fruit. Celui qui s'occupe de son maître sera honoré.
The one who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and the one who protects his master will be honored.
19 Comme l'eau reflète un visage, donc le cœur d'un homme reflète l'homme.
Just as water reflects a person's face, so a person's heart reflects the person.
20 Sheol et Abaddon ne sont jamais satisfaits; et les yeux d'un homme ne sont jamais satisfaits. (Sheol h7585)
Just as Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied, so a man's eyes are never satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
21 Le creuset est pour l'argent, et le fourneau pour l'or; mais l'homme est raffiné par ses louanges.
A crucible is for silver and a furnace is for gold; and a person is tested when he is praised.
22 Bien que tu broies un fou dans un mortier avec un pilon, avec le grain, mais sa folie ne lui sera pas enlevée.
Even if you crush a fool with the pestle—along with the grain— yet his foolishness will not leave him.
23 Connaissez bien l'état de vos troupeaux, et faites attention à vos troupeaux,
Be sure you know the condition of your flocks and be concerned about your herds,
24 car les richesses ne sont pas éternelles, et la couronne ne perdure pas à travers les générations.
for wealth is not forever. Does a crown endure for all generations?
25 On enlève le foin, et la nouvelle pousse apparaît, les herbes des collines sont rassemblées.
You should know when the hay is gone and the new growth appears, and the time when the grass from the hills is gathered in.
26 Les agneaux servent à te vêtir, et les chèvres sont le prix d'un champ.
Those lambs will provide your clothing and the goats will provide the price of the field.
27 Il yaura du lait de chèvre en abondance pour votre nourriture, pour la nourriture de votre famille, et pour la nourriture de vos servantes.
There will be goats' milk for your food—the food for your household— and nourishment for your servant girls.
