Proverbes 15
1 Une réponse douce détourne la colère, mais un mot dur suscite la colère.
A soft answer turneth away fury; but a mortifying word stirreth up anger.
2 La langue des sages fait l'éloge de la connaissance, mais la bouche des fous fait jaillir la folie.
The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge acceptable; but the mouth of fools sputtereth out folly.
3 Les yeux de Yahvé sont partout, qui veille sur le mal et le bien.
In every place are the eyes of the Lord, looking on the bad and the good.
4 La langue douce est un arbre de vie, mais la tromperie en elle écrase l'esprit.
A healing [word] of the tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a breach to the spirit.
5 L'insensé méprise la correction de son père, mais celui qui écoute la réprimande fait preuve de prudence.
A fool contemneth the correction of his father; but he that observeth admonition will become prudent.
6 Dans la maison des justes, il y a beaucoup de trésors, mais le revenu des méchants apporte le malheur.
In the house of the righteous there is much treasure; but in the income of the wicked is trouble.
7 Les lèvres des sages répandent la connaissance; mais pas avec le cœur des fous.
The lips of the wise scatter knowledge; but the heart of fools is not reliable.
8 Le sacrifice offert par les méchants est une abomination pour Yahvé, mais la prière des hommes intègres est son plaisir.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination of the Lord: but, the prayer of the upright [obtaineth] his favor.
9 La voie des méchants est une abomination pour Yahvé, mais il aime celui qui poursuit la justice.
An abomination of the Lord is the way of the wicked; but him that pursueth righteousness will he love.
10 Il y a une discipline sévère pour celui qui abandonne le chemin. Celui qui déteste la réprimande mourra.
An evil correction is [destined] for him that forsaketh the [right] path; he that hateth admonition will die.
11 Le séjour des morts et Abaddon sont devant Yahvé- combien plus encore le cœur des enfants des hommes! (Sheol h7585)
The nether world and corruption are open before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Le moqueur n'aime pas qu'on le reprenne; il n'ira pas chez les sages.
A scorner loveth not that one should admonish him: unto the wise doth he not go.
13 Un cœur joyeux fait un visage joyeux, mais un cœur douloureux brise l'esprit.
A merry heart cheereth up the countenance; but when the heart feeleth pain the spirit is depressed.
14 Le cœur de celui qui a de l'intelligence cherche la connaissance, mais la bouche des fous se nourrit de folie.
The heart of the man of understanding seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
15 Tous les jours des affligés sont misérables, mais celui qui a le cœur joyeux jouit d'un festin continuel.
All the days of the afflicted are evil; but he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.
16 Mieux vaut peu, avec la crainte de Yahvé, que de grands trésors avec des problèmes.
Better is little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure and confusion therewith.
17 Mieux vaut un dîner d'herbes, où se trouve l'amour, qu'un veau engraissé par la haine.
Better is an allowance of herbs when love is there, than a stall-fed ox and hatred therewith.
18 Un homme furieux suscite la discorde, mais celui qui est lent à la colère apaise les querelles.
A man of fury stirreth up strife; but he that is slow to anger assuageth contention.
19 La voie du paresseux est comme un champ d'épines, mais le chemin des hommes droits est une autoroute.
The way of the slothful man is like a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is a levelled [road].
20 Un fils sage fait la joie d'un père, mais un homme insensé méprise sa mère.
A wise son causeth his father to rejoice; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 La folie est une joie pour celui qui est dépourvu de sagesse, mais un homme intelligent garde son chemin droit.
Folly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding walketh straight forward.
22 Là où il n'y a pas de conseil, les plans échouent; mais ils sont établis dans une multitude de conseillers.
Plans are frustrated without consultation; but through a multitude of counsellors canst thou maintain thyself.
23 La joie vient à l'homme par la réponse de sa bouche. Comme il est bon d'avoir un mot au bon moment!
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word [spoken] at the proper time, how good is it!
24 Le chemin de la vie mène vers le haut pour les sages, pour l'empêcher de descendre au séjour des morts. (Sheol h7585)
The path of life [leadeth] upward for the intelligent, in order that he may avoid the nether world beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 Yahvé déracinera la maison des orgueilleux, mais il gardera intactes les frontières de la veuve.
The Lord, will tear down the house of the proud; but he will set up firmly the boundary [-stone] of the widow.
26 Yahvé déteste les pensées des méchants, mais les pensées des purs sont agréables.
An abomination of the Lord are the thoughts of the bad man; but pleasant speeches are pure [before him].
27 Celui qui est avide de gain trouble sa propre maison, mais celui qui déteste les pots-de-vin vivra.
He that is greedy after gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts will live.
28 Le cœur du juste pèse les réponses, mais la bouche des méchants jaillit le mal.
The heart of the righteous reflecteth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked sputtereth out evil things.
29 Yahvé est loin des méchants, mais il entend la prière des justes.
The Lord is far from the wicked; but the prayer of the righteous doth he hear.
30 La lumière des yeux réjouit le cœur. Les bonnes nouvelles donnent de la santé aux os.
[What is pleasant to] the light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: a good report giveth marrow to the bones.
31 L'oreille qui écoute la réprimande vit, et sera à la maison parmi les sages.
The ear that heareth the admonition of life will ever abide in the midst of the wise.
32 Celui qui refuse la correction méprise sa propre âme, mais celui qui écoute la réprimande acquiert la compréhension.
He that rejecteth correction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth admonition acquireth intelligence.
33 La crainte de Yahvé enseigne la sagesse. Avant l'honneur, il y a l'humilité.
The fear of the Lord is the correction for wisdom; and before honor there must come humility.
