1 Les chefs de famille des fils de Galaad, fils de Makir, fils de Manassé, des familles des fils de Joseph, s'approchèrent et parlèrent devant Moïse et devant les princes, les chefs de famille des enfants d'Israël.
And the heads of the fathers of the family of the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spoke before Moses, and before the rulers, the heads of the fathers of the sons of Israel.
2 Ils dirent: « Yahvé a ordonné à mon seigneur de donner le pays en héritage par tirage au sort aux enfants d'Israël. Mon seigneur a reçu l'ordre de Yahvé de donner l'héritage de Zelophehad, notre frère, à ses filles.
And they said, Jehovah commanded my lord to give the land for inheritance by lot to the sons of Israel. And my lord was commanded by Jehovah to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.
3 Si elles se marient à l'un des fils des autres tribus des enfants d'Israël, leur héritage sera retranché de l'héritage de nos pères et ajouté à l'héritage de la tribu à laquelle elles appartiendront. Il sera ainsi retranché du lot de notre héritage.
And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the sons of Israel, then their inheritance will be taken away from the inheritance of our fathers, and will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they shall belong. So it will be taken away from the lot of our inheritance.
4 Quand viendra le jubilé des enfants d'Israël, leur héritage sera ajouté à l'héritage de la tribu à laquelle ils appartiendront. Ainsi leur héritage sera retranché de l'héritage de la tribu de nos pères. »
And when the jubilee of the sons of Israel shall be, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they shall belong. So their inheritance will be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.
5 Moïse donna aux enfants d'Israël un ordre conforme à la parole de Yahvé, en disant: « La tribu des fils de Joseph dit ce qui est juste.
And Moses commanded the sons of Israel according to the word of Jehovah, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph speak right.
6 Voici ce que l'Éternel ordonne pour les filles de Zelophehad: Qu'elles se marient à qui bon leur semble, mais elles se marieront dans la famille de la tribu de leur père.
This is the thing which Jehovah commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them be married to whom they think best, only into the family of the tribe of their father shall they be married.
7 Ainsi, aucun héritage des enfants d'Israël ne passera d'une tribu à l'autre, car les enfants d'Israël conserveront tous l'héritage de la tribu de leurs pères.
So no inheritance of the sons of Israel shall remove from tribe to tribe, for the sons of Israel shall cling each one to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
8 Toute fille qui possédera un héritage dans une tribu des enfants d'Israël sera la femme d'un membre de la famille de la tribu de son père, afin que les enfants d'Israël possèdent chacun l'héritage de leurs pères.
And every daughter, who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the sons of Israel, shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the sons of Israel may possess every man the inheritance of his fathers.
9 Ainsi, aucun héritage ne passera d'une tribu à une autre tribu, car les tribus des enfants d'Israël garderont chacune leur héritage.'"
So no inheritance shall move from one tribe to another tribe, for the tribes of the sons of Israel shall cling each one to his own inheritance.
10 Les filles de Tselophehad firent ce que l'Éternel avait ordonné à Moïse:
Even as Jehovah commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad,
11 car Mahla, Tirza, Hogla, Milca et Noé, filles de Tselophehad, furent mariées aux fils des frères de leur père.
for Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophedad, were married to their father's brothers' sons.
12 Elles furent mariées dans les familles des fils de Manassé, fils de Joseph. Leur héritage resta dans la tribu de la famille de leur père.
They were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.
13 Tels sont les commandements et les ordonnances que Yahvé a prescrits par Moïse aux enfants d'Israël dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, à Jéricho.
These are the commandments and the ordinances which Jehovah commanded by Moses to the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.
