1 L'Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Donne cet ordre aux enfants d`Israël, et dis-leur: Lorsque vous entrerez dans le pays de Canaan, le pays qui vous sera donné en héritage, le pays de Canaan, selon ses limites,
Command the children of Israel, and then shalt say to them: When you are entered into the land of Chanaan, and it shall be fallen into your possession by lot, it shall be bounded by these limits:
3 votre quart méridional partira du désert de Tsin, le long du côté d`Édom, et votre limite méridionale partira de l`extrémité de la mer Salée, à l`orient.
The south side shall begin from the wilderness of Sin, which is by Edom: and shall have the most salt sea for its furthest limits eastward:
4 Votre frontière tournera au sud de la montée d'Akrabbim, et passera à Tsin; elle passera au sud de Kadès Barnea; de là, elle ira à Hazar Addar, et passera à Azmon.
Which limits shall go round on the south side by the ascent of the Scorpion and so into Senna, and reach toward the south as far as Cadesbarne, from whence the frontiers shall go out to the town called Adar, and shall reach as far as Asemona.
5 La frontière tournera depuis Azmon vers le ruisseau d'Égypte, et s'arrêtera à la mer.
And the limits shall fetch a compass from Asemona to the torrent of Egypt, and shall end in the shore of the great sea.
6 "'Pour la frontière occidentale, tu auras la grande mer et son bord. Ce sera ta frontière occidentale.
And the west side shall begin from the great sea, and the same shall be the end thereof.
7 « Voici quelle sera votre limite septentrionale: depuis la grande mer, vous tracerez pour vous la montagne de Hor.
But toward the north side the borders shall begin from the great sea, reaching to the most high mountain,
8 De la montagne de Hor, vous marquerez l'entrée de Hamath, et la frontière passera par Zedad.
From which they shall come to Emath, as far as the borders of Sedada:
9 Puis la frontière ira jusqu'à Ziphron, et se terminera à Hazar Enan. Ce sera votre frontière nord.
And the limits shall go as far as Zephrona, and the village of Enan. These shall be the borders on the north side.
10 Tu délimiteras ta frontière orientale de Hazar Enan à Shepham.
From thence they shall mark out the bounds towards the east side from the village of Enan unto Sephama.
11 La frontière descendra de Shepham à Riblah, à l'est d'Ain. La limite descendra et s'étendra jusqu'au bord de la mer de Chinnereth, à l'est.
And from Sephama the bounds shall go down to Rebla over against the fountain of Daphnis: from thence they shall come eastward to the sea of Cenereth,
12 La frontière descendra jusqu'au Jourdain et se terminera à la mer Salée. Tel sera votre pays, selon les frontières qui l'entourent. »
And shall reach as far as the Jordan, and at the last shall be closed in by the most salt sea. This shall be your land with its borders round about.
13 Moïse donna cet ordre aux enfants d'Israël: Voici le pays dont vous hériterez par le sort, et que l'Éternel a ordonné de donner aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu.
And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: This shall be the land which you shall possess by lot, and which the Lord hath commanded to be given to the nine tribes, and to the half tribe.
14 La tribu des fils de Ruben, selon les maisons de leurs pères, la tribu des fils de Gad, selon les maisons de leurs pères, et la demi-tribu de Manassé, ont reçu leur héritage.
For the tribe of the children of Ruben by their families, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the number of their kindreds, and half of the tribe of Manasses,
15 Les deux tribus et la demi-tribu ont reçu leur héritage au-delà du Jourdain, à Jéricho, à l'est, vers le soleil levant. »
That is, two tribes and a half, have received their portion beyond the Jordan over against Jericho at the east side.
16 Yahvé parla à Moïse, et dit:
And the Lord said to Moses:
17 Voici les noms des hommes qui vous partageront le pays en héritage: Le prêtre Éléazar et Josué, fils de Nun.
These are the names of the men, that shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Josue the son of Nun,
18 Tu prendras un prince de chaque tribu, pour partager le pays en héritage.
And one prince of every tribe,
19 Voici les noms de ces hommes: Pour la tribu de Juda: Caleb, fils de Jephunné.
Whose names are these: Of the tribe of Juda, Caleb the son of Jephone.
20 Pour la tribu des fils de Siméon: Shemuel, fils d'Ammihud.
Of the tribe of Simeon, Samuel the son of Ammiud.
21 pour la tribu de Benjamin: Elidad, fils de Chislon
Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chaselon.
22 pour la tribu des fils de Dan: un prince, Bukki, fils de Jogli
Of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bocci the son of Jogli.
23 Pour les fils de Joseph: de la tribu des fils de Manassé, le prince Hanniel, fils d'Ephod.
Of the children of Joseph of the tribe of Manasses, Hanniel the son of Ephod.
24 pour la tribu des fils d'Éphraïm: le prince Kemuel, fils de Shiphtan
Of the tribe of Ephraim, Camuel the son of Sephtan.
25 pour la tribu des fils de Zabulon: le prince Elizaphan, fils de Parnach
Of the tribe of Zabulon, Elisaphan the son of Pharnach.
26 pour la tribu des fils d'Issacar, le prince Paltiel, fils d'Azzan.
Of the tribe of Issachar, Phaltiel the prince, the son of Ozan.
27 pour la tribu des fils d'Aser, le prince Ahihud, fils de Shelomi
Of the tribe of Aser, Ahiud the son of Salomi.
28 pour la tribu des fils de Nephthali, le prince Pedahel, fils d'Ammihud ».
Of the tribe of Nephtali: Phedael the son of Ammiud.
29 Tels sont ceux à qui Yahvé ordonna de faire le partage de l'héritage des enfants d'Israël dans le pays de Canaan.
These are they whom the Lord hath commanded to divide the land of Chanaan to the children of Israel.
