Nahum 2
1 Celui qui met en pièces est venu contre toi. Gardez la forteresse! Surveillez le chemin! Fortifie ta taille! Fortifie puissamment ta puissance!
He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make [thy] loins strong, fortify [thy] power mightily.
2 Car Yahvé rétablit l'excellence de Jacob comme l'excellence d'Israël, car les destructeurs les ont détruits et ont ruiné leurs pampres.
For the LORD hath turned away the excellence of Jacob, as the excellence of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.
3 Le bouclier de ses vaillants hommes est rouge. Les vaillants hommes sont vêtus d'écarlate. Les chars étincellent d'acier au jour de sa préparation, et les lances de pin sont brandies.
The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men [are] in scarlet: the chariots [shall be] with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir-trees shall be terribly shaken.
4 Les chars se déchaînent dans les rues. Ils vont et viennent sur les chemins. Leur aspect est semblable à des torches. Ils courent comme les éclairs.
The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.
5 Il convoque ses troupes d'élite. Elles trébuchent sur leur chemin. Ils se précipitent vers son mur, et le bouclier protecteur est mis en place.
He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defense shall be prepared.
6 Les portes des fleuves sont ouvertes, et le palais est dissous.
The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
7 C'est un décret: elle est découverte, elle est emportée; et ses serviteurs gémissent comme avec la voix des colombes, en se frappant la poitrine.
And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead [her] as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.
8 Mais Ninive est depuis longtemps comme une mare d'eau, et ils fuient. Ils crient: « Arrête, arrête! », mais personne ne se retourne.
But Nineveh [is] of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, [shall they cry]; but none shall look back.
9 Prenez le butin de l'argent. Prenez le butin de l'or, car il n'y a pas de fin de trésor, Une abondance de tout objet précieux.
Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for [there is] no end of the store [and] glory out of all the pleasant furniture.
10 Elle est vide, nulle et sans valeur. Le cœur se fond, les genoux s'entrechoquent, le corps et le visage sont devenus pâles.
She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain [is] in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.
11 Où est la fosse des lions, et le repaire des lionceaux, où le lion et la lionne se promenaient avec les lionceaux, et où personne ne les effrayait?
Where [is] the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion, [even] the old lion, walked, [and] the lion's whelp, and none made [them] afraid?
12 Le lion a déchiré en morceaux de quoi nourrir ses petits, il a étranglé des proies pour ses lionnes, il a rempli ses cavernes de viande tuée et ses tanières de proies.
The lion tore in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.
13 « Voici, j'en veux à toi, dit l'Éternel des armées, et je brûlerai ses chars dans la fumée, et l'épée dévorera tes lionceaux; j'exterminerai ta proie de la terre, et la voix de tes messagers ne sera plus entendue. »
Behold, I [am] against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
