Matthieu 4
1 Puis Jésus fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert pour être tenté par le diable.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 Comme il avait jeûné quarante jours et quarante nuits, il eut ensuite faim.
When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.
3 Le tentateur s'approcha et lui dit: « Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, ordonne que ces pierres deviennent des pains. »
The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 Mais il répondit: « Il est écrit: L'homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu. »
But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’”
5 Alors le diable le conduisit dans la ville sainte. Il le plaça sur le pinacle du temple,
Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 et lui dit: « Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas, car il est écrit, « Il commandera à ses anges à votre sujet, » et, C'est sur leurs mains qu'ils te porteront, afin que ton pied ne se heurte pas à une pierre. »
and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you do not dash your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jésus lui dit: « Il est encore écrit: « Tu ne mettras pas le Seigneur, ton Dieu, à l'épreuve ».
Jesus said to him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not test the Lord, your God.’”
8 Le diable l'emmena de nouveau sur une montagne très élevée et lui montra tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire.
Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
9 Il lui dit: « Je te donnerai toutes ces choses, si tu te prosternes et si tu m'adores. »
He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”
10 Alors Jésus lui dit: « Va derrière moi, Satan! Car il est écrit: « Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui. »
Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”
11 Alors le diable le quitta, et voici que des anges vinrent et le servirent.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.
12 Or, lorsque Jésus apprit que Jean avait été livré, il se retira en Galilée.
Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.
13 Laissant Nazareth, il vint s'établir à Capernaüm, qui est près de la mer, dans la région de Zabulon et de Nephtali,
Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Ésaïe, le prophète, en ces termes,
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
15 « Le pays de Zabulon et le pays de Nephtali, vers la mer, au-delà du Jourdain, La Galilée des gentils,
“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 le peuple qui était assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière; à ceux qui étaient assis dans la région et l'ombre de la mort, pour eux la lumière s'est levée. »
the people who sat in darkness saw a great light; to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.”
17 Dès lors, Jésus commença à prêcher et à dire: « Repentez-vous! Car le Royaume des cieux est tout proche. »
From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
18 En marchant le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères: Simon, qu'on appelle Pierre, et André, son frère, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs.
Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 Il leur dit: « Venez après moi, et je vous ferai devenir pêcheurs d'hommes. »
He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”
20 Aussitôt, ils laissèrent leurs filets et le suivirent.
They immediately left their nets and followed him.
21 En partant de là, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, dans la barque avec Zébédée, leur père, qui raccommodaient leurs filets. Il les appela.
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.
22 Aussitôt, ils quittèrent la barque et leur père, et le suivirent.
They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.
23 Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée, enseignant dans les synagogues, prêchant la Bonne Nouvelle du Royaume, et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple.
Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
24 La nouvelle de sa venue se répandit dans toute la Syrie. On lui amenait tous les malades, atteints de maladies et de tourments divers, possédés de démons, épileptiques et paralytiques; et il les guérissait.
The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
25 Des foules nombreuses, venues de Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée et d'au-delà du Jourdain, le suivaient.
Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
