Matthieu 25
1 « Alors le royaume des cieux sera semblable à dix vierges qui, ayant pris leur lampe, allèrent à la rencontre de l'époux.
"Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2 Cinq d'entre elles étaient folles, et cinq étaient sages.
Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3 Les insensées, en prenant leurs lampes, n'ont pas pris d'huile avec elles,
For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4 mais les sages ont pris de l'huile dans leurs vases avec leurs lampes.
but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 Pendant que l'époux tardait, elles s'assoupissaient et dormaient toutes.
Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 Mais, à minuit, on cria: « Voici! Voici l'époux qui vient. Sortez à sa rencontre!
But at midnight there was a cry, 'Look. The bridegroom. Come out to meet him.'
7 Alors toutes les vierges se levèrent et préparèrent leurs lampes.
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 Les folles dirent aux sages: Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes s'éteignent.
The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
9 Mais les sages répondirent: « Et s'il n'y en a pas assez pour nous et pour vous? Allez plutôt chez ceux qui vendent, et achetez pour vous.
But the wise answered, saying, 'No, there will not be enough for us and you. Go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10 Pendant qu'elles s'en allaient acheter, l'époux arriva; celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui au festin des noces, et la porte fut fermée.
While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.
11 Ensuite, les autres vierges vinrent aussi, disant: « Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous ».
Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'
12 Mais il répondit: « En vérité, je vous le dis, je ne vous connais pas.
But he answered, 'Truly I tell you, I do not know you.'
13 Veillez donc, car vous ne connaissez ni le jour ni l'heure où le Fils de l'homme va venir.
Watch therefore, for you do not know the day nor the hour.
14 « Car il en est comme d'un homme qui, se rendant dans un autre pays, a appelé ses propres serviteurs et leur a confié ses biens.
"For it is like a man, going on a journey, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them.
15 Il donna à l'un cinq talents, à un autre deux, à un autre encore un, à chacun selon ses capacités. Puis il se mit en route.
To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
16 Aussitôt, celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents alla commercer avec eux, et gagna cinq autres talents.
Immediately the one who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17 De même, celui qui avait reçu les deux talents en gagna deux autres.
In like manner he who got the two gained another two.
18 Mais celui qui avait reçu un talent s'en alla, creusa dans la terre et cacha l'argent de son maître.
But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
19 Longtemps après, le maître de ces serviteurs vint et régla ses comptes avec eux.
"Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them.
20 Celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents vint apporter cinq autres talents, en disant: « Seigneur, tu m'as livré cinq talents. Voici que j'ai gagné cinq autres talents en plus d'eux'.
And he who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. See, I have gained another five talents.'
21 Son maître lui dit: « C'est bien, bon et fidèle serviteur. Tu as été fidèle en peu de choses, je vais te confier beaucoup de choses. Entre dans la joie de ton maître.
"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
22 « Celui qui a reçu les deux talents s'est approché et a dit: « Seigneur, tu m'as remis deux talents. Voici que j'ai gagné deux autres talents en plus d'eux'.
"And he also who had the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. See, I have gained another two talents.'
23 Son maître lui dit: « C'est bien, serviteur bon et fidèle. Tu as été fidèle pour peu de choses. Je vais te confier beaucoup de choses. Entre dans la joie de ton maître.
"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
24 Celui qui avait reçu un talent s'approcha et dit: « Seigneur, je savais que tu es un homme dur, qui moissonne là où il n'a pas semé, et qui rassemble là où il n'a pas dispersé.
"He also who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.
25 J'ai eu peur, et je suis allé cacher ton talent dans la terre. Voici que tu as ce qui t'appartient.
I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. See, you have what is yours.'
26 « Mais son maître lui répondit: « Serviteur méchant et paresseux. Tu savais que je moissonne où je n'ai pas semé, et que j'amasse où je n'ai pas dispersé.
"But his lord answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter.
27 Tu aurais donc dû déposer mon argent chez les banquiers, et à mon retour, j'aurais reçu le mien avec un intérêt.
You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
28 Ôtez-lui donc le talent et donnez-le à celui qui a les dix talents.
Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29 Car on donnera à celui qui a, et il aura l'abondance, mais à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il a.
For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who does not have, even that which he has will be taken away.
30 Jetez le serviteur inutile dans les ténèbres du dehors, où il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.''
Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.'
31 « Mais quand le Fils de l'homme viendra dans sa gloire, et tous les saints anges avec lui, alors il s'assiéra sur le trône de sa gloire.
"But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.
32 Toutes les nations seront rassemblées devant lui, et il les séparera les unes des autres, comme un berger sépare les brebis des boucs.
Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 Il placera les brebis à sa droite, mais les boucs à sa gauche.
He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Alors le Roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite: « Venez, les bénis de mon Père, recevez en héritage le Royaume qui vous a été préparé dès la fondation du monde.
Then the King will tell those on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
35 Car j'ai eu faim et vous m'avez donné à manger. J'avais soif et vous m'avez donné à boire. J'étais un étranger et vous m'avez accueilli.
for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in.
36 J'étais nu, et vous m'avez habillé. J'étais malade et vous m'avez visité. J'étais en prison et vous êtes venus à moi ».
I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.'
37 Alors les justes lui répondront: « Seigneur, quand t'avons-nous vu avoir faim et te nourrir, ou avoir soif et te donner à boire?
"Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?
38 Quand t'avons-nous vu étranger et t'avons-nous accueilli, ou nu et t'avons-nous vêtu?
When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?
39 Quand t'avons-nous vu malade ou en prison, et sommes-nous venus à toi?
When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?'
40 Le roi leur répondra: « Je vous le dis en vérité, parce que vous l'avez fait à l'un de ces plus petits de mes frères, c'est à moi que vous l'avez fait ».
"The King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'
41 Puis il dira aussi à ceux qui seront à sa gauche: « Retirez-vous de moi, maudits, dans le feu éternel qui a été préparé pour le diable et ses anges; (aiōnios g166)
Then he will say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; (aiōnios g166)
42 car j'ai eu faim, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à boire;
for I was hungry, and you did not give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;
43 j'étais étranger, et vous ne m'avez pas recueilli; nu, et vous ne m'avez pas vêtu; malade, et en prison, et vous ne m'avez pas visité ».
I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; naked, and you did not clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.'
44 « Ils répondront aussi en disant: « Seigneur, quand t'avons-nous vu avoir faim, ou avoir soif, ou être étranger, ou être nu, ou malade, ou en prison, et ne t'avons-nous pas secouru? ».
"Then they will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?'
45 « Alors il leur répondra: Je vous le dis en vérité, parce que vous ne l'avez pas fait à l'un de ces plus petits, c'est à moi que vous ne l'avez pas fait.
"Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.'
