Matthieu 24
1 Jésus sortit du temple, et se mit en route. Ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui pour lui montrer les bâtiments du temple.
And Jesus passed out of the temple to go away: and his disciples came to him, showing him the structure of the temple.
2 Mais il leur répondit: « Vous voyez toutes ces choses, n'est-ce pas? En vérité, je vous le dis, il ne restera pas ici pierre sur pierre qui ne soit renversée. »
And he said to them: See ye not all these? Verily I say to you, There will not be left here a stone upon a stone, that is not demolished.
3 Comme il était assis sur le mont des Oliviers, les disciples s'approchèrent de lui en privé, et dirent: « Dis-nous, quand cela arrivera-t-il? Quel est le signe de ton avènement et de la fin du monde? » (aiōn g165)
And as Jesus sat on the mount of Olives, his disciples came, and said between themselves and him: Tell us when these things are to be; and what will be the sign of thy coming, and of the consummation of the world. (aiōn g165)
4 Jésus leur répondit: « Prenez garde que personne ne vous égare.
Jesus answered and said to them: Take heed, that no one deceive you.
5 Car plusieurs viendront en mon nom, disant: « Je suis le Christ », et ils égareront beaucoup de gens.
For many will come in my name, and will say, I am the Messiah: and they will deceive many.
6 Vous entendrez parler de guerres et de rumeurs de guerres. Veillez à ne pas vous troubler, car tout cela doit arriver, mais la fin n'est pas encore venue.
And ye are to hear of conflicts, and the rumor of battles. See that ye be not disquieted: for all these things must come; but the consummation is not yet.
7 Car une nation s'élèvera contre une nation, et un royaume contre un royaume; et il y aura des famines, des pestes et des tremblements de terre en divers lieux.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.
8 Mais toutes ces choses sont le commencement des douleurs de l'enfantement.
But all these are only the commencement of sorrows.
9 « Alors ils te livreront à l'oppression et te feront mourir. Vous serez haïs de toutes les nations, à cause de mon nom.
And they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will kill you: and ye will be hated by all nations, on account of my name.
10 Alors beaucoup trébucheront, se livreront les uns aux autres, et se haïront.
Then many will be stumbled: and they will hate one another, and will betray one another.
11 Plusieurs faux prophètes s'élèveront et égareront beaucoup de gens.
And many false prophets will rise up; and they will deceive many.
12 Parce que l'iniquité se multipliera, l'amour de beaucoup se refroidira.
And on account of the abounding of iniquity, the love of many will decline.
13 Mais celui qui persévérera jusqu'à la fin sera sauvé.
But he that shall persevere to the end, will have life.
14 Cette Bonne Nouvelle du Royaume sera prêchée dans le monde entier, en témoignage à toutes les nations, et alors viendra la fin.
And this announcement of the kingdom shall be published in all the world, for a testimony to all nations: and then will come the consummation.
15 « Lorsque donc vous verrez l'abomination de la désolation, dont a parlé le prophète Daniel, se dresser dans le lieu saint (que le lecteur comprenne),
And when ye see the abominable sign of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place; then let the reader consider;
16 que ceux qui sont en Judée fuient dans les montagnes.
and then let them who are in Judaea, flee to the mountain:
17 Que celui qui est sur le toit ne descende pas pour enlever les choses qui sont dans sa maison.
and let him who is on the roof, not come down to take what is in his house:
18 Que celui qui est dans les champs ne revienne pas pour prendre ses vêtements.
and let him who is in the field, not return back to take his clothing.
19 Mais malheur aux femmes enceintes et aux mères qui allaitent en ces jours-là!
But woe to those with child, and to them that are nursing, in those days.
20 Priez pour que votre fuite ne se fasse pas en hiver ni un jour de sabbat,
And pray ye, that your flight be not in winter, or on the sabbath.
21 car alors il y aura de grandes souffrances, telles qu'il n'y en a pas eu depuis le commencement du monde jusqu'à maintenant, non, et qu'il n'y en aura jamais.
For there will then be great distress, such as hath not been from the commencement of the world, until now, and will not be.
22 Si ces jours n'avaient été abrégés, aucune chair n'aurait été sauvée. Mais, à cause des élus, ces jours seront abrégés.
And unless those days should be cut short, no flesh would remain alive. But, for the elect's sake, those days will be cut short.
23 Si quelqu'un vous dit: « Voici le Christ » ou « Voilà le Christ », ne le croyez pas.
Then, if any one shall say to you, Lo, the Messiah is here, or is there; give no credence.
24 Car il s'élèvera de faux christs et de faux prophètes, qui feront de grands signes et des prodiges, afin d'égarer, si possible, même les élus.
For there will arise false Messiahs, and mendacious prophets; who will exhibit great signs, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25 « Voici, je vous l'ai dit d'avance.
Behold, I have told you beforehand.
26 Si donc on vous dit: Voici, il est dans le désert, ne sortez pas; ou bien: Voici, il est dans les chambres intérieures, ne le croyez pas.
If therefore they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not out: or, Behold, he is in a secret chamber; give no credence.
27 Car, comme l'éclair vient de l'orient et se montre jusqu'en occident, ainsi en sera-t-il de l'avènement du Fils de l'homme.
As the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth unto the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man.
28 Car là où est le cadavre, c'est là que les vautours se rassemblent.
And wherever the carcass may be, there will the eagles be congregated.
29 « Mais aussitôt après les souffrances de ces jours-là, le soleil s'obscurcira, la lune ne donnera plus sa lumière, les étoiles tomberont du ciel, et les puissances des cieux seront ébranlées;
And immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not show her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be agitated.
30 et alors le signe du Fils de l'homme paraîtra dans le ciel. Alors toutes les tribus de la terre se lamenteront, et elles verront le Fils de l'homme venant sur les nuées du ciel avec puissance et grande gloire.
And then will be seen the signal of the Son of man in heaven: and then will all the tribes of the earth mourn, when they see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
31 Il enverra ses anges au son de la trompette, et ils rassembleront ses élus des quatre vents, d'une extrémité du ciel à l'autre.
And he will send his angels with a great trumpet and they will collect together his elect from the four winds, from one extremity of heaven to the other.
32 « Apprends maintenant cette parabole du figuier: Lorsque sa branche est devenue tendre et produit ses feuilles, vous savez que l'été est proche.
And learn ye an illustration from the fig-tree. As soon as its branches become tender and its leaves shoot forth, ye know that summer is coming on.
33 De même, vous aussi, quand vous voyez toutes ces choses, sachez qu'il est proche, même aux portes.
So also ye, when ye perceive all these things, know ye, that he is nigh, even at the door.
34 Je vous le dis en toute certitude, cette génération ne passera pas que toutes ces choses ne soient accomplies.
Verily I say to you, That this generation shall not pass away, till all these things shall be.
35 Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront pas.
Heaven and earth will pass away; but my words shall not pass away.
36 Mais personne ne connaît ce jour ni cette heure, pas même les anges du ciel, mais mon Père seul.
But of that day and of that hour, knoweth no man, nor even the angels of heaven, but the Father only.
37 Ce que furent les jours de Noé, tel sera l'avènement du Fils de l'homme.
And as the days of Noah, so will the coming of the Son of man be.
38 Car, comme dans les jours qui précédèrent le déluge, on mangeait et on buvait, on se mariait et on donnait en mariage, jusqu'au jour où Noé entra dans la barque,
For as, before the flood, they were eating and drinking, taking wives and giving to husbands, up to the day that Noah entered the ark,
39 et qu'on ne sut rien jusqu'à ce que le déluge vînt et les emportât tous, ainsi en sera-t-il de l'avènement du Fils de l'homme.
and knew not, until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Alors deux hommes seront dans un champ: l'un sera pris et l'autre laissé.
Then will two men be in the field; the one will be taken, and the other left.
41 Deux femmes moudront au moulin: l'une sera prise et l'autre laissée.
Two women will be grinding at the mill; the one taken, and the other left.
42 Veillez donc, car vous ne savez pas à quelle heure votre Seigneur viendra.
Watch, therefore, since ye know not at what hour your Lord cometh.
43 Mais sachez que si le maître de maison avait su à quelle veille de la nuit le voleur allait venir, il aurait veillé et n'aurait pas permis qu'on entre dans sa maison.
But know this, that if the lord of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have been awake, and would not have suffered his house to be broken into.
44 C'est pourquoi, vous aussi, tenez-vous prêts, car à l'heure que vous n'attendez pas, le Fils de l'homme viendra.
Therefore, be ye also ready; for at an hour ye do not expect, the Son of man will come.
45 « Quel est donc le serviteur fidèle et avisé, que son maître a établi sur sa maison, pour lui donner sa nourriture au temps convenable?
Who then, is that faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath placed over his domestics, to give them their food in its time?
46 Heureux ce serviteur que son maître trouvera en train de le faire quand il viendra.
Happy is that servant, whom, when his lord shall come, he will find so doing.
47 En vérité, je vous le dis, il l'établira sur tout ce qu'il possède.
Verily I say to you, He will place him over all that he hath.
48 Mais si ce mauvais serviteur dit en son cœur: Mon maître tarde à venir,
But if that servant, being wicked, shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 s'il se met à battre ses compagnons de service, à manger et à boire avec les ivrognes,
and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall be eating and drinking with drunkards;
50 le maître de ce serviteur viendra le jour où il ne s'y attend pas et l'heure où il ne le sait pas,
the lord of that servant will come in a day he will not expect, and in an hour he knoweth not,
51 il le mettra en pièces et lui donnera sa part avec les hypocrites. C'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
and will cut him asunder, and will assign him his portion with the hypocrites; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
