Matthieu 12
1 En ce temps-là, Jésus traversait les champs de blé le jour du sabbat. Ses disciples, qui avaient faim, se mirent à arracher des épis et à manger.
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.
2 Mais les pharisiens, voyant cela, lui dirent: « Voici que tes disciples font ce qu'il n'est pas permis de faire le jour du sabbat. »
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”
3 Mais il leur dit: « N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David quand il eut faim, et ceux qui étaient avec lui:
Jesus replied, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?
4 comment il est entré dans la maison de Dieu et a mangé le pain de proposition, qu'il ne lui était pas permis de manger, ni à ceux qui étaient avec lui, mais seulement aux prêtres?
He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for them to eat, but only for the priests.
5 N'avez-vous pas lu dans la loi que, le jour du sabbat, les prêtres du temple profanent le sabbat et ne sont pas coupables?
Or haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and yet are innocent?
6 Mais moi, je vous dis que quelqu'un de plus grand que le temple est ici.
But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.
7 Mais si vous aviez su ce que cela signifie: « Je veux la miséricorde et non les sacrifices", vous n'auriez pas condamné les innocents.
If only you had known the meaning of ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
8 Car le Fils de l'homme est le maître du sabbat. »
For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
9 Il partit de là et entra dans leur synagogue.
Moving on from there, Jesus entered their synagogue,
10 Et voici, il y avait là un homme qui avait la main desséchée. Ils lui demandèrent: « Est-il permis de guérir le jour du sabbat? », afin de l'accuser.
and a man with a withered hand was there. In order to accuse Jesus, they asked Him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
11 Il leur dit: « Quel est parmi vous l'homme qui a une brebis et qui, si celle-ci tombe dans une fosse le jour du sabbat, ne la saisit pas pour la retirer?
He replied, “If one of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?
12 Combien l'homme a-t-il plus de valeur qu'une brebis! Il est donc permis de faire du bien le jour du sabbat. »
How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
13 Alors il dit à l'homme: « Étends ta main. » Il l'étendit; et elle fut rendue entière, comme l'autre.
Then Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored to full use, just like the other.
14 Mais les pharisiens sortirent et conspirèrent contre lui, afin de le faire périr.
But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.
15 Jésus, s'en étant aperçu, se retira de là. Une grande foule le suivit; il les guérit tous,
Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them all,
16 et leur ordonna de ne pas le faire connaître,
warning them not to make Him known.
17 afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Ésaïe, le prophète, en ces termes,
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
18 « Voici mon serviteur que j'ai choisi, mon bien-aimé, en qui mon âme se complaît. Je mettrai mon Esprit sur lui. Il proclamera la justice aux nations.
“Here is My Servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will proclaim justice to the nations.
19 Il ne luttera pas, il ne criera pas, personne n'entendra sa voix dans les rues.
He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets.
20 Il ne brisera pas un roseau meurtri. Il n'éteindra pas un lin qui fume, jusqu'à ce qu'il mène la justice à la victoire.
A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish, till He leads justice to victory.
21 En son nom, les nations espéreront. »
In His name the nations will put their hope.”
22 Alors on lui amena un démoniaque, aveugle et muet, et il le guérit, de sorte que l'aveugle et le muet parlaient et voyaient.
Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed the man so that he could speak and see.
23 Toute la foule était stupéfaite et disait: « Est-ce là le fils de David? »
The crowds were astounded and asked, “Could this be the Son of David?”
24 Mais les pharisiens, ayant entendu cela, dirent: « Cet homme ne chasse les démons que par Béelzébul, le prince des démons. »
But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons.”
25 Connaissant leurs pensées, Jésus leur dit: « Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même est dévasté, et toute ville ou maison divisée contre elle-même ne peut subsister.
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.
26 Si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même. Comment donc son royaume subsistera-t-il?
If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?
27 Si c'est par Béelzébul que je chasse les démons, par qui vos enfants les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi ils seront vos juges.
And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.
28 Mais si c'est par l'Esprit de Dieu que je chasse les démons, alors le Royaume de Dieu est venu sur vous.
But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
29 Ou bien, comment peut-on entrer dans la maison d'un homme fort et piller ses biens, si l'on ne lie d'abord l'homme fort? Alors il pillera sa maison.
Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.
30 « Celui qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et celui qui n'assemble pas avec moi se disperse.
He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
31 C'est pourquoi je vous le dis: tout péché et tout blasphème sera pardonné aux hommes, mais le blasphème contre l'Esprit ne sera pas pardonné aux hommes.
Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
32 Quiconque parlera contre le Fils de l'homme, il lui sera pardonné; mais quiconque parlera contre le Saint-Esprit, il ne lui sera pardonné ni dans ce siècle, ni dans celui qui vient. (aiōn g165)
Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come. (aiōn g165)
33 « Ou bien faites que l'arbre soit bon et que son fruit soit bon, ou bien faites que l'arbre soit corrompu et que son fruit soit corrompu; car on reconnaît l'arbre à son fruit.
Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.
34 Races de vipères, comment pouvez-vous, étant méchants, dire de bonnes choses? Car c'est de l'abondance du cœur que la bouche parle.
You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.
35 L'homme bon, de son bon trésor, tire de bonnes choses, et l'homme mauvais, de son mauvais trésor, tire de mauvaises choses.
The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure.
36 Je vous le dis: toute parole oiseuse que les hommes prononcent, ils en rendront compte au jour du jugement.
But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.
37 Car c'est par vos paroles que vous serez justifiés, et c'est par vos paroles que vous serez condamnés. »
For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
38 Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des pharisiens prirent la parole et dirent: « Maître, nous voulons voir un signe de ta part. »
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”
39 Mais il leur répondit: « Une génération méchante et adultère cherche un signe; mais il ne lui sera donné d'autre signe que celui du prophète Jonas.
Jesus replied, “A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
40 Car, de même que Jonas a passé trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre d'un énorme poisson, de même le Fils de l'homme passera trois jours et trois nuits au cœur de la terre.
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 Les hommes de Ninive se lèveront en jugement avec cette génération et la condamneront, car ils se sont repentis à la prédication de Jonas; et voici que quelqu'un de plus grand que Jonas est là.
The men of Nineveh will stand at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now One greater than Jonah is here.
42 La reine du Midi se lèvera au moment du jugement de cette génération et la condamnera, car elle est venue des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon; et voici qu'il y a ici quelqu'un de plus grand que Salomon.
The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and now One greater than Solomon is here.
43 « Lorsqu'un esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il passe par des lieux sans eau, cherchant le repos, et il ne le trouve pas.
When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
44 Il dit alors: « Je vais retourner dans ma maison d'où je suis sorti »; et quand il est revenu, il la trouve vide, balayée et rangée.
Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ On its return, it finds the house vacant, swept clean, and put in order.
45 Alors il va et prend avec lui sept autres esprits plus mauvais que lui, et ils y entrent et y demeurent. Le dernier état de cet homme devient pire que le premier. Il en sera de même pour cette génération mauvaise. »
Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there; and the final plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation.”
46 Comme il parlait encore à la foule, voici que sa mère et ses frères se tenaient dehors, cherchant à lui parler.
While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him.
47 Quelqu'un lui dit: « Voici ta mère et tes frères qui sont dehors et qui cherchent à te parler. »
Someone told Him, “Look, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.”
48 Mais il répondit à celui qui lui parlait: « Qui est ma mère? Qui sont mes frères? »
But Jesus replied, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?”
49 Il étendit la main vers ses disciples, et dit: « Voici ma mère et mes frères!
Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers.
50 Car quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, celui-là est mon frère, et ma sœur, et ma mère. »
For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
