Malachie 2
1 « Maintenant, vous, prêtres, ce commandement est pour vous.
And now to you, O ye priests, is this commandment:
2 Si vous n'écoutez pas, si vous ne prenez pas à cœur de glorifier mon nom, dit Yahvé des Armées, alors j'enverrai la malédiction sur vous, et je maudirai vos bénédictions. Je les ai déjà maudits, parce que vous ne prenez pas cela à cœur.
If ye will not hearken, If ye will not lay it to heart, To give glory to my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings; Yea, I have cursed them already, Because ye do not lay it to heart.
3 Voici, je réprimanderai vos descendants, je répandrai sur vos visages du fumier, le fumier de vos fêtes, et vous en serez emportés.
Behold, I will rebuke your seed, And I will scatter dung in your faces, The dung of your solemn feasts, And ye shall be carried to it.
4 Vous saurez que je vous ai envoyé ce commandement, afin que mon alliance soit avec Lévi, dit l'Éternel des armées.
And ye shall know that I have sent to you this commandment, That my covenant may remain with Levi, Saith Jehovah of hosts.
5 « Mon alliance avec lui était la vie et la paix; je les lui ai données pour qu'il me respecte; et il m'a respecté et a craint mon nom.
My covenant was with him for life and peace, Which I gave to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, And was afraid before my name.
6 La loi de la vérité était dans sa bouche, et l'iniquité ne se trouvait pas sur ses lèvres. Il a marché avec moi dans la paix et la droiture, et il a détourné beaucoup de gens de l'iniquité.
The law of truth was in his mouth, And unrighteousness was not found in his lips; He walked with me in truth and equity, And turned many away from iniquity.
7 Car les lèvres du prêtre doivent garder la connaissance, et on doit chercher la loi à sa bouche, car il est le messager de l'Éternel des armées.
For the lips of the priest should keep knowledge, And men should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.
8 Mais vous vous êtes détournés du chemin. Tu as fait trébucher beaucoup de gens dans la loi. Tu as corrompu l'alliance de Lévi, dit l'Éternel des armées.
But ye have departed from the way, Ye have caused many to stumble at the law, And ye have made void the covenant with Levi, Saith Jehovah of hosts.
9 « C'est pourquoi je t'ai aussi rendu méprisable et méchant devant tout le peuple, selon que tu n'as pas gardé mes voies, mais que tu as respecté des personnes dans la loi.
Therefore will I also make you Despicable and base before all the people; According as ye have not kept my ways. But have had respect to persons in the law.
10 N'avons-nous pas tous un seul père? N'avons-nous pas été créés par un seul Dieu? Pourquoi sommes-nous perfides, chacun contre son frère, et profanons-nous l'alliance de nos pères?
Have we not all one Father? Hath not one God created us? Why should we deal treacherously one against another, And profane the covenant made with our fathers?
11 Juda a agi en traître, et une abomination a été commise en Israël et à Jérusalem; car Juda a profané la sainteté de l'Éternel qu'il aime, et il a épousé la fille d'un dieu étranger.
Judah hath dealt treacherously, And an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah hath profaned the holy people of Jehovah, which he loveth, And hath married the daughter of a strange god.
12 Yahvé retranchera l'homme qui fait cela, celui qui se réveille et celui qui répond, des tentes de Jacob et de celui qui présente une offrande à Yahvé des armées.
Jehovah will cut off the man that doeth this, Him that waketh and him that answereth, from the tents of Jacob, And him that bringeth an offering to Jehovah of hosts.
13 « Voici ce que vous faites encore: vous couvrez l'autel de Yahvé de larmes, de pleurs et de soupirs, parce qu'il n'a plus égard à l'offrande et qu'il ne la reçoit pas de votre main avec bienveillance.
And this also ye do: Ye cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, With weeping and with groans, So that he no more hath regard to the offering, Nor receiveth it with good-will from your hand.
14 Et tu dis: « Pourquoi? » Parce que l'Éternel a été témoin entre toi et la femme de ta jeunesse, contre laquelle tu as été infidèle, alors qu'elle était ta compagne et la femme de ton alliance.
Yet ye say, “Wherefore?” It is because Jehovah has been a witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, Against whom thou hast dealt unfaithfully, Although she was thy companion and thy covenanted wife.
15 N'a-t-il pas fait de vous un seul être, alors qu'il avait le résidu de l'Esprit? Pourquoi un seul? Il cherchait une descendance pieuse. Prends donc garde à ton esprit, et que personne ne soit infidèle à la femme de sa jeunesse.
But did not He make one only? And yet had he a residue of the spirit; And wherefore one? He sought a godly race. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And be not unfaithful to the wife of thy youth!
16 Celui qui hait et répudie, dit Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, couvre son vêtement de violence, dit Yahvé des armées. « Fais donc attention à ton esprit, afin de ne pas être infidèle.
For I hate him that putteth away, Saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, And him that covereth his garment with violence, Saith Jehovah of hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and be not unfaithful.
17 Vous avez fatigué l'Éternel par vos paroles. Et vous dites: Comment l'avons-nous fatigué? Vous dites: « Tous ceux qui font le mal sont bons aux yeux de l'Éternel, et il s'en réjouit », ou bien: « Où est le Dieu de la justice? ».
Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words; Yet ye say, “Wherein have we wearied him?” In that ye say, “Every one of them that do evil Is good in the sight of Jehovah, And in them he hath delight”; Or, “Where is the God of judgment?”
