Luc 4
1 Jésus, rempli de l'Esprit Saint, revint du Jourdain et fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert
Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led about by the Spirit in the Desert for forty days,
2 pendant quarante jours, pour être tenté par le diable. Il ne mangea rien pendant ces jours-là. Ensuite, quand ils furent terminés, il eut faim.
tempted all the while by the Devil. During those days He ate nothing, and at the close of them He suffered from hunger.
3 Le diable lui dit: « Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, ordonne à cette pierre de devenir du pain. »
Then the Devil said to Him, "If you are God's Son, tell this stone to become bread."
4 Jésus lui répondit: « Il est écrit: L'homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de toute parole de Dieu. »
"It is written," replied Jesus, "'It is not on bread alone that a man shall live.'"
5 Le diable, le conduisant sur une haute montagne, lui montra en un instant tous les royaumes du monde.
The Devil next led Him up and caused Him to see at a glance all the kingdoms of the world.
6 Le diable lui dit: « Je te donnerai toute cette autorité et leur gloire, car elles m'ont été remises, et je les donne à qui je veux.
And the Devil said to Him, "To you will I give all this authority and this splendour; for it has been handed over to me, and on whomsoever I will I bestow it.
7 Si donc tu te prosternes devant moi, tout cela sera à toi. »
If therefore you do homage to me, it shall all be yours.'
8 Jésus lui répondit: « Va derrière moi, Satan! Car il est écrit: « Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui. »
Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'To the Lord thy God thou shalt do homage, and to Him alone shalt thou render worship.'"
9 Il le conduisit à Jérusalem, le plaça sur le pinacle du temple et lui dit: « Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas d'ici,
Then he brought Him to Jerusalem and caused Him to stand on the roof of the Temple, and said to Him, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down from here; for it is written,
10 car il est écrit, Il mettra ses anges à votre tête, pour vous protéger.
'He will give orders to His angels concerning thee, to guard thee safely;'
11 et, C'est sur leurs mains qu'ils te porteront, de peur que tu ne heurtes ton pied contre une pierre. »
and 'On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest at any moment thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.'"
12 Jésus, prenant la parole, lui dit: « Il a été dit: Tu ne tenteras pas le Seigneur ton Dieu. »
The reply of Jesus was, "It is said, 'Thou shalt not put the Lord they God to the proof.'"
13 Lorsque le diable eut achevé toutes les tentations, il s'éloigna de lui jusqu'à une autre époque.
So the Devil, having fully tried every kind of temptation on Him, left Him for a time.
14 Jésus revint en Galilée dans la puissance de l'Esprit, et la nouvelle de sa venue se répandit dans toute la région environnante.
Then Jesus returned in the Spirit's power to Galilee; and His fame spread through all the adjacent districts.
15 Il enseignait dans leurs synagogues, et était glorifié par tous.
And He proceeded to teach in their synagogues, winning praise from all.
16 Il se rendit à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé. Il entra, selon sa coutume, dans la synagogue, le jour du sabbat, et se leva pour lire.
He came to Nazareth also, where He had been brought up; and, as was His custom, He went to the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.
17 On lui remit le livre du prophète Ésaïe. Il ouvrit le livre, et trouva l'endroit où il était écrit,
And there was handed to Him the book of the Prophet Isaiah, and, opening the book, He found the place where it was written,
18 « L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi, car il m'a oint pour annoncer la bonne nouvelle aux pauvres. Il m'a envoyé pour guérir les cœurs brisés, pour proclamer la libération des captifs, le recouvrement de la vue pour les aveugles, pour délivrer ceux qui sont écrasés,
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor; He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners of war and recovery of sight to the blind: to send away free those whom tyranny has crushed,
19 et de proclamer l'année de grâce du Seigneur. »
to proclaim the year of acceptance with the Lord."
20 Il ferma le livre, le rendit au gardien et s'assit. Les yeux de tous ceux qui étaient dans la synagogue étaient fixés sur lui.
And rolling up the book, He returned it to the attendant, and sat down--to speak. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
21 Il se mit à leur dire: « Aujourd'hui, cette Écriture s'est accomplie pour vous. »
Then He proceeded to say to them, "To-day is this Scripture fulfilled in your hearing."
22 Tous témoignaient de lui et s'étonnaient des paroles gracieuses qui sortaient de sa bouche; et ils disaient: « N'est-ce pas le fils de Joseph? »
And they all spoke well of Him, wondering at the sweet words of kindness which fell from His lips, while they asked one another, "Is not this Joseph's son?"
23 Il leur dit: « Vous me direz sans doute ce proverbe: « Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même! Tout ce que nous avons entendu faire à Capharnaüm, fais-le aussi ici, dans ta ville natale. »
"Doubtless," said He, "you will quote to me the proverb, 'Physician, cure yourself: all that we hear that you have done at Capernaum, do here also in your native place.'"
24 Il répondit: « En vérité, je vous le dis, aucun prophète n'est accepté dans sa ville natale.
"I tell you in solemn truth," He added, "that no Prophet is welcomed among his own people.
25 Mais en vérité, je vous le dis, il y avait beaucoup de veuves en Israël au temps d'Elie, lorsque le ciel fut fermé pendant trois ans et six mois et qu'une grande famine s'abattit sur tout le pays.
But I tell you in truth that there was many a widow in Israel in the time of Elijah, when there was no rain for three years and six months and there came a severe famine over all the land;
26 Élie ne fut envoyé vers aucune d'elles, si ce n'est à Sarepta, dans le pays de Sidon, vers une femme qui était veuve.
and yet to not one of them was Elijah sent: he was only sent to a widow at Zarephath in the Sidonian country.
27 Il y avait beaucoup de lépreux en Israël au temps du prophète Élisée, et aucun d'eux ne fut purifié, si ce n'est Naaman, le Syrien. »
And there was also many a leper in Israel in the time of the Prophet Elisha, and yet not one of them was cleansed, but Naaman the Syrian was."
28 Ils furent tous remplis de fureur dans la synagogue en entendant ces choses.
Then all in the synagogue, while listening to these words, were filled with fury.
29 Ils se levèrent, le jetèrent hors de la ville, et le conduisirent au sommet de la colline sur laquelle leur ville était bâtie, afin de le précipiter du haut de la falaise.
They rose, hurried Him outside the town, and brought Him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, to throw Him down the cliff;
30 Mais lui, passant au milieu d'eux, s'en alla.
but He passed through the midst of them and went His way.
31 Il descendit à Capernaüm, ville de Galilée. Il les enseignait le jour du sabbat,
So He came down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, where He frequently taught the people on the Sabbath days.
32 et ils étaient étonnés de son enseignement, car sa parole avait de l'autorité.
And they were greatly impressed by His teaching, because He spoke with the language of authority.
33 Il y avait dans la synagogue un homme possédé d'un esprit de démon impur. Il poussa un grand cri,
But in the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of a foul demon. In a loud voice he cried out,
34 disant: « Ah! qu'avons-nous à faire avec toi, Jésus de Nazareth? Es-tu venu pour nous détruire? Je sais qui tu es: le Saint de Dieu! »
"Ha! Jesus the Nazarene, what have you to do with us? I know who you are--God's Holy One!"
35 Jésus le réprimanda en disant: « Tais-toi et sors de lui! » Quand le démon l'eut jeté au milieu d'eux, il sortit de lui, sans lui avoir fait aucun mal.
But Jesus rebuked the demon. "Silence!" He exclaimed; "come out of him." Upon this, the demon hurled the man into the midst of them, and came out of him without doing him any harm.
36 La stupeur s'empara de tous, et ils parlaient ensemble, les uns avec les autres, en disant: « Quelle est cette parole? Car c'est avec autorité et puissance qu'il commande aux esprits impurs, et ils sortent! »
All were astonished and awe-struck; and they asked one another, "What sort of language is this? For with authority and real power He gives orders to the foul spirits and they come out."
37 La nouvelle de sa venue se répandit dans tous les lieux de la région environnante.
And the talk about Him spread into every part of the neighbouring country.
38 Il se leva de la synagogue et entra dans la maison de Simon. La belle-mère de Simon était atteinte d'une forte fièvre, et ils le supplièrent de la secourir.
Now when He rose and left the synagogue He went to Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from an acute attack of fever; and they consulted Him about her.
39 Il se tint au-dessus d'elle et menaça la fièvre, qui la quitta. Aussitôt, elle se leva et les servit.
Then standing over her He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she at once rose and waited on them.
40 Au coucher du soleil, tous ceux qui avaient des malades atteints de diverses maladies les lui amenèrent; il imposa les mains à chacun d'eux et les guérit.
At sunset all who had friends suffering from any illness brought them to Him, and He laid His hands on them all, one by one, and cured them.
41 Des démons sortaient aussi de plusieurs, criant et disant: « Tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu! » Les réprimandant, il ne leur permettait pas de parler, car ils savaient qu'il était le Christ.
Demons also came out of many, loudly calling out, "You are the Son of God." But He rebuked them and forbad them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.
42 Le jour venu, il partit et s'en alla dans un lieu inhabité. La foule le cherchait, s'approchait de lui et le retenait, afin qu'il ne s'éloigne pas d'elle.
Next morning, at daybreak, He left the town and went away to a solitary place; but the people flocked out to find Him, and, coming to the place where He was, they endeavoured to detain Him that He might not leave them.
43 Mais il leur dit: « Il faut que j'annonce aussi la bonne nouvelle du Royaume de Dieu dans les autres villes. C'est pour cela que j'ai été envoyé. »
But He said to them, "I have to tell the Good News of the Kingdom of God to the other towns also, because for this purpose I was sent."
44 Il prêchait dans les synagogues de Galilée.
And for some time He preached in the synagogues in Galilee.
