Luc 16
1 Il dit aussi à ses disciples: « Il y avait un homme riche qui avait un gérant. On lui reprocha que cet homme gaspillait ses biens.
He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.
2 Il l'appela et lui dit: « Qu'est-ce que j'entends dire de toi? Rends compte de ta gestion, car tu ne peux plus être gérant.
He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’
3 « Le gérant se dit en lui-même: « Que vais-je faire, puisque mon seigneur m'enlève le poste de gérant? Je n'ai pas la force de creuser. J'ai honte de mendier.
“The manager said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I do not have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.
4 Je sais ce que je ferai, afin que, lorsque je serai relevé de mes fonctions, on me reçoive dans sa maison.
I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.’
5 Appelant chacun des débiteurs de son maître, il dit au premier: « Combien dois-tu à mon maître? »
Calling each one of his lord’s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?’
6 Il répondit: « Cent batos d'huile ». Il lui dit: « Prends ton billet, assieds-toi vite et écris cinquante ».
He said, ‘A hundred batos of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’
7 Il dit ensuite à un autre: « Combien dois-tu? Il répondit: « Cent cors de blé ». Il lui dit: « Prends ta note, et écris quatre-vingts.
Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred cors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’
8 « Son seigneur a félicité le gérant malhonnête parce qu'il avait agi avec sagesse, car les enfants de ce monde sont, dans leur propre génération, plus sages que les enfants de la lumière. (aiōn g165)
"His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this age (aiōn g165) are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.
9 Je vous le dis, faites-vous des amis au moyen de mammon inique, afin que, lorsque vous échouerez, ils vous reçoivent dans les tentes éternelles. (aiōnios g166)
I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when it fails, they may receive you into consummate (aiōnios g166) tents.
10 Celui qui est fidèle en peu de chose l'est aussi en beaucoup. Celui qui est malhonnête pour peu de choses est aussi malhonnête pour beaucoup.
He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
11 Si donc vous n'avez pas été fidèles dans les richesses injustes, qui vous confiera les véritables richesses?
If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
12 Si tu n'as pas été fidèle dans ce qui appartient à autrui, qui te donnera ce qui t'appartient en propre?
If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?
13 Aucun serviteur ne peut servir deux maîtres, car ou bien il haïra l'un et aimera l'autre, ou bien il s'attachera à l'un et méprisera l'autre. Vous ne pouvez pas servir Dieu et Mammon. »
No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to one and despise the other. You are not able to serve God and Mammon.”
14 Les pharisiens, qui aimaient l'argent, entendirent aussi toutes ces choses, et ils se moquèrent de lui.
The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.
15 Il leur dit: « Vous êtes ceux qui se justifient aux yeux des hommes, mais Dieu connaît vos cœurs. Car ce qui est élevé parmi les hommes est une abomination aux yeux de Dieu.
He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
16 « La loi et les prophètes ont été jusqu'à Jean. Dès lors, la Bonne Nouvelle du Royaume de Dieu est prêchée, et chacun y entre de force.
“The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of God’s Kingdom is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
17 Mais il est plus facile que le ciel et la terre passent que de faire tomber un petit trait de plume de la loi.
But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.
18 « Quiconque répudie sa femme et en épouse une autre commet un adultère. Celui qui épouse une femme divorcée commet un adultère.
“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.
19 Il y avait là un homme riche, vêtu de pourpre et de fin lin, et vivant chaque jour dans le luxe.
“Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.
20 Un mendiant, nommé Lazare, fut conduit à sa porte, couvert d'ulcères,
A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was taken to his gate, full of sores,
21 et désireux de se nourrir des miettes qui tombaient de la table du riche. Et même les chiens venaient lécher ses plaies.
and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 Le mendiant mourut, et il fut emporté par les anges dans le sein d'Abraham. Le riche aussi mourut et fut enseveli.
The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
23 Dans le séjour des morts, il leva les yeux, étant en proie aux tourments, et il vit au loin Abraham, et Lazare dans son sein. (Hadēs g86)
In Hades (Hadēs g86), he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.
24 Il s'écria: « Père Abraham, aie pitié de moi, et envoie Lazare, afin qu'il trempe le bout de son doigt dans l'eau et me rafraîchisse la langue. Car je suis en proie à l'angoisse dans cette flamme.
He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’
25 « Mais Abraham dit: 'Mon fils, souviens-toi que toi, de ton vivant, tu as reçu tes bonnes choses, et Lazare, de la même manière, de mauvaises choses. Mais voici qu'il est maintenant réconforté et toi, tu es dans l'angoisse.
“But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted and you are in anguish.
26 En plus de tout cela, entre nous et vous, un grand fossé est fixé, de sorte que ceux qui veulent passer d'ici à vous ne le peuvent pas, et que personne ne peut passer de là à nous.''
Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that no one may cross over from there to us.’
27 Il dit: « Je te demande donc, père, de l'envoyer dans la maison de mon père -
“He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house—
28 car j'ai cinq frères - afin qu'il leur rende témoignage et qu'ils n'aillent pas eux aussi dans ce lieu de tourments ».
for I have five brothers—that he may testify to them, so they will not also come into this place of torment.’
29 « Mais Abraham lui dit: « Ils ont Moïse et les prophètes. Qu'ils les écoutent.
“But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’
30 « Il répondit: 'Non, père Abraham, mais si quelqu'un leur vient d'entre les morts, ils se repentiront'.
“He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’
31 « Il lui dit: 'S'ils n'écoutent pas Moïse et les prophètes, ils ne seront pas non plus convaincus si quelqu'un ressuscite d'entre les morts.'"
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”
