Luc 15
1 Or, tous les publicains et les pécheurs s'approchaient de lui pour l'entendre.
THEN drew nigh unto him all the tax-farmers and the sinners to hear him.
2 Les pharisiens et les scribes murmuraient, disant: « Cet homme accueille les pécheurs et mange avec eux. »
And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man entertains sinners, and eateth with them.
3 Il leur dit cette parabole:
Then spake he unto them this parable, saying,
4 « Lequel d'entre vous, s'il avait cent brebis et en perdait une, ne laisserait pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans le désert pour courir après celle qui est perdue, jusqu'à ce qu'il la retrouve?
What man is there of you, possessing an hundred sheep, though he lose but one of them, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 Lorsqu'il l'a trouvée, il la porte sur ses épaules en se réjouissant.
and when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 De retour à la maison, il appelle ses amis et ses voisins, en leur disant: « Réjouissez-vous avec moi, car j'ai retrouvé ma brebis qui était perdue! ».
And coming home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Congratulate me; for I have found that sheep of mine which was lost.
7 Je vous le dis, de même, il y aura plus de joie dans le ciel pour un seul pécheur qui se repent, que pour quatre-vingt-dix-neuf justes qui n'ont pas besoin de se repentir.
I tell you, that just so will there be joy in heaven over one repentant sinner, more than over ninety-nine righteous persons, who hold not their need of repentance.
8 « Ou quelle femme, si elle avait dix drachmes, si elle en perdait une, n'allumerait pas une lampe, ne balaierait pas la maison et ne chercherait pas diligemment jusqu'à ce qu'elle la trouve?
Or what woman having ten pieces of silver coin, if she lose one of them, doth she not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and make diligent search until she find it?
9 Lorsqu'elle l'a trouvée, elle convoque ses amies et ses voisines en disant: « Réjouissez-vous avec moi, car j'ai trouvé la drachme que j'avais perdue! ».
And having found it, she calleth her female friends and neighbours together, saying, Congratulate me; for I have found the silver piece I had lost.
10 De même, je vous le dis, il y a de la joie en présence des anges de Dieu pour un seul pécheur qui se repent. »
Even so, I tell you, there is joy among the angels of God, over one repentant sinner.
11 Il dit: « Un homme avait deux fils.
Then he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 Le plus jeune dit à son père: « Père, donne-moi ma part de tes biens ». Il partagea donc entre eux son gagne-pain.
and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of substance which falls to my share. And he divided with them his fortune.
13 Peu de jours après, le fils cadet rassembla tout cela et s'en alla dans un pays lointain. Là, il gaspilla ses biens en vivant dans la débauche.
And not many days after, the younger son, collecting his all, travelled into a far distant country, and there dissipated his substance in a life of debauchery.
14 Lorsqu'il eut tout dépensé, une grande famine survint dans ce pays, et il commença à être dans le besoin.
But when he had spent all, there came a terrible famine in that region; and he began to know want.
15 Il alla s'attacher à l'un des citoyens de ce pays, qui l'envoya dans ses champs pour nourrir les porcs.
And he went and connected himself with one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 Il voulait se remplir le ventre avec les cosses que mangeaient les porcs, mais personne ne lui en donnait.
And he eagerly longed to fill his belly with the charob berries which the swine did eat: and no person gave him a morsel.
17 Lorsqu'il revint à lui, il dit: « Combien de mercenaires de mon père ont du pain en abondance, et moi, je meurs de faim!
Then coming to himself, he said, How many hirelings of my father abound with loaves of bread, and I am pining away with famine!
18 Je me lèverai et j'irai vers mon père, et je lui dirai: « Père, j'ai péché contre le ciel et à tes yeux.
I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 Je ne suis plus digne d'être appelé ton fils. Fais de moi un de tes mercenaires. »''
and I am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hirelings.
20 « Il se leva et alla vers son père. Mais, comme il était encore loin, son père le vit et fut ému de compassion; il courut, se jeta à son cou et le baisa.
And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet at a considerable distance, his father discovered him, and was moved with compassion, and running, fell on his neck, and kissed him again and again.
21 Le fils lui dit: « Père, j'ai péché contre le ciel et à tes yeux. Je ne suis plus digne d'être appelé ton fils ».
Then said the son unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 « Mais le père dit à ses serviteurs: « Apportez la plus belle robe et mettez-la sur lui. Mettez un anneau à sa main et des sandales à ses pieds.
But the father said to his servants, Bring out the best robe, and clothe him; and put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet:
23 Amenez le veau gras, tuez-le, mangeons et faisons la fête;
and bring hither the stall-fed steer, and kill it; and let us eat, and be joyous.
24 car celui-ci, mon fils, était mort et il revit. Il était perdu et il est retrouvé. Et ils se mirent à célébrer.
For this my son was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. And they began to be joyous.
25 « Or, son fils aîné était aux champs. Comme il s'approchait de la maison, il entendit de la musique et des danses.
Now his elder brother had been in the field: and when coming home he drew near the house, he heard a concert of music, and the chorus.
26 Il appela un des serviteurs et lui demanda ce qui se passait.
And calling one of the servants, he inquired what these things meant.
27 Il lui dit: « Ton frère est arrivé et ton père a tué le veau gras, car il l'a reçu sain et sauf.
And he said, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed for him the stall-fed steer, because he hath received him in health.
28 Mais il se mit en colère et ne voulut pas entrer. Alors son père sortit et le supplia.
Then he was in great wrath, and would not enter the doors: therefore his father came out, and entreated him.
29 Mais il répondit à son père: « Voici tant d'années que je te sers et je n'ai jamais désobéi à un de tes commandements, mais tu ne m'as jamais donné de chèvre pour que je puisse faire la fête avec mes amis.
But he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years I am serving thee, and never have transgressed thy command: yet to me thou hast never once given a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 Mais lorsque ton fils est arrivé, lui qui a dévoré ta vie avec des prostituées, tu as tué pour lui le veau gras.
but no sooner is this son of thine come, who hath devoured thy substance with whores, than thou hast killed for him the stall-fed steer.
31 Il lui dit: « Mon fils, tu es toujours avec moi, et tout ce qui est à moi est à toi.
And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all my possessions are thine.
32 Mais il convenait de célébrer et de se réjouir, car celui-ci, ton frère, était mort, et il est ressuscité. Il était perdu, et il est retrouvé. »
But it was right that we should rejoice, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
